We got a small buck on opening day of gun season and dropped it off around noon. We expected it to take a week to be processed which is typical for the processor we normally use but they told us it would only take 3-5 hours. Sure enough, they called us about 5 hours later and we picked up our deer around 7pm that same night. They are a small operation so they don't have a lot of storage room and that's why they turn around the deer so fast. If you want summer sausage or other specialities, those aren't processed until Jan-Feb after the close of deer season. We haven't sampled any of our venison yet but it was professionally packaged in butcher paper and clearly marked with the various cuts. This processor is MUCH closer to our hunting property so we definitely plan to use them from now on.

As he handed them over, I could clearly see this was the real deal. The chicken was taco-seasoned and juicy (practically falling apart), the masa was warm and perfectly formed into that tamale shape. The corn-black bean salsa was a nice touch also. It would be nice to have some beverage options, but we didn't ask. It was close enough to our apartment that we just walked back and chose from our existing stockpile. Overall, I would say whatever you do, don't discount this less-than-pretty food truck. The atmosphere is very down-to-earth and homey, but very straightforward and easy to take in. Everyone from the student workers, managers, and full-time employees are incredibly friendly, helpful, and knowledgable about the wide array of organic/ nutritious products they carry. The produce and meat from the Berea College Farm are of incredible quality, too. I highly recommend stopping in for lunch around 11:45 to beat the noon crowd during the week. Their affordable menu changes daily to reflect the offerings that week, and the freshness is unmatched in Berea. Have a seat outdoors and enjoy a nutritious lunch mingling with the regulars and locals that stop in, and if you're up to it, do a little grocery shopping while you're there!
