Thought to try this cafe for lunch after a friend gave it a raving review recently. He boasted…read moreabout the huge-under-20-dollar-breakfast-for-two he & his partner dine in for every Saturday morning. Oh, and the coffee. The coffee is the best he's ever had in Melton. So, given the limited cafe options around here already, and the fact that it was already 3pm, I decided to go for a walk, work up an appetite, and stop by for some lunch. And thankfully a friend did tell me about this place because I otherwise would not have found it. Nestled away as one of the outside stores of Central Walk on High St, is a cosy and modernly-decorated, new little cafe that has dining facilities both inside, and out the front. It also has a very efficient take-away system (I ordered take-away, then decided to sit at one of the outside tables and enjoy my coffee, it was that good) The staff are very friendly and quick to serve you. And whilst gazing indecisively at the many options they still had left on display, which included things like prepared focaccias & various sandwiches, vegetarian baguettes, pastizzis (yes, that's right, pastizzis! I know, I ohemgee'd too) and things like Mediterranean savoury slices, and many homemade sweets and cakes, I discovered through conversation with two of the lovely staff that they cater for groups and functions, vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free. My eyes and my stomach just couldn't agree on anything so after not wanting to end a great conversation with what felt like new friends, I settled upon a HUGE egg, lettuce and mayo sandwich ($4!) and a regular cap. Oh, and I really do have to mention this because it was one of my very favourite things about this experience, my take-away cappuccino came with a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup sitting atop it! That alone, is a great reason for you to at least order coffee from here (Also, if you've never had a Reese's product, get yourself to an international lolly store, stat!) Oh, and the coffee? I won't be ordering coffee from anywhere else in Melton. Better than Gloria Jeans down at Woodgrove, and better than Starbucks in general. By the way, that lunch cost me $7.50. And for the best coffee I've had in a long time, and the biggest and tastiest $4 sandwich I've ever had (with half still leftover in the fridge for later) I would definitely visit this place again. Perfect for students and couples and those looking for a quality cafe experience that ticks all the boxes.

A somewhat hidden cafe next to KFC in the Marsh that has the sweetest staff…read more Coffee isnt bad and the food is hearty. Love the set up, dog friendly out back and then cosy inside; with your choice to sit in one of the three areas within the cottage.

There are rumours abound that Bacchus Marsh has a dearth of decent coffee shops and modern menus…read more I'm here to tell you it's not true. Back Black Espresso Bar was once a house that has been turned into a cafe. You can be seated one of three rooms, or outside. Sitting in one of the front two rooms gives a feeling of visiting a friend's home, a posh friend who has a cook and staff, that is. I've been here a few times for breakfast and have a favourite in 'Getting Figgy with it': sourdough toast topped with fig chutney, Meredith Farm Goats feta and a generous serving of bacon. A great mix of sweet, salty and the unmistakable tang of goats cheese for a well balanced and very filling meal. A close 2nd favourite is the french toast which can come plain, with maple and bacon or a sweet offering of lemon curd, edible flowers and icecream. The latter I am yet to try but my dining companion assured me it was pretty amazing. The coffee is excellent - I'm now a straight-up espresso drinker, no milk or sugar to spoil the purity of the pour - and I can say this is some of the best coffee I've had. Sorry that it's not on commute route otherwise I'd be a daily visitor.
