Love this little place! Great ice cream and food. Very speedy service as well ever when they are quite busy. Been going here for years

The best ice cream in Pekin, if you can get past the attitudes. After going to the Funeral home, to make arrangements to bury her father, we thought we would go here to get away from the craziness in our lives the past few days. When we arrived, the attitudes were short wicked and it looks like everyone hated their job. My wife was made out to be a dumb*** in front of everyone because she accidentally grabbed someone's Strawberry Shake instead of her Strawberry Shortcake. I won't be back, that was very embarrassing for my wife and put her in tears, she just can't get away from all this cruel crap. She just lost her father and just can't get a break read more

Review Visit: August 19th, 2013 Get your mind out of the gutter. We are here to talk about ice cream and that is it. Now that we established that, lets move on. On an evening during peak ice cream shack season, my friend Matt and I headed out to get just that. Having driven through Pekin quite a few times, I was surprised at never noticing this place. But, as my traveling ramped up, I discovered quite a few hidden gems that I drove past without noticing. Matt and I rolled up in the evening time, around the dinner rush time. The place was bustling, which was no surprise as Double D's is right off the main road that runs through Pekin. We got in line after figuring out what we wanted and placed our order. From what my memory recalls, I do remember getting our ice cream fairly quick after ordering. I believe I ordered just your standard ice cream cone with chocolate in it. Maybe it was chocolate/vanilla. Sorry, but I honestly do not remember. Matt got himself an ice cream cone as well. Looking at their current menu (as of 2020), it seems they have a menu similar to most ice cream shacks, if not lacking a bit on the non-ice cream side of things. Having only been here the one time, I can't chime in on how good or bad those offerings are. Now, I do remember there being a foam/fiberglass ice cream cone outside the building. One that you can take fun photos with and post them across all the social media platforms. Sadly, I did not get one during this visit. I do vow to get one the next time I go back... whenever that will be. Maybe it's just a Central Illinois thing but Double D's does suffer from being a small building with outdoor seating only. Not that that is a bad thing but if the weather is not in your favor, it can make coming here a chore. Also, due to these places being seasonal and locally owned in a small building, the parking situation can be tough. Luckily for Double D's, there is a large parking lot next to this location that you can utilize. Other than that, my memory doesn't have much else to say about Double D's. I do hope to go back and try their food again. You may resume having your mind in the gutter. read more

Lots of ice cream choices! Drive thru and walk in service. They serve Uncle Bobs, locally made

this has been a family favorite for a couple generations,im an 80s born baby and i remember going there for the ice cream cones my children now enjoy. The staff are always hard working poliye and compassionate in what they do. the atmosphere has not changed there is something for the wholw family to enjoy!. read more

Such a cute little ice cream shop with delicious flavors and generous portion sizes. Has benches to sit outside in good weather, staff is friendly, and the prices are reasonable. read more

BEST ICE CREAM IN PEKIN! They updated the outdoor seating which was really nice. Staff are quick and I have never had a bad experience here.

Huge serving sizes. Great service. Can't beat the prices. Definitely a dive, but a treasure. Try the Boston Shake!

In my opinion, the best ice cream in Pekin! It's a small, family owned business that has been serving up ice cream and other items such as chili dogs for at least a couple decades now, if not more. read more

Love the ice cream and they even have Dairy Free Dole Whip!! Service is always great as well.

My wife and I have only been going here for little over a month but this is some of the best ice cream we have had. The Green Apple Butterscotch is definitely my favorite. That's my go to. read more

Best I've cream shop in Pekin. I love the flavor burst ice cream cones. Green apple is my favorite of the offerings. Always busy so hopefully you don't mind the wait. read more

The best ice cream place in the Peoria area. The Dole is dairy-free, and they can make Dole Arctic Swirls with cookie dough, Heath, Oreos, etc. It's all amazing and reasonably priced. Don't be scared away by the long lines- they move quickly. You can also buy quarts for your freezer (since this place isn't open year-round and no other place nearby has Dole). I don't live in Illinois anymore and miss this place! read more

They have both soft serve plus localy made real ice cream. I would, it's the place to good. But as far as I know, no burgers or hot dogs.

Double Ds is within walking distance from home and has been our favorite place for ice cream for a long time. It seems they are under new mgmt and the quality of service has slipped, in my opinion. The lines have always been an issue, but this isn't fast food and usually, the wait isn't too long. The servers are often sloppy and lack true customer service. We gave feedback to the owner/manager once and was treated very nicely. We have chosen a new spot for summer treats. read more

Just took the kids here today for the first time in years, and it was just the same as always - totally awesome! The soft serve is delicious, and they serve the cones with little edible eyes, which the kids go nuts for. Of course, we all ended up wearing more cone than we ate, because it was a little toasty outside, but it was fun to sit there and commune with our fellow humans over entirely too much sugar. read more

This is my favorite ice cream spot! They load it with candy, fudge, caramel or whatever you like. It's so good and great for the price!

