There were four of us so we grabbed a high top table in the bar area. Although college football was being played at the time the two TVs were showing news and a random sports talk show. We would have asked for the TVs to be changed, but we never got the chance to speak to a server. After sitting there for 10 minutes a server walked by and said she'd be right with us. Right after this a group walks in and tell the server they know her mom. She promptly sat them in the dining side and tended to their table. We waited for about 20 minutes and finally decided to leave as we had yet to even have our drink order taken. My wife's grandparents are property owners at Woodhaven and we come out occasionally. I definitely won't be back to Countryside and after telling them how bad the service was neither will they.

My wife ordered their loaded Bloody Mary, which was very good - it's a shoe-in to win the Best of Ogle County if people try it. The burgers were very good. They now have a draft beer, so I ordered one and it tasted fine. This is basically a side of the road bar and restaurant, ambiance wise. Nothing fancy, but not run down either. Just good food.

Yet we walked in, and were seated immediately, with a prompt visit by a server who took our drink orders while we looked over the menu. I chose their Smoked Roast Prime Rib. I enjoy smoked meats AND Prime Rib - so how could you go wrong? I ordered it with their mashed potato side. My wife had their Chicken George, which as you can see from the photo (updated photos are labeled 8/2026 visit) provided a LOT of Chicken. The Chicken George came with a dipping sauce, plus you have barbeque sauces also on the table. The chicken was fresh from the fryer and was very good. The Smoked Roast Prime Rib was exactly what it was called - the rind had a nice, smokey flavor to it. The Prime Rib was a nice cut, tender, and tasted great. This kind of feels like a country sports bar. Plenty of TV screens in the place, and wood walls give it a homey feeling. Service is very attentive even during high business periods and the manager checked in to see how our food was. So many good things - what's not to like?
