If I could give zero stars I would. This Ulta specifically had the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I'm unsure if it's discrimination or lack of discipline that the employees had. Regardless they need to be taught how to be kinder and not laugh behind my girlfriend's back when she thought an item was on sale when it wasn't. The sign was misleading and the workers didn't compensate for the misunderstanding. Which would've been okay because that's our fault for misreading the sign. This is also their fault because when the misunderstanding happened it wasn't fixed or apologized for. We walked around the store for almost 10-15 mins looking for help and there was no one to be found. There was this one nice lady in a long pink coat who went above and beyond with helping the 10 customers in the store. Yet there was this guy in a black hoodie who lied and instantly told us they didn't have a whole section of a brand when they did. He instantly responded with "Ulta doesn't carry that brand but you can go to Sephora because they do" yet we found the Kylie skin care after walking around for a while, looking for and finding alternative (the item that wasn't on sale). When we were checking out all of a sudden 3 coworkers came out of nowhere to walk my girlfriend to the item she thought was on sale. Two held back to check on their scanner and whispered like mean girls then laughed together saying "No of course that's not on sale, why would it be on sale?" like it's common sense. The sale tag was hanging above the item we were buying and it didn't specify which specific item it was, so we thought it's hanging above the items so it can pop out more. Since the item was on the bottom shelf of the Fenty display fixture. It's easier to spread kindness rather than hate. I leave this review for the benefit of the community and not to complain for nothing. This is a systemic and fundamental issue that Ulta needs to fix. Treat people with better care. read more

I have bangs- meaning I need maintenance every few weeks. I stopped in one day in January and JG had an opening she did a great job and for $10 it's a steal for a bang trim in Redmond! Everything is under lock and key. If you want to test any fragrance, they make you walk back to the front of the store and ask for someone with a key to give you access. Once they unlock the specific section that has what you need, they will test-spray for you and immediately lock back up. They will not let you touch any of the fragrances. If you want to linger to allow the fragrances to develop over several minutes and actually experience the entirety of a specific scent, good luck to you -- that is not possible at this store. Customers are treated as potential and likely thieves. It's an absolutely deplorable experience. Please save your money and shop elsewhere. The store in Woodinville has everything out, and you can sample anything you'd like, taking your time with each fragrance as needed/appropriate. And to the store manager, if you happen to read this review: get you s**t together and implement proper procedures to discourage/avoid theft without treating all of us (the majority of your potential clientele) as criminals. I've been trying to reach ultras Corp office for days. They've been sending me some stupid text messages. I was in their store about a week ago there was two known shoplifters in the store. How do I know they were known because workers in the store said so. They were allowed to help themselves to whatever they wanted to steal. I was at the register talking to the customer service people (now my issue isn't with there CS) on her way out the shoplifter walked up behind me I saw her out the corner of my eye At that point she started an argument with me and I snapped back. Why do people have to shop under those conditions. If you now they steal refuse them entrance into the store. I've been to other stores that have security Why isn't that the case in this store especially since your employees can't do anything. These are some of the questions I have for their Corp headquarters. This area is TOO comfortable to their surroundings and in a store where we spend our money. Nobody should feel uncomfortable. So I needed a haircut real bad and a friend suggested Ulta. I called them a day before to fix an appointment and they told me about an offer going on this week $20 for hair wash cut n style!! Unbelievable right ? I was little skeptical first and wen I reached at 11am next day it was crowded. Anyway my turn came in 30 minutes. I have liked this store as being okay in general as it is a convenient location. However, today i was there and needed to get a bunch of items that added up to $200! The store clerk said if i sign up for a free Ulta credit card that i would save $40 on this order (20%). i was hesitant as do not need card but was a good deal. I go through process only to find out it was a "bait and switch" with them then explaining that it is after you get card in mail you get 20% off first time you use it. This seemed very deceptive....and as i walked out, heard the coworker praising her for getting a credit card sign- up!! read more

