    Butcher burger
    Michael E.

Went on a Saturday with the wife. Really meet inside. Both of us ordered burgers and a side. I had the butcher burger. It is a burger topped with Howard's creek beer cheese and pulled pork. It was amazing. My wife had just a cheese burger. Her side was chips, which are potato chips fried in house. I had the vinegar slaw. Small sedating area, but had more room upstairs. They do a lot of to go orders. They had all sorts of meats for sale as well as lots of local items. The burgers and sides were outstanding. It is a little pricy, but it is quality. Wheelchair accessible with little assistance. Will be back to visit again.

This is a super cute place that I have been wanting to try for a while now. The meat is butchered on the property so this is really a farm to table experience. I will warn you, this place is fairly meat centric so there are not many vegetarian options. I asked for a suggestion. The clerk said between the chorizo burger and the pork patty melt. I went for the chorizo burger with the fries and an extra side of the Mac n cheese. Let me tell you, the fries were perfectly cooked. The Mac n cheese was just the way I like it. The noodles were soft and the cheese sauce was perfect and creamy. Completely delicious. The burger was good. My only complaint is the burger to bun ratio is a bit off. I would suggest getting smaller buns or adding more meat and raising the price. Good news. They have plans to open at the Summit on Nick'ville road this fall so everyone will have an opportunity to eat here should you want to fight the traffic.

Andeoulue sausage sandwich with fruit cup. This picture does not even get close to how good it was!!!

Bought the best milk ever, organic and with the cream on top of it. The bottles are heavy glass and you will pay it's price once, but can take it back and it will be deducted from the price. I regularly get my milk from here whenever my partner goes out to the shooting range in Danville. If you have not had organic whole milk, give this a try! Another gem I found is beef and pork bones at a very good price. Are you looking for some meaty bones for your next stew or soup? This is your place! Wish they would smoke a couple here there, but nothing a home smoker cannot handle. The food is delicious. I am a french fries person and am okay with a side salad here there. However, I judge a place by their fries real quick! Their are delicious organic fries with just the right amount of their house made seasoning, which you can buy to take home as well. Cannot wait to return! Return, I shall! ;)

I have been wanting to try this place for quite some time but I ended up disappointed. I had the fried bologna sandwich which was pretty good. The two people that I was with got the grass-fed burgers and they said that they weren't very good and it seemed like they were cooked an hour or two prior. They said it didn't taste fresh at all. There were only teenagers working when we were there. It might be better if the adults are cooking.

Seriously, if I ever have to go into witness protection, please let it be here so I can have good meat and fresh milk. Heaven's to Betsy, this place is da bomb! We stopped in here on a whim, and I am so glad we did, we were on our way to Centre College from Lexington and found this little gem along the way. The name alone "The Pasture" should tell you plenty, everything is farm fresh. They even have milk crates with a sign that reads "Please return milk bottles here" outside the front door - who even has that anymore? Our lunch was phenomenal, I had the pulled pork with homemade creamy and homemade vinegar slaws and homemade bbq sauce (original and tangy mustard) and mac and cheese. I also asked for extra pickles - these were literally the best pickles I have ever eaten in my life! The meat was super flavorful, moist and cooked to perfection. Both the creamy and vinegar slaws were amazing, great for either palate, and let's talk about the bbq sauces....the Original was sweet and smoky with a pinch of twang and the tangy mustard reminded me of a perfectly executed Carolina bbq sauce. They have a small store and fresh meat counter - yum! The staff here is wonderful, everyone was super nice! I seriously can't wait to come back! If you are ever anywhere in this vicinity, make the time to stop in here. You won't be disappointed!

When an establishment tries to claim to be something different and special then they need to fulfill that if they are going to charge superior prices. When I pay $11.13 for a cheeseburger and patatoes casserole then I expect near perfection, instead it's merely ok. Not bad enough to complain to a manager, but probably not something that I'll try a third time. The burger was so small it dissapeared under the mountain of condiments. It was so thin that they could barely get a true medium.

Great little local business! I try to support local folks doing something unique and this place fits that bill. As usual you will pay more for products at places like these so that's why I frequent them only occasionally. Limited menu but solid. We had burgers and they were very good but not sure that mine, the Butcher Burger was quite worth $11.

Cool sign just outside the market.

