an awful experience at the Ulta store in Citrus Park Mall. I went to pick up an online order that was supposed to be ready, but I ended up waiting over 40 minutes while the staff struggled to locate it. The manager was condescending, repeatedly calling me "sweetie," even though she had my ID and name in front of her. Instead of taking accountability, she blamed me for not picking up my order sooner, despite my email clearly showing I still had another day. To make matters worse, the "solution" offered was for me to pay for the items again, which was completely unreasonable. Frustrated, I left the store. But shortly after leaving, I received an email stating that my order had been picked up, along with a copy of my receipt--despite the fact that no one had given me my items! I had to turn around and go back to the store. Only then did the general manager step in and locate my order, which had apparently been there the entire time. This entire process was beyond frustrating and completely unprofessional. Ulta, you need to seriously improve your customer service and order handling processes. read more

ULTA ruined my Hair! I am extremely disappointed with the treatment I received at Ulta, due to extreme damage to my hair caused by the stylists' negligence. I went to Ulta at the Citrus Park location in Tampa for hair services and what I received, three stylists later, was extremely damaged hair and a chopped-up haircut as shown in the pictures. This post is a little long, but I wanted to explain exactly what occurred. The first stylist I saw was Gina. I was looking for a simple haircut and some highlights. What I ended up with was a permanent black coloring to the roots (when my hair is a medium brown) which looked horrible as I had asked her for honey-colored highlights. With my haircut, she chopped it in chunks (way beyond the length I wanted) in an attempt to remove the highlighted portions that she had already damaged. After complaining to the manager she asked Gina to redo my hair and again Gina was unable to fix it. They then passed me to a second stylist named Ashley who suggested Balayage, and in addition was going to use a technique of something she saw on TikTok which is braiding the hair and coloring using Balayage. Again she used black permanent coloring in my roots just as Gina had done prior. The result was worse than before. My hair looked like a multi-colored zebra. Then after spending more money, I asked the manager, Melvin, to help me fix this issue once and for all and he brought me to, yet another lady named Monica, who is an older stylist, more experienced, and would repair all the damage previously done. The results were now atrocious. Adding to the damage, she repeated the same processes and began cutting my hair without my permission (she said she was going to fix the awful haircut that Gina did) but in reality was trying to cleanup all the highlighed damage that she just put in which didn't take. To the point that my hair endup shorter than before and breaking and gooey when wet. The following day I came to the store with my husband and spoke again with Melvin, and discussed the entire situation. I told him that I was being extremely nice complying with the different stylists working on my hair, with the hope that the next one would help to fix the damage. Mind you, I was paying for this fix every time I came to the store. I then requested the name, address and phone number of the District Manager to see if she could help me. Melvin suggested, with my permission, that he woud contact her, explain what was going on and to expect a phone call from her; even providing the area code that the call would come from. Well, I never heard from this lady, or for that matter, anyone else from Ulta. I think it's sad that a chain salon like Ulta would treat their customers like this. This is my local Ulta, and while I don't pop in here all the time, it's my go-to for my shampoo and conditioner (especially when they send me a coupon in the mail). The store is pretty cramped but easy enough to navigate. The salon is toward the back left and is always booming with customers. Everyone in there seems to be having a good time. The floor associates are always courteous and quick to ask if I need any help. And I mean really quick. I know exactly where my shampoo is, make a beeline for it, then pull a sick 180 toward the cash register. And they still manage to get a word in. The registers are my only problem with the store. Think of a HomeGoods or Marshall's line of registers without the defined queue. This results in customers who, shall we say, think less intuitively about queue flow, and force the line down actual store aisles instead of snaking it around where it should go. This could be easily solved by adding a roped-off section specifically for the queue. The store is so packed full of end caps and shelves anyway, that removing something toward the registers would solve two problems at once. While I don't go to this store more than about twice a year, it's not an experience I dread. They always have what I'm looking for, and they deliver coupons semi-frequently. Not a bad place to physically shop for beauty products in Citrus Park at all. As a side-note, one irking thing about Ulta in general is that they press you for your phone number more than any other business I've been to. They say it's for returns, but they can be very aggressive about it. I just give them my mom's phone number (which they already have), and she gets the points, just so I can avoid the minor confrontation. read more

I wish I was better with names so I could give a proper review. I just had the best experience at this location. I am always very hesitant to ask for help and bother anyone but they were so bubbly and welcoming when I walked in I asked if someone could help me find a foundation that would work for me. My textured skin has always made me frustrated and both consultants helping me were SO patient and never got upset when I told them I didn't like how it looked. I want to say it took 4 tries to get it right due to my more complicated skin but I was so grateful that they never complained and genuinely wanted to find the perfect set up for me! read more

