I wanted to try their hair salon services for the first time. My appointment was booked with a stylist that is no longer there. It was canceled on Ulta's end. when I rebooked online I was left a voice message by Caroline that another stylist named Linda would take over. Great I think my appointment is all set, but due to lack of communication Vanessa puts it upon herself to cancel my appointment again. I give up. The disorganization is a sign to bring my business elsewhere. The reply from the business is focused on just a cancellation, they did not take accountability or grasp the principle. read more

I had some time to kill before an appointment and figured I would wander around ULTA and treat myself. First off, the people working there are clearly there to converse with each other and let the customers fend for themselves. Two workers were next to me chatting about another girl while dropping the f-bomb every other word. But there's more. Most of the shades of ANYTHING I wanted was out of stock. Not just a few brands, a good percentage of popular brands were missing product. Not good. Fragrances were behind locked cases. And the security guard at the door made me feel like I was in a Walgreens in Manhattan. read more

I ordered a pickup order online (im from out of state). When I went to the store it was a gross mess! The line was also ridiculous and I waited forever. Part of the order I didn't want, but they weren't able to cancel it. They said I had to pickup the whole order and wait 24 hours to return the part I didn't want or I could not pick it up at all and after 5 days they would return the merchandise to the shelves and I wouldn't be charged. I decided to do that as I was unable to return what I didn't want 24 hours later (ridiculous policy). So, I look at my account a couple days later and someone picked up my order, THAT WASNT ME! A $62 order to be exact. I called the store and asked how someone picked it up that wasn't me. I asked if they had ID'd them or checked order number and they admitted to not checking an ID. So they just gave it away! (I'm guessing an employee who saw the order wasn't picked up after 5 days claimed it, because how else would a random person off the street even know that order existed!) The store was totally unhelpful and obviously they are not trustworthy when it comes to online orders and pickups! I had to file a claim with my credit card. I wouldn't go in there ever again because of how gross the whole place was anyway, but someone stealing an order and them admitting they didn't ID put it all over the top! STAY AWAY read more

I went into the store Christmas shopping and was asked about interest in the ULTA CC. I responded that I was not interested and did not want to then hit on my Credit Card. I was advised very adamantly that I it was a SOFT hit and that it would not affect my score which didn't sound right to me but I signed up. Next day of course I get notification from everywhere of the new account inquiry and the hi on my credit. This is very dissapointing and really need to be addressed. I am not sure the incentives but the staff should be netter educated on this and the effects of this. read more

There is a sale going on for the big bottles of shampoo. When I walked in, I looked on the display rack and there was only conditioner in the brand I was looking for. I saw someone nearby, and asked if they had more of this brand somewhere else. She answered rudely and said she didn't know and if not then I should try something else. I asked if they had more in the back and she said "probably not." Well, she was no help... so I walked myself to the hair care section and found it on the shelf on my own. I have worked at Ulta before. I know things can get frustrating, especially during a promotion or sale. HOWEVER, this girl did not even put an effort into helping me-- which was frustrating. read more

Got my hair done here and I showed the stylist the exact color that I wanted (Icy blonde) and she somehow made it darker than my color was previously. I usually never get upset about my hair but this put me over the edge. Never getting my hair done at an Ulta again read more

Booked appointment for yesterday afternoon , specified hair was extremely curly and thick as well as reddish brown and was looking to dye a rose color . when I recieved a call regarding my appointment , I booked for three people I was told to go walk around the store for an hour while sarah completed my sisters blow dry roughly an hour then when I arrived she had me sit in the chair and takes a look at my hair and goes hold on walks up to the stylist and say it may take me alittle longer then my scheduled time to complete the look can I stay she said yes if you can then comes back up to me and goes yeah I can't stay to do your hair it's to thick and I don't have time I'll schedule you for a new day , understandable if I came in mid afternoon or last minute but not to make me walk in she talked to me at the desk make me walk around An hour after driving at least 1/2 hour to cancel a appointment . Absolutely disappointed and felt completely uncomfortable if she did not want to take the appoint Probley should have told me a hour before or maybe when I specified my hair was curly and thick . Btw new update : manager called and offered 20% off a keratin treatment which would relax curly hair sounds like curls aren't welcome here will never return again . read more

Most of store managers/associates are generally very nice people. They're very helpful. However, one of the managers, Andrea, talks so rude and impolitely. You can see a "I don't want to be here" vibe from her. Which is fine I guess? But, treating other people horribly is where I cross the line. I was going to make a return, I didn't understand the policy. Her tone, demeanor, and lack of candor seemed too aggressive. She gets very mad when you don't understand something. Not a good personality to have for a store manager especially in the beauty field. I can't imagine how she treats employees. read more