This is one of the best Ultas that I have been to. Honestly, it is easily better than most Sephoras, too. The staff is not in your face, but they are available if you need them. There is a fantastic selection, ranging from high end cosmetics to drug store brands. Ulta's own brand of cosmetics is affordable and not low quality. They also have a lot of great sales, and if you sign up for the rewards program. And the salon is not bad either, although somewhat pricier than one would expect for a salon in the back of a store in a strip mall. I do remove a star for one less than choice employee. She gave the soccer mommy in front of me a discount without the mailing coupon, but when I explained that I didn't get the mailing coupon because I had been out of town and the post office messed up my mail hold, she refused to give it to me. I wouldn't normally mind the refusal if she hadn't given it to someone else right in front of my face. 'Kid in a candy store' meet 'Female in an ULTA!!' Nail polish, shampoos, perfume/cologne, hair tools & accessories, oh, my! I was thrilled when I found that an ULTA opened recently because it's one of the only stores that carries one of my absolute favorite hair products. When I found out this was nearby, it was on my list of to-dos for the weekend. I missed the grand opening, but I'd rather drive a little bit than pay an exorbitant amount in shipping so it was still worth the short trip. Lots of "fun" girly stuff to look at... the store itself is pretty well organized too. Beware the impulse buys near checkout -- that's where all those pretty, shiny, colorful nail polish containers have been set up. I am rather proud of myself for resisting them on my first trip there! Wow, just came back from this newly-open store. It is pretty darn amazing. It has everything - and I mean EVERYTHING - one could want in a beauty store. I like how the selection is so varied, with everyday brands like Cover Girl and Revlon to the higher-end department store brands. (I'm a big Sephora fan, but I must admit, I like how Ulta has lower-end brand names to choose from, too. Not just Chanel and Armani). I like how they have a wall of hairblowers to choose from, and you can actually turn them on to try them. I also liked how they have a huge assortment of hair accessories and hair colour, too. Maybe it's simply because it's this store's opening weekend, but they have some pretty amazing deals in the store: buy 2 Ulta cosmetices, get 2 free PLUS a make-up bag of your choice chock full of goodies. Plus various deals with various brands (Philosophy bonus, Polo bonus, Benefit bonus, etc.). Their beauty rewards program seems pretty good, too: I signed up (it cost nothing) and they gave me a bag with four good-sized products in it. I'm still getting used to the lay-out of the store, but it seems well-laid out. Like Sephora, there are plenty of make-up try-on stations with the supplies to do so. The lighting seems good. I REALLY like how there's a hair salon in the store! I'm definately going to try it out. The negatives? I'm hesitant to be too critical here, as this store JUST opened and they're so so new. But tonight I really wanted to get a foundation and there was no one around the Ulta brand area to get assistance on their make-up line. (I don't really mess around with foundation. You ladies know what I'm talking about! It needs to be tried on, looked at in different lights, there are so many choices). I wanted to discuss brands and types but, despite the fact that there were a lot of staff people running around, no one was around to help me. Then in the hair area I asked a guy if they had Kerastase conditioner. He had no idea what I was talking about but said he'd find out. A great location for makeup lovers who don't have time to stop at Bellevue Square or RTC and look for parking. The Ulta provides great convenience and is a one stop shop for me whether I am looking for makeup, toiletries, hair products or something fun for gifts. The ladies at the counter are always friendly, don't mind providing the weekly discounts off your order, and have great suggestions for new products. I like the fact that you can try on their makeup and no one is harassing you to purchase, its very casual which makes me feel more comfortable to buy. I haven't been to the salon yet but they seem to be busy most of the time I come by. They don't have all the high end products like Bluemercury or department store products like Sephora, but they do carry a great selection of prestigious brands, perfume and items that you could find at Target or Walgreens. Ordered an item for pickup. Arrived at 8pm and their doors were locked even though it says on the door and online they are open until 9pm.

I've walked by this Ulta a hundred times and for some reason, never gone in. Crazy! It's a great store and so much easier to get in an out of than Bellevue Nordstrom, where I usually shop for cosmetics. First, the staff are friendly and helpful. I was greeted quickly, and when I explained what I was looking for (foundation from It), walked over to the right location where a knowledgeable woman assisted me with both color matching and application tips. It was worth it as I've never been able to quite apply foundation well and the way she showed me, it looked light an natural. Score! I moved over to hair care where the selection is just phenomenal - if you can't find it here, it doesn't exist. I also found just the right brush for styling from Chi - there were loads of options across a range of prices. Checking out was a breeze, and though they were busy, they helped me sort out a problem with my frequent buyer account. I love this store and will be back, probably quite often! read more