If I could leave zero stars I would. They have these people labeled as barbers in their descriptions, THEY ARE NOT BARBERS!!! They have their cosmetology licenses displayed like they know what they are doing but do not be fooled they are incompetent lazy and are just trying to get you out as soon as possible. I cut by haircut by Adrian and asked for a low fade on the side and for him to cleanup my baby hairs in the back for a cleaner look. He shaved a good 2 inches of my real hair off the back completely disregarding what I said and never showed it to me and just left before I could say anything. I was forced to pay although he left me with a patchy mess. For the side he just shaved it all the same length and was just complaining about how he wanted to leave. Terrible customer service. Every person we encountered was rude and unhelpful. The cashier ignored me when I asked a question about an item and acted disgusted when I wanted to use a coupon. I also tried to buy a few single eyeshadow pots that were clearly marked "CLEARANCE $3.20" but rang up $6.00. I asked why it rang up differently and the manager that was just standing there snapped that it was only certain colors, then the cashier finally spoke and asked if we wanted them or not. Wow. On the way out we walked by the display and the colors I had picked were definitely marked $3.20. I understand that these are stressful times but wow. Everyone there needs to be retrained, including the manager. Or is it a requirement to be nasty to work at Ulta? read more

I came to this location because they have MAC products. The employees were nasty and none were helpful. Check out was a terrible experience. The girl wouldn't even speak to us. Several items did not ring up correctly and when we asked about it the response we got was "do you want them or not". We also wanted to use a $3.50 off coupon and she acted disgusted about that. Definitely would not recommend this location. Employees should be retrained and provide at least some level of customer service, or is it a requirement to be nasty to work at Ulta?? read more

I hate to drive out to this one since there's one closer to home, however this is the closest one that carries Mac cosmetics. I love me some Ulta although they can be quite pricey on certain items. I like their Ulta brand cream eye shadows, good quality and easy to use. The staff has always been friendly no matter location. I do have to say that the order pickup process at this location is better than the Dale Mabry location -- staff seemed to be more organized with the process and was able to get me in and out fast. read more

I have never tried any of their salon services, so this review is just for the store and merchandise. As far as Ultas go, this one is just fine. They have a good selection of brands - both high end brands and drugstore brands, although certainly not as many selections as a department store would carry. I feel like one of this store's biggest problems is that whenever I'm looking for a specific color, they always seem to be out of it. It makes me think the person responsible for ordering does not check the stock on a frequent enough basis. I will say that during my most recent visit, when they were out of a color I wanted, a store representative made the excellent suggestion to get the particular shade I wanted in an eye shadow version, as it could be used as an eye liner (which they were out of), and she was 100% correct. I never would have known had she not stepped up, so I really appreciate it. Check out was very speedy my most recent visit, and of course, I love getting a free sample with checkout! read more

I had ordered a product online after reading really good reviews and had to drive all the way out to this location to pick it up since this was the closest in stock. When I got here and picked up the product, I just quickly asked the cashier if she knew anything about the product and had any tips. Apparently this is a new product that she wasn't familiar with so she had to call someone else over to help. Melvin was absolutely incredible. He explained in layman terms what this product would do to my hair and how that sounded different than what my goal was. I am not a beauty person at all so at home hair dye and color lifting is brand new to me. He listened without judgment and was able to provide some really solid advice without being pushy like a salesman. Although I was initially disappointed to have driven all this way just for a product that probably won't work, I am leaving very glad that I came here because of Melvin's knowledge, professionalism and helpfulness. read more

DO NOT GET YOUR HAIRCUT WITH LISA after calling asking if they had availability for a wash,haircut, and blow dry, Lisa said to come in at 10:30 because she had another client at 11:00. I should've just rescheduled because she butchered my hair trying to rush. I've never left a review for any place before in my life!! but I needed to warn others of this mistake I made... Do not make a hair appointment here especially if they are in a rush. She could've just told me no. Instead, I received a very sloppy hair wash with water splashing in my eyes and ruining my makeup I had on for the day to the multiple times she hit my head with the blow dryer and burned me. I yanked away to indicate she's burning me but she still insisted. The only reason I spoke up was when I realized she charged me 65$ because supposedly she was an "Elite" hairdresser LOL! I will post some pictures and let me know if you think that's elite work. The facial frame is totally uneven. The layers are choppy. I usually love Makeup stores. Ulta is usually one of my favorites because they carry both high end and drug store brands. What I had no clue about, until today was just how much they mark up the drug store brands. I know this, because the brands I just bought at Target & Wal-Mart, were purchase-able here but they were a good 2 dollars more. RIDICULOUS. They do carry many of the brands that Sephora carries, and that's cool, but yeah.. they need to clean up their act. Their displays -the ones for their own brand and that of the high end polishes were really nasty looking, their testers all broken and smeared, the nail polishes all spread out over the plastic. This is not the visual I want when shopping at a store. Needless to say, I bought nothing. read more

