The location is wonderful with an amazing view of mt Etna. Probably if you go for a Spritz it is fine but we went for dinner and it was terrible: terrible service and terrible food. The waiter forgot we ordered an appetizer and, instead of simply apologizing, very aggressively told us we never ordered it. The ravioli Norma 2.0 were 4 medium/small ravioli with mushy eggplants inside and not much flavor. Two of us ordered the tuna that was supposed to be just seared on the outside and instead was completely dry as if it had been prepared before and reheated (both of us felt sick during the night.For a toddler we ordered a portion of simple pasta with tomato sauce and we were charged 23 euros. So our advise is to just go up for the view and never have dinner there. It is a real pity that a 4-star hotel does not control service and food quality. read more

I really wanted to like this hotel. The location is fantastic bring right on Via Etnea. You are surrounded by shops and cafes and a great number of tourist sights are within a short walking distance. The road the hotel is on is designated as a pedestrian zone so your taxi may not go all the way to the hotel entrance. Once entering the place, it is bright and airy with a dash of modern architecture. However, it kind of goes downhill from there...the reception staff are indifferent and most do not understand basic English. For example, I requested additional bath towels and got a robe. When trying to rectify the mistake, they offered me another robe. As for the room, it was beautiful and the ac worked great! However, the beds were twins you push together and the amount of times myself or husband fell into the crack was numerous to say the least...also, the shower/bath can be a safety hazard for anyone with mobility issues since to enter the shower you have to jump over about a foot of ceramic to enter. The risk of falling is high since the hand rails are not very close. The included breakfast is fine but nothing to cry home about. The eggs are soupy, the fruit stays the same with melon, the pastries are just okay. When booking a taxi for a morning flight, tell them way in advance and confirm, confirm, confirm! The taxi I got was incredibly confused and took 10 minutes for him to determine how many passengers he had (just the two of us). Three stars because location and ac is something that simply can't be beat! read more

By far my favorite hotel that we stayed at while in Sicilia. It's smack dab in the heart of city center Catania and felt completely safe at all hours walking around. Staff here is abosolutely amazing....friendly, hospitable and professional....Alessandra was especially wonderful with offering suggestions and helping us out arranging transfers, places to go, etc. Breakfast was probably one of my faves that we had....they had it all, fresh squeezed juices, Italiano and American offerings along with one of the best croissants I've had in my life (if you haven't tried one with pistachio filling, it is a must). Room was spacious for two people and had a nice shower area. The AC is strong within the unit so if that's your thing you will be happy here. Their rooftop bar was the first and last place we had drinks at in Sicilia and offers panoramic views of the city including the Duomo and Mt Etna. We had dinner there one night and the seabass was delicious. All in all, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I would come back if I was ever in Catania again or in another city where this hotel brand represented! read more

Breakfast was included with our 3 night stay. It was actually good and what pushes it over was the fact that prosecco was available to make a mimosa or a bellini and my daughter was all about having a bubbly for her morning refreshment. She thoroughly enjoyed it. Additionally the staff at reception was very very happy and according and were effusive and helpful. They told us about what the hotel offered and the various sites and shopping opportunities. The hotels central location was also a high point. It was walking distance to everything. The only reason why I did not give it a five star is that the room was a bit cramped for 3 people. We told them in advance about our need for a larger room but somehow it was not accommodated. The shower also was poorly designed. Water splashed everywhere and it was very hard to mopped up all of the excess water. The rooms also needed to be upgraded. Since this hotel does get a lot of foot traffic, they should invest in some of their profit to upgrade the premises. read more

My second time in Italy on my layover for work and I have to say I loved Catania so much! I would have to say it's TOP 2 with my favorite layovers. The hotel was located literally in the heart of downtown. The people were so friendly and you just really feel a vibe here. The hotel has an amazing rooftop bar/restaurant with breathtaking views ! The gym was also located with beautiful wide windows of the whole city. I loved this place so much I LITERALLY CANT WAIT TO GO BACK ON A LAYOVER! I would HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend booking this hotel if you want the greatest experience in Sicily! read more