Good range of products but poor customer service. I was searching for a Clinique foundation and mascara and was given vague and half-hearted advice. For example, they were out of the mascara I wanted, I asked the consultant about it, who said pointed to another one that she described as "good" and then briskly walked away before allowing me to ask other questions about the product. For the rest of the time, I stood looking at products unable to get any advice on the right colors or products for me. Went to Ulta looking for a birthday gift for my niece who is African American. Brigette helped me find some fantastic make up and hair products that were perfect. My niece loved everything. I appreciate the wonderful service and the fact that the store carried so many products for diverse people. I really appreciated Brigette's assistance. She thought of several things that hadn't occurred to me. For instance, my niece didn't wear make up so she didn't have any brushes. Brigette helped me find a nice set that was a reasonable price. Alert: arriving at Ulta not able to get inside. Managment needs training. They are to open at 11:00 but they won't unlock the doors it's 11:08. There is a cluster of customers outside since 10:30. The employees inside can see us. I had scheduled a cut and color service through the Ulta Salon. I arrive iand my hair stylist Hero (spell?) was there to greet me. At first I was confident that I would be leaving happy- although at first he seemed weary about which hair color I should go for (I requested a dark chocolate brown, which I find pretty basic) he applied quickly and was very friendly. After waiting for the dye to develop he brought me to shampoo/condition, which at the time I assumed had been done. When he brought me back to my chair, less than 40 minutes into my appointment, another Salon employee reminded him several times that he had his next appointment waiting. I found that odd, because for a cut/color 40 minutes definitely isn't long enough. After halfway blowdrying my hair... and when I mean halfway, I mean halfway... he began a cut which lasted for less than 5 minutes. He seemed pretty confused about the hair cut, but I tried not to worry. Then all of a sudden, he told me he was done. I looked into the mirror and was truly horrified. Half of my hair was literally gone. When he asked how I liked it I could barely respond, but he was quick to get me out of the chair to rush his next appointment in. So there I was, paying for a total crap hair cut and leaving with half wet/half dry, ugly hair. I paid, and mentioned to the manager that I was upset, they said they would call me tomorrow. When I arrived home and looked in the mirror I literally began to cry. I spent 6 years growing out my hair, and it is so disastrous to the point where I am going to need to cut my hair into a bob to salvage it. If this weren't enough, I go to brush through my hair and find literal clumps of dye in the bottom and throughout my hair. He clearly didn't wash out the dye. I made sure to call Ulta this morning to tell them of my concerns. I was nothing short of TOO friendly considering what I had been through. The person on duty assured me the Salon manager would be contacting me this afternoon. At 3 PM there was my phone call. It was the Salon Manager. She was friendly, because as she reminded me numerous times, that was her job. I have a feeling if it wasn't "her job" she would have hung up on me. Our conversation lasted at least 20 minutes. The first 10 minutes went well. I explained the situation and how upset, disappointed, and traumatized by this experience I was. She was apologetic, and offered to "fix" my hair. I declined her solution, with a solid explanation. I have lost faith in Ulta Salon and regardless of how irrational- do not want her touching my hair. This is why I am going to Seattle, to find someone I can trust. I explained to her it was not personal, but I should be reimbursed for my experience. She apologized again and again but ended with the fact that all she could offer was her services in fixing my hair. She clearly did not understand that this is not what I want. I wanted my money back, and was entitled to it. My opinion is that the Salon Manager should never have let me walk out of the store yesterday dissatisfied. Invest your $55 elsewhere. read more

I had never heard of Ulta until this giant store opened in Redmond and screamed ULTA GRAND OPENING GIRLIE STUFF KATIE YOU KNOW YOU WANNA CHECK IT OUT! Yep, I was there opening day, and it was a madhouse! But for good reason- this place simply rocks. They carry a huge variety of cosmetic products- from high end lines to the Covergirl and Revlon stuff you'd pick up at a pharmacy. Plus there is a rewards program, so stuff you'd be buying anyway racks up points- I haven't been a member long enough to reap the benefits, but if there's a chance to save even more money I'm in! There were some amazing sales going on- but it was of course the grand opening of this location. I left insanely happy with $150+ of product for just over $30- AWESOME SHOPPING DAY. I'll definitely be checking back to see just how good their normal sales are. The staff was super friendly and ready to answer any questions or help locate any products. There is also a full salon in the back of the store- I haven't checked that out yet, but it looks really nice :D read more

