This place was alright I have to say.. my coworker was craving some American food since we've been in Europe since oct 20th and he found this spot so we gave it a try. My thing is... idk why in Europe it's so common to have bbq sauce on burgers and chicken wings in Europe I guess it's like a staple here lol I really don't care for bbq sauce that much so I already was expecting the food to be alright. The beer on tap was good tho I will say and the place was packed! I ordered a burger with some fries and onion rings I'll say that the burger was good but it started to break apart because of the amount of grilled onion and the type of bread they used. I'll give the burger a 4/5 for flavor and just all around experience at this spot. Would I go here again? Yeah I would why not I'll try something different next time ! read more

Maybe it was from all the walking and coffee I had before coming here, but my appetite wasn't the best so I could not defeat the monster sandwich they placed in front of me. Honestly, it was not the best burger I ever had and the beef patty could've tasted better. Perhaps if my stomach were in a different mood, I would have enjoyed every bite a lot more! I usually consume a whole burger if it exists in front of me, but I had to take half of mine home. I went with the "Eg Burger" which was pretty much a bacon cheeseburger with an egg. It was indeed good. I'd like to try a non-burger product here next time. If anything, the best place about this joint is the nice ambience and service. For example, we ordered the "Ors Burgher," a monstrous sandwich featuring a horse meat patty (a delicacy of Catania!), onions, lettuce, pepper jack cheese, and local wild greens fried with garlic and olive oil, all on a homemade seeded ciabatta-like bread. This was one of the few times I've ever eaten horse, and the lean meat went perfectly with the earthy greens and the pepper jack cheese, which had been melted and crisped up along the edges. We also had the Shek Burgher, made of a donkey meat patty (my first time eating this!), along with tomato, mixed salad, smoked buffalo mozzarella, mushrooms, Giarratana onions, and BBQ sauce. Wow, I'm amazed at the portion size at this place. Being from California, Fud has the vibe of a brewery/gastropub with burgers, pizzas, hotdogs, you name it! I got one of their patatine dishes with bacon and cheese with their aranciata. The bacon was a little too salty for me, but the fries were on point. The aranciata they serve is organic!! Super bubbly but very yummy. My friends that I was with got their focaccias. Beware, their pizzas here and focaccia portions are gigantic; you are better off sharing one for SURE. For about 10 euro, it is so worth it. As for the pizzas they range from 5-10 euro but it looked so promising. Fud is an MUST TRY place for burgers in italy. This is the closest place that I've found that gave a semi-authentic American feel with regards to food and beers. I wasn't too impressed with the beers as they seemed to have missed the mark on what an American beer is. It tasted as though the beer wasn't fermenting long enough so it tasted sem-flat. I definitely say give it a try and don't solely take my opinion for face value. The burgers were pretty good. I'm a huge fan of eggs on my burger and this place had the bomb EGG Burger. Man!!! The only downfall for me was the wait. I've been here twice and I was quoted 20 minutes both times and wasn't seated for at least 40 - 60 minutes. The place is pretty packed compared to all the other resturants on the block so you know they are doing something right. I can't forget to mention the cheese cake. IT IS FREAKING AMAZING!!. I sampled a friend's fries and regretted not getting some myself, they are simply amazing! This place is fun! I love the menu and the American fare they provide. Great house-brewed beers as well! My wife and I enjoyed our meal here during our stay in Catania. Even though the server repeated the order to us correctly we received the wrong order another 45 minutes later.