I am soooo thankful that the Trumbull mall now has a good place to buy beauty products that isn't unreasonably expensive like Sephora! They have such a great range of products that are professional but don't kill the finances. Plus now that's where I go to get my hair cut regularly! My girl Stephanie is so knowledgeable and made me feel so comfortable about trying a new look. I've gotten so many compliments and now put the full trust of my hair in her hands only. I HIGHLY recommend seeing her! She was so patient with all of my questions and wasn't pushy about what she thought might look good. If you live near Trumbull she's worth the trip! read more

I made an appointment online to get my makeup done for Halloween and chose the option Makeup Application for $45. They have several options which are the one I just mentioned, Formal Makeup Application for $60, and Everyday Makeup Application for $45. I have to say, this was kind of confusing because what is the difference between all of these? So I chose just regular makeup application and she tells me that because I was getting a smokey eye done for Halloween it would actually be considered a formal makeup application. So now instead of me assuming I was going to pay $45, now I would have to pay $60 (total rip-off just cause of a smokey eye if you ask me). And what exactly does everyday makeup mean? None of this is specified on the website and the options are just weird so I do feel it is a way to rip people off. Another complaint I had, was I had a coupon I could use towards a skincare service. Again, when you go to book a makeup appointment online it IS under skincare so I thought I was able to use it. She tells me after my makeup is done that I can't use it towards a formal makeup application and it was more for facials, etc. So if you aren't going to accept a coupon that states it can be used for skincare, maybe take away makeup applications from the skincare section online? The only positive was that my makeup artist did a good job and I was satisfied, however, too expensive. Sephora is better. $50 bucks in products (which is something Ulta does not do) for 1 hour and thats it, done. Ulta is overrated. read more

Well, I tried asking about a coupon, I placed an in store pick up order for the 10% off coupon but when I got to the store I realized I had 20% off so I asked if it would be possible for me to use it. I couldn't so that was fine... but the girl at the register was just really rude to me and my friend. She sighed loudly and was just overall rude with an attitude. I'm assuming maybe something had happened prior or in the day but throughout the process of me explaining and asking if it was possible she sighed, gave me a friend a dirty look, then just said "what" throughout most of what I was asking her when rolling her eyes. She called a manager to ask and another cashier stepped in to mention that it would take 24 hours for the online order to process and that was fine. Then I also had a return a powder I bought. She once again sighed loudly, I asked if it was possible to look up the receipt she rolled her eyes and said no. So I asked about being able to find the receipt in the app, she sighed and said no while rolling her eyes. But that was the only answer I got so I tried looking in my email and I had some trouble then she snatched it and scanned it, then was able to do the return. She was being passive aggressive at this point so I just said and this is my bad but I said oh so you were able to look it up. Then the transaction finished and I asked my friend maybe I was rude and she was like no the girl at the register came into the convo with a bad attitude. read more

Workers prefer to be talking to each other than offer help to customers around. I asked for help and the lady didn't even come to me and said what do you need in a very mean way. I went to sephora instead better, theyalways have a professional customer service. read more

Customer service here sucks! Asked employee where an item was and she treated me like I was dumb because I didn't see it in the front. Cashier also seemed like she was having a bad day, didn't greet me or anything lol. Definitely going into Sephora instead next time! read more

I don't like coming to this Ulta Beauty because customer service is not good I came in to buy little goodies for my friend and when I went to check out the cashier her name is Yamilex was extremely rude she didn't just give me attitude but when I asked her for a second bag she's like we don't have any more clearly you did have more small bags and she then went to relook and she said here you go . With the biggest attitude ever . You know if you are going to work customer service please be more polite to people and not so rude . read more

DO NOT go to the hair salon at ulta. Completely unprofessional and unreliable. Gave me a quote of $100 for my hair, I ended up walking out after 3 hours and $243 later with orange looking hair. I was so excited to finally have an Ulta in the place that I work. I thought it was going to be so convenient! There were many people working in the store that day, yet none of them could check me out! After waiting in line for 15 minutes, I decided to leave. The staff thought tasking (a retail term that means restocking, etc) was more important than helping the customer. Other customers came in and they helped them with their questions as quickly as they could so they could continue tasking. As a manager myself, I would NEVER put a task in front of a customer. Without a customer in your external environment, you will automatically lose money. I will never shop at this store again. They threw away $20 from me that day and continue to lose money from me considering I will never go back there. I would rather go to Sephora because they always have a professional environment.
