The selection on the whole is pretty good, though the lack of fresh groceries makes it not much more than a place to grab munchies and a drink or two. Tobacco, lotto and scratch cards are also readily available, and its central location makes it convenient. There is not much to speak of service-wise at Lavi convenience store. Not much recognition is awarded to regular customers (I've been going for a while) and on the odd occasion one will wait for the shop keeper to finish chatting with his mates before getting served. Certain prices are also exorbitant: in particular blank CDs and most of the sweet shelf. It's unfortunate that this small, well-positioned convenience store doesn't have that all important word 'family' attached to it.

Staff at this particular branch are always very efficient, though their friendliness declines at times simply because the shop is too busy. It's also a great place to get 'six for a fiver', or six 540ml beers for £5. Try saying "six for a fiver" fast after that! If a larger grocery store is not open or nearby, and this Londis is, I'd suggest a visit. Despite the nefarious quality of goods you sometimes find in off-licenses, Londis usually stocks recognisable brand names. And it's always fun trying to guess the cultural origins of some of the pickled varieties of food you'll find in-store. Warning: staff at this branch can be rude!

If you missed the chance to get your closest Sainsbury's then Al's is your next best bet. They've got all the usual household stuff you need, sweets, confectionaries, fresh bread and drinks. And, if you need to top up your Oyster card, Al's is the only off license in the immediate area that offers Oyster card top ups as well as travel cards.

It's open super early, like way before the roosters come out to cock-a-doodle-do. This place is not just good for basic off-licence needs. Their magazine selection is impressive. Their publication section takes up nearly a quarter of their shop and the titles that they carry range from basic Sun to highly stylish Tank. So, if you're on the go and you need to handle business, but you'd also like something good to read on the bus, this is the shop for you.

What makes a convenience store good? They're all much of a muchness. Magazines, newspapers, crisps,…read moresweets, drinks, some basic food...that's about it. So, it's got to be the little things that you look out for. One of the things I really like about Michaels is the fact that they don't charge you for using a card. Great stuff when all you want is a bus pass in the morning. And it's open early. Not sure how early, but It's always been open when I've left the house. It's quite a big store for a local corner shop - so there is some choice when it comes to regular foodstuffs, and because it's pretty big it isn't one of those places that you're afraid to turn around while wearing a backpack in case you demolish an entire shelf. The staff are lovely, and thus far have never failed to call me Sir - even when I'm hungover, buying monster munch in shorts and a vest. So, a very nice shop indeed.