I highly recommend getting ice cream from this place! They have a fabulous verity of yummy treats you can get!

The price you are charged depends on WHO waits on you at the window, one day you pay $6.60 for a quart of soft-serve and a few days later, the price is $7.73. And you don't ever get the proper change back. read more

It's a simple ice cream shop. Better prices than chain places, but nothing outstanding. The ice cream is much better than Dairy Queen down the road. However, their menu speaker doesn't work so it has made for an all around awkward experience for me in the past. read more

Double D's Ice Creme - Medium cookie dough arctic swirl. Just under four dollars. - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Pekin, Illinois

They have very reasonable prices. They also have a dairy free option, a huge plus for many people! The small ice cream was more than enough to share! Easy in and out parking for sunny days, but a convenient, covered drive through window for rainy ones! read more

Double D's Ice Creme - This is the "small" cup of ice cream! (That is s toddler hand!) - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Pekin, Illinois

Double D's is OPEN during the summer season, though at the moment due to staff shortages, only the drive-through is open. YUMMY soft serve with all of your favorite toppings! Always my favorite place to visit! read more

Excellent service, the young lady that waited on us was very quick. You could see in her eyes that she had a smile on her face.

The ice cream was good, and decent serving... however, service was ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. A young female employee didn't greet us and proceeded to constantly stare at us while we looked at the menu. (Mind you, it's our first time at this place.) then, slammed down her pen and walked away. Sorry we didn't pick fast enough! Then, had a young man take our order, by just standing at the register and not saying anything. I just picked mint chocolate chip so they could all stop staring and put us out of our misery. Won't be visiting again. read more

I've lived in Pekin basically my whole life and never went here. Everyone always raved about it but I always stuck with DQ. The other night I sat in the super long drive thru line (I have twins and it was raining lol) and got strawberry shortcakes and a few hot dogs. It was amazing!!!!!! I decided right then, DQ was out, DD's was in!!!! The staff is also so incredibly friendly, which I appreciate a lot!!!! read more

Since we movrd back to our hometown we've made several stops for cones and sundaes. Never disappointed.

Such a wonderful home town place. Ive seen some interesting reviews from others. They are just trashy people that think they have an opinion. If you want a good treat go to double d's!!!!! read more

Hands down the best icecream place in town. Always a must go when we visit Illinois. Get the cookie dough . They put a giant scoop of Cookie dough on top. The twist cone is amazing too. There is a drive through, but the benches outside are always clean and it's so nice to enjoy it outside. read more

Drive through service slow for some reason. Faster to just go inside. FYI they always have vanilla Dole for those who are lactose intolerant. read more

I just had a soft serve cone but what's not to like. It's a mom and pop ice cream stand.

Super large portions! My date had to end up having his cone dumped upside down in a bowl because of how much ice cream was piled on that little cone! My peanut buster parfait wasn't made correctly but it also wasn't officially on the menu so not a huge deal. There was an insane amount of peanuts though so I probably wouldn't order it here again. They had some really cool ice creams that were vanilla outlined somehow in other flavors?! I wasn't brave enough to try one on this trip but they looked cool! Very small inside with no seating but there is outside seating available. read more

Good place to get soft serve ice cream. Good tasting custard and good topping. It just opened for the new season and ready for service now. It had some flavored custards, but we just tried the normal vanilla. read more

Favorite ice cream place in town and not just because it's walking distance from my house. Whenever friends come for the first time I always warm them to order the next size down because of the generous portions. read more

I've been going here for many years and to this day, it does not disappoint. I recommend getting the cookie dough chiller. They slap a chunk of cookie dough on top of blended cookie dough and ice cream in a cup. read more

This is the place to go for soft serve ice cream treats in Pekin. The kids love getting cones with edible "eyes". Unfortunately, they closed early this season due to health problems. Hopefully the owners' children will take over in the spring of 2015. read more

Excellent ice cream, Taylor Gravity flow machines are the best. They had soft serve & hard ice cream both. They have a lot to offer, featured raspberry and blueberry plus the standards. Wish we lived closer! read more

I love this place!! Kaeli is an awesome worker!! I gave 4 instead of 5 stars because the cookie dough vanilla ice cream has wayyyyyy to much cookie dough... But I love this plax read more

This is such delicious ice cream either soft serve or hand made flavors . They have big portions and reasonable prices

Currently waiting in the drive though! Yes, the line is long and takes some time but it's so worth it. The girls deserve a chance, so don't be mean! The ice cream is delicious!! read more
