The salon is clean, it smells good, everyone is nice, but best of all...their work is GREAT. Helen worked on my nails and her experience shows in her technique. She took under an hour which makes me want to cry thinking about the 2 hours and a half I wasted over at a different salon. Came in on my day off to get my nails done for a fitness competition I have this weekend. Saw all of the positive Yelp reviews, and it was very convenient to where I live. When I first arrived I was a little surprised because it seems to be in need of a little TLC... But I thought, no matter, that doesn't mean they won't do a good job. They were able to get me started right away, great I thought! As I sat there, no one really said anything to me other than the necessary questions, I tried to strike up conversation but that was a fail. Looking around I noticed that the place seemed quite dirty (floors, unkept manicure stations, etc.) The gentleman there started on my pedicure while I was at the manicure station, which was a little bit of a bummer (because I wanted to enjoy the massage chair) and it was a little awkward having to contort my body one way for her to do the manicure and the other way for the pedicure. I was trying to keep it simple, just solid white on both (no problem right?). He finished my pedicure really quickly, and I was too busy watching her do my nails to see if there was anything funky going on with the pedicure. So looking past the first couple red flags, I had shown Helen a picture of what I was wanting, coffin/ballerina shape, preferably on the short side, one color, 5 rhinestones on one nail, simple. So the whole time I had to point out areas that were missed, uneven, or crooked. I started getting bugged but, this is what she does for a living so trust that it will be fine. No. Once the color went on the babysitting continued, I had to ask that she redo a couple nails that she bumped and got messed up rather than her just leaving it to look poorly done. Also, my finger was bumped with the electric file, and it hurt and bled a little... No reaction, apology, or even asking if I was ok. Fast forward almost two hours and I'm barely finished. I had somewhere to be, that I had to tell them I needed to go. Finally when I went to check out, their pricing posted inside was as follows $20 acrylic set, $16 pedicure, $2 per nail design ($4 total) = $40 (correct?) she quotes me something higher and I say wait... Lay out the addition... They tell me no, and then tell me something lower but still not $40. I am needing to leave so I say ok whatever, not going to argue, just pay and go. Then looking down at my nails I see that all of them have numerous bubbles. Seriously? So I quietly say, since there are other customers around, "hey look I'm really not trying to be a pest but all of my nails have bubbles, I don't have the time to have anyone fix it now, can I come back tomorrow?" They say sure, what time? Now I've worked in customer service before and generally when something is amiss with the service someone receives you compensate accordingly, especially if extra time is needed to fix a mistake that was not by fault of the customer. That is obviously not their policy here, proceeded to run my card for the full amount and said see you tomorrow. -_- Not sure if I want to return after work to see if tomorrow will be better. read more