ULTA is one of my favorite stores. I've been known to spend way too much time, and money here. This location opened up when I was living down the street, and I was so excited! I think I may have peed my pants, I definitely screamed. What I love about ULTA is that they sell the higher end products as well as the drug-store brands. So I can get my Redken shampoo/Conditioner(seriously, the best prices, they always have good deals), along with my Bare Minerals make-up, and some cheaper lotions, eyeshadows, etc. They have lots of products available for all your beauty needs. I rarely leave here without spending at least $50, even if I just go in for one thing. Easy returns when you buy things online too(which I do, because there are often awesome deals). I recently took advantage of their Brow Bar to get my eyebrows waxed. For $20 they do a fine job. It's nice for the convenience factor. I've never used any of their other salon services. read more

Online appointment booking is a big mess! I was scheduled for a hair cut at 3.45 and received a confirmation message too. I get a call at 3.35 (I was 5 min away from the salon) saying that my appointment cannot be scheduled as they are "very busy "and the online system is messy and I have been scheduled with a person who is actually not working at the salon. Such a waste of time! Not really sure what the actual reason was and not sure on how Ulta operates with a messy online appointment system!!! This is my first time to an Ulta Salon and also the last, especially at this particular location. I was being very understanding and patient only to get humiliated and mistreated by the rude salon assistant manager Kat. I can't understand how someone who is unprofessional like her can be the assistant manager. It doesn't only make you look bad but your store as well. You should be fired or demoted in my opinion. My hairstylist Vi was nice but her customer service still needs a lot of improvements. Saturday 10/31 I was scheduled at 11am for an appointment to get a haircut and ombre/balayage but my hairstylist Vi contacted me at 9:30am to push my appointment later to a 2pm. I made that appointment a week in advance and scheduled my day around it. Contacting me 1.5 hours before my appointment to reschedule is unprofessional but she said she was feeling sick. I was understanding of her condition and ask if we could schedule for 1pm, which she agreed to. I came in at 12:45pm and saw her finishing up a service with another client. She told me she was feeling sick... During the same conversation when she rescheduled me, she asked me what I wanted to get done. I sent her some example pictures of what I want to get done, some were even off her instagram. I asked and confirmed if she can get it to look like what I wanted and she confidently said yes. She had set the expectations and I trusted her. 6 hours later, the color is completely different from what I wanted and from what she said it would be. Not only that but I had a few blotchy, uneven patches on top of my head. I mentioned many times that I don't want yellow hair and I don't want to go too light because I work in a big company and I need to keep it professional. I still paid for the service ($300) and tipped her well ($50). Monday 11/2 I contacted Vi in the morning and told her I need to go back to redo/retone my hair since it does not look like the pictures I had shown her. She was being helpful and cooperative by agreeing to schedule me for Friday evening. Tuesday 11/3 She contacted me in the evening to come in on Wednesday evening because she had scheduled a new client and may not have enough time for me on Friday. Wednesday 11/4 This morning she texted me that if I wanted another session, it would be an additional $200. I was very frustrated and confused as to why do I need to pay more to get my hair fixed and achieve something I wanted to get in the first place. She had already set the exceptions Saturday and said that it wouldn't be a problem! I tried to explain the situation to her but she kept using excuses saying my hair was this and that and the pictures I sent her looks lighter than my hair. I talked to the salon assistant manager Kat after 3 calls to the store, only to be told that I can only come in to get my hair toned down and if I want to achieve the look similar to the pictures then they would have to charge me more. I would not make this issue into a big deal if they were to offer me to come back to tone my hair and try their best to fix it. Instead, they're trying to charge me more and are claiming that my hair looks identical to the picture which Vi was referring to. When I asked Kat for the Corporate contact information, she rudely said they don't give it out at Ulta. I said I will look for it online and contact their Corporate office and write a complaint to the BBB (Better Business Bureau). Her response to this was "Go ahead, that's fine". I was shocked and left speechless. I have never seen such unprofessional behavior. She obviously does not care about her job. I stopped by another Ulta location and told them the story and showed them the pictures. The general manager and salon manager both agreed that my hair does not look anything like the photos and encouraged me to contact Corporate about my experience. At this point I want my money back so I can get my hair fixed elsewhere. The Redmond location does not deserve my business. read more

Since ULTA sends out coupons so often, I can often score my favorite drugstore products for less than I would pay at a "big box" store. When I visited the store a few days ago, Matthew (who is always quite helpful and courteous!) said, "Weren't you the one who was asking about the ULTA gel eye pencils last week? We got them in!"
