So, I basically picked a random coffee shop to go and grab some breakfast, and it turned out to be this one. Well, this actually ended up being a pretty decent place to grab a bite to eat. BIG DIFFERENCE (Sept 3rd.2016)…read more I never tend to stop at the same place twice when eating at restaurants, cafes, drive-inns, dinners, or what ever sensational eatery is established. although from what powers that be in circumstances unbeknown to me and company we had ventured to territory that brought us full circle to the same place with BIG DIFFERENCES. FIRST: Going into Gisborne. With so many little this and that cafes. The Jolly Miller Café 29A Brantome Street Gisborne Victoria 3437 (03) 5428 3414 https://www.yelp.com.au/biz/the-jolly-miller-caf%C3%A9-gisborne?utm_source=ashare&ref=yelp-android Company had chicken avocado sandwich (a more then simple request/ no fancy dancin or additives) and me: a Quiche Lorraine. (Not something hard to find in most Australian eateries) 3stars and a blink of .25 for quickness. How was the overall experience? Well.... I once wrote to a classmate friend from high school who had enlisted for the army. He took on what is known in the US as one of the toughest roles in the army- Army Rangers. During mess (meal times) he explained that when entering the mess hall to eat if you see your Sgt. Major sitting and still eating... Your fine and still have time to eat... If not... And he begins to stand up your in trouble! Worse if you haven't even sat down to eat and he/she stands up... You can forget eating! Well. It was all so quick! and like this! The food came before I sat. Nothing special to it cause it was dumped on the plate. And the second company and I were done someone (as if watching for our last bite) picked up the plate. And the water glasses were out so when I asked for one I had to get my own. The worker I asked forgot about me asking and my company hated that the glass was hot to begin with cause I pulled it from the top of their coffee maker machine. *note: Quiche Lorriane was very Oily! (Could have drained the bacon before putting into mix) anyway... Got In the car and started looking for other places to see. We drove into Sunbury. And some mystical force lead us back into another Jolly Miller in Sunbury.. (Because everything else carried an unattractive feel to it in price) A whopping 4.5stars with extra bling because unlike their counter part in Grisborne... They: 1- were much more oriented to service! 2- water glasses were not the problem AND- *they noted it before it was brought to their attention that there wasn't any pitchers of water, but they were bringing it over to our table. And it was taller! Cleaner and not hot! ((((LOL)))) 3- it didn't feel like boot camp And they even asked how we enjoyed everything (while still sitting down) It was a strange discovery of sorts seeing that i stopped into the same business (franchised) in two seperate towns. BIG DIFFERENCE!!! But the Tim Tam slice is quite the Sunbury/Jolly Miller experience.. They make up the 3.5 to the 1.0 star from their sibling Gisborne location. What a BIG DIFFERENCE between twins!

Seats are available outside on the veranda which is great for the warmer weather. Breakfast is served until 11:30, not all day which is what I thought. A little sweet talking at midday did get me a big breakfast though. The food was nice, speedy service, we got our meals with only a short wait. A good size serve of all the various bits making up the big breakfast. Bread was white slice, which was fine but also I thought a little strange considering that they also appear to be advertising as a gourmet place. (The only bad bit was my spinach, I suspect I got a full pinch of salt caught in a leaf as it was super salted and I couldn't eat it. The husbands serve was okay though.) There is a lovely green area fenced off for children to play in. Also in the same building the is the Wyndham Cache shop which sells local produce and products as well as some imports of more exotic gourmet food. I was able to get some nice free range eggs and some good sauerkraut which I'm looking forward to using. The also had some produce, frozen goods and meat and a huge selections of sauces, jams and spice mixes. A fun little place, great for a group I think with the space available. Somewhere to try a few more times with friends.

Mambos also always have numerous staff on the floor - almost too many(!) but that's a good thing as they're always buzzing due to being in a shopping centre and also next to village cinemas. The serving sizes are generous and prices are very affordable. They also have gourmet pizzas which taste really good.

Historical ads and pages from the Woman's Weekly Magazine paper the walls (think 1950s and earlier) and you must make a quick trip to the restroom to check out the decor! I've been here a few times and whilst the food is consistently good, the service can be a bit hit and miss. I do think that the problem may have been rectified as my last visit was spot on. The interior has a somewhat "hospital cafeteria" vibe that could be easily fixed by updating the tables and chairs. My main complaint would be the volume of the music (yes I know, I'm an old man).