The staff is very friendly, as they been on my multiple visits, and the store is very tidy. Ulta at Citrus Park is my only destination for hairstyles, relaxers and color treatments. My stylist, Kanisha, is brilliant with all hair types and textures. She's done my ombré, relaxers, cuts and styles for years; I've no need to complain about her work. I rave and recommend her at every opportunity that I get. The carry a variety of brands such as NYX, Benefit, Urban Decay and NAKED. I love earning points from my hair appointments to get high end flat irons and styling wands. The salon and store prices are slightly above average, in my opinion, but you have to pay for quality. I found out they do facials yesterday when I was getting my hair done. I had some time so I stopped in the Citrus park location. Chana was able to take me as a walk in right away. They have a room off to the side of the salon. I have only had spa facials at resorts or day spas. I would say this was very much a similar experience just more convenient. I really don't feel like I know what is up with my skin, just I'm not happy. Chana asked me questions and had me fill out a card with info about my lifestyle... Suntanning, medications, etc. The typical things they ask you at spas before treatments. After that she got right to it. After cleaning and looking at my skin she suggested I try dermabrasion and since it was my first time I should start with the introductory service. I've always wanted to get dermabrasion but I have been thrown off by this price. This seemed reasonable so I was excited to try it out. I barely felt a thing as she was doing it. I would compare it to rubbing an eraser across my face. On top of that there was the entire facial with a mask and aromatherapy I thought my skin was worse than it was but Chana let me know it was more that I was dehydrated. I guess the one downside is that my skin felt so good I wanted to buy the whole dermalogica line. I will definitely be back! read more

With all the privacy issues today, I'm declining to give out personal information. So, I was not happy when I tried to return 2 unopened items and Ulta refused to process the return if I didn't have an account with them. As mentioned, the items were unopened and I also had my receipt. Apparently, their system wouldn't be able to pull up the transaction, unless I had an account and gave them my phone number and/ or email...all for marketing purposes. I'm not sure that requiring an account for returns is legal, but I'll find out. Also, one of the sales girls let slip that they would have to type the transaction into the system, altho I'm not sure that would have resolved things. The items came to around $73, so I wanted my money back. Finally, I told them I have an account and gave them my phone number in order to process the return, but I resent having to give up private info...I hadn't provided it when I purchased the items. Their system's problem is theirs, not mine, and no one should be forced to provide private information for this type of transaction. Ulta won't get any further business from me!! read more

This review is for the citrus park ulta. While I was basically satisfied with my stylist who I've been going to for a year, the last couple of months I've noticed hair loss and hair breakage and brought this to her attention. No explanation was offered except was asked if I was stressed out, which I wasn't. This review is to warn others to be proactive about your hair care and do your own research as I've found out keratin treatments should only be done a couple of times a year and definitely not in 2 consecutive months. Also, take note what you are being charged for correctly. I've foolishly been thinking I've been charged for root touch up but in fact was being charged for all over hair color for nearly a year, each time I went for my appt! I have no idea why the stylist would charge for all over hair color every month when all I needed was root touch up! At one time too, I had all over hair color, hair gloss and keratin treatment at one session. Maybe that's why my hair was falling out? Needless to say, I will not return and very sad to note that such a cavalier and deceptive attitude exists in a stylist I thought I trusted. read more

After the renovations this Ulta store isn't too bad. The checkout counter isn't in the middle of the store anymore, so the line is a bit more orderly like at other Ulta locations. It's only a 3 min drive for me, so when I need makeup, perfume or hair care items, this is my go-to place. I can't say I've had the best service here or the worst. It's standard for what it is. Sephora or the Mac counter at dept stores give a much better makeup advice, but Ulta has a bigger variety of everything beauty, so I can do a lot of shopping here at once. The Ulta private label brand isn't bad either...I at least like their lip glosses. I must say I will never get my eyebrows threaded there again. The dude did a horrible job that I had to live with for 2 1/2 weeks. It gets really busy in this store around the holidays, so there are a lot of items that I can find at the newer Clearwater location that I can't find here. I do wish there were a Benefit counter here...I loved the way they fixed my eyebrows in New York. I can't review any other salon services, but I will say that I'm afraid to use them...seems too commercial with turnover. read more

