They had many hard spots I had to cut off. Not like my moms that's for sure. I was happy they delivered to me with my cooler outside. But they were supposed to tell me when they were on route or when it was there and did not. Another first try and never again.

So, I have high expectations when trying this style of cuisine. And yet, Kalinka won me over. The perogies were really delicious. I'm guessing that fresh (not delivered far across the city) they would be even MOAR amazing. I look forward to sampling them on site. The sausage had an unexpected kick and was full of yum. The prepared salads are flavoursome. I really enjoyed the sautéed vegetables and the leftovers tasted great in a soup I made the next day. I prefer pork cabbage rolls but these vegetarian ones were excellent with a nice spice to them. The accompanying tomato sauce to spread over them was very tasty.

The friends platter had a little bit of most things and was also just a beautiful work of art. Loved loved loved the lamb chop and wish there we'd gotten more of that. I usually don't go for chicken but these chicken kebabs were so moist and flavorful. I loved too how fine the donair was shaved. The Ali Nazik was probably my favorite thing because of that garlicky buttery yogurt sauce that I just wanted to bathe all my meats in. The table loved the Lahmahcun so much that we got a second round. Super thin and crispy, and so so good eaten together with the onion, tomatoes, and lemon. And all the pita was so so pillowy soft! Also appreciated so much all the fresh veggies that accompanied everything so that it felt healthier. Great balance. Love love love. Also, not usually a criteria of mine but I really appreciated the interior too and having the little grocery area in the back. Casual, but immersive.

The plate comes with a small salad, pita bread, fries, choice of protein, and side of tzatziki sauce. The beef was tender, but not all that flavorful. I actually finished everything else prior to the protein which is a first. Although the chicken that is so good and with the occasional crunchy bits! The french fries were perfectly crispy and the feta cheese balanced out the saltiness for me. We actually came back here before our flight back home and got the shawarmas! TSA almost got to my tzatziki sauce since it went through inspection but thankfully it didn't! Definitely coming back!

Save the best for last - Lamb Shank dinner - comes with rice, fresh salad with white beans, basmati rice, the gorgeously fall-off-the-bone Lamb Shank cooked in a very nice tomatoey sauce and a dollop of tzatziki sauce as well. For 4 people, the 4 entress cost only $46!! That's pretty darn good price! Decided to also try their Spinach and Feta Turnover Bread. Think it's called Poacha. So delicious! Bought extra to bring home for a light snack. Also, had their Baklava which had flaky, buttery phyllo pastry with pistachios drowned in honey syrup. The bakalva just melted in your mouth. Food kiosk is found right at the back of the food area. If you approach the washrooms, do a hard left and down the corridor at the end is Anatolia. Accepts cash and debit cards only. Will definitely be back to try more.

There were still a handful of items that I could safely have. I really wanted the schnitzel or Cordon Bleu, but both were fried. Total bummer. The staff and owner were excellent. They understood what I could and couldn't have. That being said, what my wife and I ordered was FANTASTIC. The gluten free bun was amazing. So much so, that I had the check if they made a mistake. I am insanely sensitive, and highly reactive (less than 10ppm gets me violently ill) and had no reaction. My wife loved her meal and could not believe it was GF. The menu had an eastern European feel to it, but I suspect there would be something for everyone. HONESTLY... one of the best home made fresh, natural (real) food restaurants i have ever been to. Tables are packed so close together you can practically share appetizers with strangers. If you're a fish lover, you'll probably be fine; but for those of us who don't eat fish (or just hate the smell), it's rough. The whole place reeks, and it's not pleasant. Food itself? Pretty good. Service? Brutally slow. We waited about 40 minutes for our dishes. When the pork souvlaki finally arrived, the server wasn't even sure if it was chicken or pork and just left it up to us to figure it out. Also, fair warning: they have a dish they flame up tableside with zero notice. Nearly singed my ears off. I get that when the restaurant is not packed is amazing. But tonight, they dropped the ball. Hard. That said, not coming back, ever, again.
