Once I got my ramen, it was barely warm and the outside of the bowl was sticky. The staff wasn't friendly

Okay, really a 3-star place but because this was exactly what we were looking for to satisfy our…read moreramen craving while abroad, it gains an extra star. A disclaimer: I realize that I'm probably spoiled by the mass of ramen joints that are in the Bay Area. As a result, I judge ramen places pretty highly. The 3-star rating is not to say that the ramen was terrible, but it is certainly not ranked among the best. Tonkotsu Ramen. Usually when I think of tonkotsu, I think of a rich and flavorful broth, as tonkotsu is traditionally stewed from pork bones for hours and hours. This broth fell a bit short of flavorful. The noodles, pork, and toppings were delicious (I always appreciate a perfectly soft boiled egg), but the broth is really what makes or breaks a ramen to me. Kara Miso Ramen. For those who like a bit of spice with their ramen. Or maybe not a bit of spice? I'm usually a super wimp when it comes to spice, and the slightest hint will have me reaching for a glass of water to rinse it all out. This one didn't do too much for me. I felt a little bit of heat lingering on my tongue afterwards, but I was expecting a bigger kick. The meat on this bowl was also a little dried out. I can definitely see why this place would do well in this neighborhood; it fulfills a need that is missing, which is exactly why we ventured into Umamido. Great for an area that is slim on authentic ramen choices; not so great for someone who comes from an area that is saturated with ramen.

I surely will not recommend that place, don't worth the price, no taste (put the extra egg)…read more I could also talk about the disrespectul student staff...the only japanese vibe you will get is the Honda Motocompo they show in the front window (very nice).

An unexpected delight for dinner! Nothing beats warm soup on a cold day and this ramen hit the…read morespot. One of the few Asian restaurants you will find here, they serve ramen and only ramen, except for a plate of gyoza I saw at the table next to me. There is a choice between 5 types and I went with the shio or natural flavor. It was slightly heavier than the normal shio broth but lighter than a traditional tonkatsu. It had all the right notes of umami. The noodles were handmade and slightly larger and softer than I generally like them but held the broth well. The perfect amount of toppings with an egg, charsiu, sprouts, bamboo shoots and spring onion. For €12 a bowl, it was excellent value. I would say the only thing that could help it land 5 stars would be a better ambiance. It was quiet as a library, no music and just a handful of customers for an early dinner. However I would definitely return to try another lovely bowl!

Kitchen is perfectly clean, neat and purposefully arranged for efficient cooking and serving. Staff speaks Japanese (except the two western ladies). All were very kind and the service was swift. I was a bit disappointed by the gyoza. They were good but a bit too greasy to my taste. It was prepared in front of my eyes (boiled then panned) and nothing noticeable happened. My Shoyu ramen with extra slices of pork was quite good but there again the soup base was a bit too oily/greasy to be perfectly to my taste. Bottom line, I'm giving a 4th star to the boss (I assume he was) because he speaks English and Korean (thumbs up), besides Japanese and was very nice with me. I will come back with friends and hope they will have fine-tuned the "greasy" part in the meantime.

There is a big table that people share and they give enough space in between. We had as a starter the typical Japanese dumplings. And they were delicious. You really should try them out. The main course was also very good and tasteful. The service was good and they spoke french and dutch ( not easy to find this combination in brussels ;) ) I'll go back for sure !!!

Now, little did I know that this was gonna turn out to be an awesome restaurant! I liked everything about it: The decor is minimalist, juts concrete and wood, most of the the tables are benches, the owners/staff are way hipper than I am, and the food sounded promising. I ordered some Sashimi for starters which was a good choice and the Spicy pork ramen as a main, which turned out to be excellent! My spot at the bar allowed me to see the food coming out of the kitchen, and the Tuna salad looked amazing and would be my go to try next time round! The staff was very friendly and attentive as well. I'm definitely gonna come back, next time I'm in town.