We stayed here as a part of a cruise pre-cruise package. I would have made this a three star review had it not been for the unbelievable seafood served in the restaurant and for the level of quiet in the rooms. The hotel was 100% full, but you would never know it. The dish of salmon with artichokes was just divine. Overall, the room has several quirks we weren't prepared for related to the air conditioning. There is a governor (min temp) controlled by the front desk at 27 Celsius. Go and ask them to lower that threshold. Also, the AC will not turn on if the window is not closed all the way. We must've gotten the one with the window where you have to hold your face just right in order to get it closed. The electric was able to adapt to my converter no problem, but the button placements and functions were sometimes baffling. The one extension you would use next to the nightstand is 12 inches above the table so your cords look like a mess using it. Again, this hotel has its quirks but I'm a fan of the restaurant and the quiet room. read more

How does this place get 4.5 stars?? I'm only reviewing the rooftop bar. The rooftop bar had exactly 4 customers and yet the waitress escorted us to some lousy seats on the side of the rooftop. It didn't make much sense until we saw the "view." The View-come and look at the majestic dumps that are in front of Mt. Etna. 12 Euro for the same drink that a block away was 3 Euro. If the view was appealing, I could have stomached it, but it was a view of favelas. After about 15 minutes, we were treated to some stale chips. I mean really stale. Another couple sat next to us and were promptly ignored until the guy had to get up and fetch the apparently overworked waitress. We finished our crap drinks and fled, 24 Euro poorer. What exactly did we pay the quadruple price for, you ask? No friggen clue. Avoid this place unless you like to waste money. I sat on this for a bit but ultimately decided it was worth it; telling the truth because this was a steaming pile of ragu. By the way, I was born in a 3rd world country during a war that we fled as refugees. So i know dumps. read more

This is judged by the standards of a hotel in a historic building in an Italian town and it comes out as a very good one (this is not a five-star hotel, so one should not expect absolute perfection here). During our stay, the central AC system was broken, I think this was a fluke and do not count it against the score. Good things: staff is very helpful, breakfast buffet is excellent, as is the Etnea Roof Garden restaurant on the 7th floor with gorgeous views of the city and a truly excellent chef (this is arguably the best place in town). The rooms are very clean and in great shape. The location is on the main street that is well-maintained and feels pretty safe. The main city attractions (there are not too many in the Catania proper) are extremely close. The size and layout is a expected in a historic budling (not large, but perfectly adequate for two people. Bed is great, room had a sizable balcony (note that there are practically no views at the floors with the rooms). Minor note (as said, I do not expect this amenity at a 4-star European hotel): there are no 100V (US) sockets (hint to the owners: one in the bathroom would be nice, as many US dental machines do not take 220V) . It would have been five stars had I not had to argue with housekeeping that I was granted late checkout and thus had a precious additional hour in which to rest. Anyway, the AC was ice cold and the bed was super comfy. It is located in a busy shopping and tourist area so lots of things are nearby but our room was very quiet. The morning breakfast is terrific--lots of variety, plenty of prosciutto(!) and great, fresh juices. Their rooftop restaurant was also good. Quality food, a bit pricey, with a view of Mt. Etna. The hotel overall was just fine, until, a staff member, most likely housekeeping stole a brand new blouse from my suitcase. They left the cash tip that I left but took my blouse. I have not heard anything from the hotel regarding this matter. I also sent out laundry for the hotel to do and one of my tops returned to me with a big perfect circular stain on the front. Beautiful location to enjoy a quiet cocktail on the patio with a view of Mount Etna and we had a lovely delight of seeing fireworks after sunset. The cocktails were yum, I enjoyed the Passion Una (they didn't is simple syrup so it was a bit rainy but we loved it) the snacks are plentiful with your beverages a full array of lite bites to choose from. Truly a sophisticated atmosphere to enjoy the more relaxed side of Catania. read more

This hotel is centrally located in the old town part of Catania. After a long day of travel, it was a very welcome reprieve. The staff were super, super friendly and helpful. The room was very luxurious - more so than expected - with linen towels, marble tub and sink, and a nicely decorated room. There is a wonderful rooftop restaurant and bar. We had planned to go out to dinner, and instead enjoyed some lovely wine and free snacks while taking in views of the sea and Mount Etna. The breakfast spread in the morning was fantastic, and they made a damn fine cappuccino. Valet was efficient and fast at bringing our car around the next day. read more
