The spicy fish soup with red curry was insanely delicious, although to call it spicy is a stretch. It's essentially a soup version of a panang curry dish, which for me is a good thing. I'm always a bit wary to order fish soups in case they are just throwing in a bunch of over-the-hill seafood, but this was by far my favorite dish of the entire meal and 100% fresh. Try it! My main course was underwhelming--I got the Arctic char, which although was fresh a and high-quality filet, lacked any discernible other than the radish root it was served over--I actually added the chili sauce that came with the bread to help it out. The beef stroganoff several in our party ordered was much more flavorful, although we Americans do find it hard to get used to the sliced-bread-like dumplings served in Austria. The beef itself was tender and really delicious. As a previous reviewer pointed out, the octopus is fresh but lacks taste; a little seasoning or marinade would go a long way. Beef tartare looked amazing, and was artfully served over a circular layer of avocado. The hipster servers were efficient and friendly, and it was fun eating on the funky anchored boat. I was afraid Holy Moly would be a tourist trap, but it wasn't--there seemed to be a lot of locals in there, and anyway who cares when the food is good? All in all a very cool dining experience if you're looking for something different--just don't go if you're in a basic steak and potatoes mood. They do serve tripe, although you'll have to let me know how it is, since my taste buds aren't nearly brave enough!

Oh yeah, part of the ship which is permanently anchored in the canal near Schwedenplatz is a swimming pool. Which is incidental to the fact that it is permanently located in the canal. But I digress. Hubby and I decided to check out Holy Moly on a Tuesday "date" night and were pleasantly surprised when we did not need reservations to secure a prime spot on the lower deck (upper deck reserved for sun bathers of which there were none on a brisk March night.) Servers were very pleasant - you read that right, plural. More on that to follow. The menu was explained to us as in reality, it is quite complex. Bottom line is you can order ala carte or you can order 3, 4 or 5 courses and choose from the ala carte menu. Ok, you got my number with that one, so order with abandon I did for three courses. But first the drinks; I wanted a bellini, it had just been one of those days; bellini's they do not have. Ingenuity and creativity, check - they came up with a champagne mixed with a house made fruit syrup that was delicious. Hubby got a draft beer. First came out a nice basket of bread with a chili dipping sauce. First course for me was a smoked salmon with passion fruit sauce, first course for hubby was the "Holy Moly Fish Soup" which promised some heat. Smoked salmon was ok, over salted, but the passion fruit sauce was great, albeit a little 'seedy' which one sort of expects with the fruit but the texture didn't quite work. Hubby's soup was nice, but definitely not with heat, though our palettes may not be at the same 'spice detection' as the Viennese. So, we were even starting the score card for Holy Moly. Next course for me was "marinated sardines wrapped around rice" and for hubby, the beef tartar. Hubby definitely got the better of the two dishes; his was delicious, it was a mold of avocado puree with the beef on top. Spectacular. I was jealous. So when they say marinated sardines, they didn't actually mean anything more then that was done to them. Not sure what the marinade was, somewhat uninspired. Next course for me was the grilled octopus, hubby got a lamp dish. The grilled octopus could have been great. If it had any flavor. It was served with a slice of polenta (literally, you could still see the mold), black beans and the grilled pieces of slightly over charred octopus. It was good, but with a splash of lime juice or a nice sprinkle of salt this would have been great. I didn't try hubby's lamp, but I think for this course, I took the better of the two dishes. Overall, I would definitely eat here again, for three courses, 28 Euros was reasonable and the atmosphere can't be beat. The servers were an effective team; it was incredible to watch them all work together and it was seamless, like having a whole team on your side - and very nice to boot! Will be a fun place to bring out-of-towners. And I think they have a carry out lunch service under a different name. I'll let you know next time. Because for sure there will be.

This is a grocery store that Americans will feel home in…read more Just something I don't see much near the city center in Europe when traveling. Usually you get the small corner stores that sell you items for the day but this was a true grocery store in the American sense. It's at one end of the shopping center that isn't too far from the Hilton Vienna Danube. Inside the center there is also a drug store and another Target like store in addition to H&M and several other clothing stores. I didn't peruse upstairs but there is a whole other level of stores. Once you get to the grocery store, if you want a cart you have to put in some coins (I'm guessing probably at least a 50 cent euro piece but I didn't look). You get it back when you return the cart. I was looking for a basket since I wasn't shopping for much and that was a bit harder to find. They have ones that have wheels on them in addition to the regular baskets you can carry around. There is a whole section of fresh produce, hot prepared foods and a bakery in the back. There is also pet foods, laundry soap and a drug store/cosmetics section. There is a whole section in the middle with chocolates so take a look there if yo are looking for the Mozart chocolates. Very much like a grocery store at home. There is a self checkout available and you can pick English. Only thing is you will have to have someone help you after you are done if you are from the US since our cards have pins but are signature required.

I love the history attached with the winery--Beethoven supposedly was living here when he wrote his 9th symphony. The bread as in Austria was wonderful as well. The meats were good as well and particularly liked the schnitzel. The wine was really good, we were a bit worried with it being young wine but enjoyed it especially with soda water. Our 17 year old enjoyed being legal in Austria and partook of it a bit too generously :). The interior was clean and comfortable with its traditional wooden tables and benches.
