I went for a training day at St Helier Hospital this week and walked past this store on my way to the hospital
Having now lived in the UK for a few decades, some of the British cynicism has rubbed off on me. When I saw the words 'Ultimate Store', my first reaction was for that little voice in my head (doesn't everyone have one?) to say,'Yeah, right!'
However, the lure of foods from more exotic parts of the world advertised on the shopfront made me have a little peep at what was on offer. Well, I had to eat my world eary words. They had the freshest looking rambutans I have seen in the UK
For those who don't know, rambutan is a tropical fruit. It looks a little strange - red with a tangle of soft bristles on the outside. It most closely resembles a lychee - peel the skin to reveal a sweet fleshy layer with a central seed. I like to eat them chilled and these were delicious
