Prior to becoming a professional British genealogist I worked as a chief engineer and certified health and safety instructor. On taking early retirement I was given the opportunity to spend more time working with my family history and UK genealogy research projects. For the first couple of years, I carried out free genealogy research and built family trees charts for friends and colleagues before successfully going professional in 2007.

My name is Ian J Hextall and I became a full-time British genealogist 10 years ago, I am based in Denny, Stirlingshire, Scotland (Central Scotland).
I am ideally located to carry out extensive Scottish & British genealogical research, My base is just a 30 minutes car drive away from the cities of Glasgow & Edinburgh and their National archives, Libraries, and Registration offices.
Over the past 40 plus years, my passion for researching my own family history as allowed me to trace my Hextall family name and blood lines back over a staggering 850 years. With my oldest family tree member amazingly dating back to around 1150 in Ranton, Staffordshire, England.
I now successfully use my life gained experience in locating British genealogical source records and old family documents. This priceless knowledge allows me to carry out extensive family research projects. I currently supply quality family genealogy packages and family tree charts to clients based both here in the UK