What a pleasant surprise! My wife and I went a way for a couple days of R&R at at B&B in Danville. Not far from home, but far enough away to enjoy some time close to nature. On one of our days exploring we came across Pasture Burgers & BBQ. We spent some time walking around this little market and cafe. It was very fun. Local, fresh cheese, spices, meat, milk and drinks. What a great little spot! On our first visit, we didn't buy anything as we had just had some lunch, but decided to go back the next day. On day two, after walking around some more we ordered the Smoked Bologna Ruben with a side of potato casserole (I think that's what they called it). We also went with some Kochumba to drink. Two great decisions and one poor one, but we'll get to that later. Being from Los Angeles, I've never heard of smoked bologna and didn't know what to expect. Especially since the sandwich was a called a Ruben. Then it came out. Wow! Super tasty smoked goodness. It was nothing like the bologna you buy at Kroger. It tasted like beef! Yummy! And the potato casserole? Super delicious. Made with caramelized onions and full of flavor! What a great surprise. On a side not, we tried the Kochumba (http://n.pr/26XldNo). Neither one of us had ever had it before and read up on it briefly before deciding to give it a try. Yuck! Nasty tasting fermented tea. Pasture didn't bottle it, nor push it, so I don't blame them. I guess eating adventurously comes back to bite you every once in a while. Oh, well. If you're in the area, stop by and enjoy this great, local place.

Finding Mediterranean cuisine anywhere can be difficult, but having such fine Mediterranean food…read moreright in the heart of Lancaster is nearly unbelievable. This place has a name and an exterior that hides what it really is--an understated place with massive Mediterranean flavor and quality. Tonight my wife and I came in around 7 or so on a Saturday night, an hour before they closed and with a show going on at the Lancaster Grand across the street. We were their second to last customer for the night. The place was packed when we got in, with close to 10 parties seated. One was a very large group. Working was the owner at the grill, his wife on apps and plating, and one young man waiting tables and bussing. We overheard that their second waiter had called in that night--naturally your help calls in on your busiest nights. It is likely for this reason that the lady below left her unsavory review about the wait time. She was probably hungry and they probably had somebody call in, and they went to their show hungry so she took it out on this restaurant's page on Yelp. I'd say that blame falls on her lacking perspective more than this restaurant lacking quality. Some folks from the area may not be accustomed to food like this, and it may not hit them right. But folks who know good food will love this place, as we heard multiple other patrons raving about how good their food was. Ours was no exception. I got the three kabob shawarma platter which was excellent (though the "market price" for it ended up being an astounding $46. The idea must be to share it among two or three folks.) My wife really enjoyed her hummus with chopped up chicken shawarma and roasted almonds, just superb with the pita chips and pita bread served alongside. Y'all, the hummus is special here. The food options in Lancaster are limited. You've got your standard bbq spots, the little pasta place around the corner in the Lancaster square which I've reviewed separately, your token Mexican restaurant, and then your fast food chains. This spot is a real hole in the wall that outshines all of them when it comes to flavor, while putting on no airs. Just be prepared to sit back, wait patiently to be served, and maybe inquire as to what the "market price" is if you (like me) weren't intending to come away spending $75 after tip (having ordered waters to drink).

We saw a man and a woman fixing food and three wait staff in the restaurant. The place seemed pretty busy, too, which we took as a good sign. We placed an order for two shawarma plates and a hummus appetizer. Then we sat. We heard a man sitting at the bar say he had been waiting for his food for over half an hour. Uh oh. We heard the lady behind the counter fixing food yelling at the wait staff for the back up of orders. We asked about our appetizer two times when the staff came to check on us. We had been there over half an hour, and once we heard the lady tell them she would fix it but she never did. As we had plans to catch a show at Grand, we finally got up and left after sitting there for about an hour with no food coming out to us. Unfortunately, no matter how good the food might be, with service like this we do not plan to visit again.

It's one reason I don't go out for breakfast ~ I can make a pretty good breakfast at home. No use paying someone to do something I can do. So, going into Jackson's restaurant, a mom and pop restaurant specializing in home cooked style food, I had my doubts. Walking up to what resembled a school cafeteria lunch line only furthered my doubts. And, seeing the sheer number of different options sitting out behind the glass window only furthered my suspicions. Look, I was wrong. The food here is really good. The service is super friendly and helpful. I was so overwhelmed by all the choices I just told the lady behind the glass counter to pick me something. She obliged with a kindness that made me think she knew me somehow. She chose the chicken and dumplings, beef stew, apples, and two different types of corn bread. Now, I thought initially, and she even admitted, that the chicken and dumplings/beef stew mix was a little unorthodox, but that they were both so good I had to try them. Both were fantastic. The apples were awesome. I liked both types of corn bread. When I got up to leave, she called me over to the counter and said that since it was my first time there, I'd get a free dessert. You all, I was too full to even try. The food here is both tasty and filling. I was in Richmond for a conference at Eastern Kentucky University. So it was really convenient to stop by. But I'd say that even if you're remotely close, it's worth a visit. Don't, as I did, judge a book by its cover.
