I discovered this place while grabbing coffee in Eureka, IL. Oh boy, was it a good discovery. I sampled a few ice creams and loved each one. Conveniently when I was there, they also had dollar hot dogs! So between amazing ice cream and cheap hot dogs, I was in heaven. If you love ice cream and haven't visited Uncle Bob's, do yourself a service and go try some! The do sell Uncle Bob's ice cream at some local eateries, so keep your eyes peeled if you can't make it to the Eureka location. read more

This place is amazing. Served by mostly it seems local high school students, the service is welcoming, friendly, and efficient. With quite a few state fair winners in flavors, I find the ice cream delicious and well worth a visit. We had the peach and blackberry, both recommended to us by locals, and they did not disappoint. Strong fruit flavors in both with the peach having some good peach chunks too. We also ordered the hot dog which was solid but nothing crazy. Not that much seating throughout with probably 8 spots inside and a few benches outside. Great did a grab and go and there's a drive thru. We thought knowing Dayne Z or Brock M would help get us no free ice cream but we'll have to keep trying next time we visit. read more

Delicious ice cream which isn't cheap but is reasonably priced for the high quality. We've bought it in the past at Hy-Vee in Bloomington but this past June went to this location. We recently went to the Oberweis in Bloomington and Uncle Bob's is of similar quality but is more reasonably priced for similar items and with larger portion sizes. Wow! This is fantastic ice cream. Super premium, hard packed. Not like big brands that whip air into their product to give you less. Here is the happy coincidence that brought us to UB's... While at Hyvee in Bloomington, we were discussing our plan for next day - Tremont Turkey Festival. My husband says, instead of having our usual strawberry shortcake at the fest, maybe we go to check out UB's in Eureka on the way back. As we turned the corner down the Hyvee aisle, low and behold, there was a little UB's stand giving out mini scoop samples! We met Ben and chatted him up while happily enjoying a few samples. We learned that UB's won best ice cream at the IL State Fair recently! So that cemented our plan to go to the ice cream mecca in Eureka the next day. Kind of like a divine intervention! Cute shop, super sweet workers and DELICIOUS ice cream. Is it cheap? No. Is it super premium, high fat, high quality ingredients, locally made, owned and operated? Yep! Worth it! read more

Great ice cream... It's harder and harder to find homemade ice cream. The staff is very friendly and willing to let you sample any flavor do you want. Great variety of flavors. Classic small town ice cream shop with delicious homemade ice cream. We were out and about on a day road trip and thanks to Yelp we stopped here. They have a bunch of ice cream flavors. My hot fudge sundae was huge and tasty! They also serve food but we did not get any food. We got two quarts of ice cream to go and they packed them up for traveling. The Oreo ice cream is packed with Oreos, so good! Nice staff. You have to stop here. read more

Uncle Bob's is a small town homemade ice cream store! The ice cream is slightly pricey at about $4 or more, but when you figure it all homemade and you're supporting a local business--it is worth it! The ice cream flavors are constantly changing. You don't know what flavors they will have until you get to the counter and see what is in the freezer on that day. It makes getting ice cream thrilling and exciting, but I sometimes wish they would post their flavors each day on their Facebook page. Although it may seem a bit pricey at $4+, just remember everything is made right there and they give verrrrrry generous portions. The reason that they're not a 5 star is that it take a while to get our ice cream. Granted it was a busy summer evening, but nevertheless we expected them to be prepared for that and regardless of how many people were in the store the employees seemed to work at the same pace. read more

Uncle Bob's never disappoints. Oreo Overload in a waffle cone is my standard, but when it's not in the freezer, everything else I've tried is outstanding as well. This place is absolutely amazing!!! You WILL NOT find a better ice cream...PERIOD! I drive all the way from Arizona to get this once a year. Worth the drive. They recently released a flavor called "Washington Strong." It honors the survivors of the recent tornado. It is to die for. The ice cream shop is amazing! It is a small family owned business. They use local farmers for their dairy products, can't get fresher than that. The owners Bob and his son Ben Bally are the only ones who are allowed to make the ice cream. Which by the way is made by hand a couple days a week. There are so many flavors to choose from that are all delicious. Other reviews say it's $4 per scoop which is not true it is $3; however, the scoop are very generous!