Extremely disappointed with the level of service my husband received at this location. I placed an order for pick up and added my husband the secondary person to pick up my items. We received an email at 10:30 AM stating my order was ready. Around 2 PM my husband stopped by to pick it up. Upon his arrival he received no greeting and when he asked the guy at the register in the front for assistance he was told rudely, "You'll have to wait." This review is long over due! I went here one night late after work, feeling down about how my makeup had been appearing due to all the breakout I was having thanks to my diet allergies. I felt extremely self cautious at first when I arrived because literally everyone in the store has flawless skin. I started walking around the aisles of the up line makeup brands (I normally stick with drug store brands, but I needed a change!) Right away, a young girl with a beautiful smile came over and asked if I needed help. I felt at ease right away. I explained to her my situation about not getting coverage when I have an allergy outbreak and right away she belted off brands that would have full coverage yet it wouldn't make me look like I caked on a bunch of makeup to cover up. She had me sit in a chair while she searched for the right color. It took about 3-4 times to find the right shade, but my skin never has looked happier with makeup! For foundation, we went with Urban Decay All Nighter. It's waterproof but easy to wipe off with either makeup remover or a wipe. The setting powder is loose and it's by Tarte. My concealer is amazing and hides everything from a blemish to bags under the eye. This product is by Tarte as well and it's the shape tape. I wish I knew this girls name because she is good at what she does! This has been my best experience with this makeup store. Ecstatic with my purchases! read more

Can I just say I love Kanesha! She is the best when it comes to giving me a protein treatment in order to make my hair super healthy. She also listens and educates you on your specific hair type. I was definitely someone that said they would never go natural but I now love it! I'm interested in adding some color soon and she's the only one I would trust to do my hair. The women are friendly but kanesha makes me feel right at home. I have gotten my relaxed ends cut by her and my hair is now healthier than ever! THIS PLACE IS COOL! Ok, First of all, NEVER walk in there with two teenage girls! This is a like a MEGA mart for make-up, perfume, hair stuff and anything else a girl could ever want to look good! It is a bit expensive but they have everything from Elizabeth Arden to Cover-girl Paul Mitchel to Aussie! I have gotten my hair colored and cut there also, Nichole in the salon is very good, she listened to what I wanted and did it. Be sure to sign up for their reward points! You get lots of freebies! (Free Haircut) They will also mail you a monthly catalog with coupons! I really like this place. Of course the girls were in heaven! I bought my wife a hair dryer from Ulta. A once in a lifetime gift, $150 Chi hair dryer. It stopped working a little over a year later. Since this was not the run of the mill $20 throw away hair dryer, she brought it back up to Ulta. As someone that spends WAY too much money at Ulta, she assumed they would take care of her. She couldn't have been more wrong. They told her without a receipt there was nothing they could do for her, and they couldn't look up the receipt for her as I bought it for her as a gift. They told her to call their 1-800 number (really?) She did. They offered her no help. Then... she found the receipt. Excellent. They told her with the receipt they could help her, right? Any guesses as to what happened next? She brought it back up there, now receipt in hand. The "manager" tried to tell her that even with a receipt, they couldn't help her. She didn't have the box (they still sell the same item on the shelf). That she should have registered it on line. The manager made a list of all the things the CONSUMER SHOULD HAVE DONE differently. The manager tried to send her away empty handed with a broken $150 hair dryer. That was the manager's 10th mistake in her ham handed handling of this previous customer. The degree of hassle we experienced over this is unimaginable, unacceptable, and unrecoverable for Ulta. They not only lost a great customer, but as many people as hear about this story from us on Social Media. Was it really worth it, Ulta? Was it worth insinuating we had done something wrong, simply for buying a hair dryer from you? Your merchandise gets an F (although some times things happen). Your record keeping gets an F. Your management team quite simply should be fired and replaced that understand that some modicum of respect and customer support are an expectation when you sell the world's most expensive, defective hair dryers. It's one thing to be unhelpful and stand behind the policy sign. It's another to be belligerent, rude, and accusatory. NO customer deserves that, regardless of circumstance. You lose, Ulta. We can go anywhere. At the end of the day, these are the managers you are stuck with unless you fire them and start over. I expect in the years to come to read of the demise of your once great franchise if this type of experience is acceptable to Ulta. I can tell you that I won't be back. You have demonstrated that you are absolutely not worthy of our hard earned cash. Too bad, too. She likes your cosmetics. read more
