The food is quite good and is one of the few places I have left food on my plate because I was full and satisfied. I do wish the food was a bit less greasy but understandable considering it is fried. The boils are on point and the whole family agreed we will be ordering takeout boils in the future. Our only true complaint was the lack of actual silverware instead of plastic utensils. It makes eating the crab boil a bit of a challenge without silverware and a proper plate instead of a plastic basket. All in all we will be back. We noticed while there they had a comedy night and that is something we would like to attend in the future as well.

It's a really solid place for lunch, so much so that coming here is my bribe anytime my husband drags me to the ATV place up the street. Lol I love their lobster rolls - both the hot and cold ones are great. You usually get some really big chunks of claw meat too, which is fantastic. I also always get a cup of clam chowder and some type of oyster. They have several types of baked oysters, and their raw ones are always shucked really well. I'm a big fan.

This wasn't really the fault of our server, who was extremely nice to us, although our order did get botched. I was afraid that might happen when she didn't write it down. She was attentive and gave good recommendations (including that the flounder wasn't particularly good that night), so I give her points. She was the best part of our experience. My husband had the broiled shrimp and said it was very good. Our roommate had fried shrimp. I ordered fried oysters and fried catfish, but got fried catfish and fried shrimp instead. Our server apologized and brought me a small bowl with some oysters, and only charged me for the shrimp and catfish. The oysters were absolutely delicious - I just wish I'd gotten a full order of them. The shrimp were also excellent, if only I'd really wanted shrimp. My share of the french fries was a smaller portion than I get at other Mayflowers. My sweet tea wasn't good at all! It tasted more like tra sweetened with Stevia or Sweet N' Low than sugar. Sweet Tea in the south is not Diet Sweetener Tea. I hope this was just because we came in later in the evening. I admit to being picky about my tea! Restaurant itself was typical of the Mayflowers and clean. We'll go back and I hope that I get a full order of oysters that are as good as the sample I got this time.

The good news is our server was amazing and she should seek employment elsewhere. The interior looks nice and has a good aroma. It was 3 people with me and nobody was happy with their meal. The food looks good but nothing had seasoning. The flounder had scales on it. The shrimp was double breaded to make it look jumbo. The Ice Tea was nasty. The only good part of my meal was the French fries. The waitress did apologize and take one meal off the bill. I heard this place use to be good several years ago but they really need to file bankruptcy and stop wasting people time.

I wasn't expecting much since the menu had so many options, but they delivered! We started with the Gyoza which came with a mild hot sauce - highly recommend. I also had the Bulleit Proof cocktail which was delicious, I could have had two or three! Next came salads - both the sesame and ginger dressings were homemade and really tasty. Then came entrees - I had the filet mignon cooked medium with steamed broccoli. Was cooked perfectly and melted in my mouth. My wife had the shrimp with rice and that was also cooked to perfection and the sauce was excellent. We also ordered the Jay's BLT burger which was also very good, but be sure to add the patty if you want a burger on it! Our server, Nathan, was very attentive and provided excellent service with recommendations. Well done, Jay's Kitchen! We will definitely be back!

The positive first: The lime mojito was probably the best I've had. The salsa is close to the best in Goldsboro. My son raved over his birria tacos. That was it... 3 things form the entire meal. The wait time from order to receiving food seemed a little long since there was less than a handful of people when we arrived. The guacamole was edible but not as good as it should be. My younger son and I asked for no cheese sauce on the kids burrito and he got it anyway. Tamales are hard to find and to get them with questionable looking ground beef and beans dumped on them was disappointing. They were okay once I scrapped that off. The refried beans were terrible. The rice was okay and the black beans tasted like they came strait from a can. The deal breaker is when the waiter came and told me he made a mistake. He proceeded to tell me he gave another table my ticket and flashed a signed ticket and proceeded to show me their tab that was almost $5 more and asked me if I would just pay their ticket. He kept saying something about him paying the $5 but he was not saying how and I was put on the spot. I asked him to remove a $2 item on that ticket and agreed just to get it over with. He should have reprinted my ticket and dealt with the mistake behind the scenes.

Its started as one cook renting out a spot in a mini-mart (true definition of "hole in the wall"). My regular order? I go with a large jerk chicken with a coco bread, extra plantains on the side and steamed veggies to replace the rice (lowering my rice intake is quite hard). Every time I step into the mini-mart, the cook knows my order. So far, he has never let me down on taste, preparation, customer service and price. I keep forgetting to post pictures because I demolish my to-go plate each time. Devouring the chicken down to the bone. If you're doubting this review, lets grab a bite together. So far, this is the best Jamaican Jerk restaurant I've been to. The food is prepared fresh each time. Never had a piece of chicken undercooked or overcooked from here. I'll make sure I post a picture next week when I pick up my order. Trust me, this is the place to go to when you want jerk chicken.

The buffet was well stocked and had some of the beat sides of all the Buffet's here in Goldsboro. I saw a sign saying they offer military discount, but didn't think to ask before paying. Only one style of bbq available, a very vinegar based soggy blend, which takes the rating down one star, and the awkward - "pay before you enter" - experience, especially when you didn't bring cash to tip and the server doesn't know if you tipped $10 or $1... nor do you get to reflect the service with your tip if you aren't prepared with cash. That process reduces it to three stars. The great sides and great fried chicken, along with pork hop and fish options, as well as stellar desert and sufficient salad bar all make this a very viable lunch option, I will definitely be back and will update my ratings based on my second look.
