I chose the Chef's choice and was not disappointed with the generous portions and selections made. There were things I might not have tried otherwise and was glad to have been offered. It's a great way to sample the menu at a great price. The drink menu was also fairly extensive and they had some fun gin pairings. Go, eat heartily, and enjoy.

We had booked a table for 6pm however arrived slightly late due to the bad weather (I believe Hurricane Kate is the culprit!) However, we were sat quickly and when telling our server we had limited time due to our cultural theatre trip it was recommended that we keep away from the signature curries as they take time to cook through. We started with a bottle of prosecco (this is getting predictable now?) and opted to share the bombay bombs and hara chicken parchey to start. The bombay bombs were delicious filled with mashed potatoes and a homemade sauce they were incredibly flavoured! The chicken arrived looked a cool shade of green with a yogurt dip it was also delicious. Next I opted for the burgh tikka makhani masala which was a butter based rich tomato curry with plenty of succulent chicken. With a side of mushroom pilau (one portion is enough for two really!) and a side of tandoori roti I mopped up every last bit of the rich sauce! Competing the meal was the standard cosmo which I ALWAYS get when I go here as it has a nice twist on the original. I must say the lamb railway curry is still my favourite however I am yet to try their signature Korma so watch this space!

They have ONE person working the cash register and the tables upstairs and downstairs. That person is never hospitable or nice, but hey, I would be crabby and rude too, if i had to serve the whole cafe myself. They really should stop being cheap and hire a second person, or at least hire staff that can actually hack it. In general, I find vegans and vegan establishments really nice, down-to-earth, and always good to their patrons. Probably because us vegans/ vegetarians are a rare breed and we feel the need to look after one another. Scrumpy feels differently though, to be fair, they're not entirely vegan, but from what I have been told, they are the "vegan" place to eat in town. I would never come back here again. They give vegans/ vegetarians a bad name. Also, my hard earned cash should not be spent on establishments that don't appreciate my business and are super rude to me. I also know of other places in town that serves vegan friendly dishes, albeit they're not officially vegan.

The staff were friendly and very chilled and we all really enjoyed our food: my omlette was so tasty and filling, and my sister's hummus and fallafal plate went down a storm! I really liked this place as a whole but the reason I docked two stars was because of the really really bad quality of their drinks; I had the house wine which was nothing short of vinegar-esque, my sister had the "smoothie" which was nothing more than a half-filled glass of watery fruit juice with a thick layer of foam at the top, and our friend went for the milkshake which literally looked like a glass of milk that had been jiggled around for a bit (no trace of any ice cream in the mix) My advice with this place is go here when in search of good value, filling food, but don't waste your money on the beverages!..

The staff impressed me the most.....very attentive and genuinely polite and friendly. Immediately from first walking in I was confident this would be a good experience from the way I was greeted. The menu predominantly consists of pizzas and salads but they also have daily specials and lunch time snacks/sandwiches. I opted for the Pulled Pork which was lovely...just the right amount too. The pizzas (their speciality) looked amazing although I wasn't fortunate enough to have sampled any on this occasion. A few little quirks like old school milk bottles for water and the herb garden where you can see them grow. Never before have I seen such a huge collection of lamp shades hanging from the ceiling...completely random but it works!

We arrived and we were told that for a table for two we had to wait for 45 mins which was annoying as we were both starving. However it was fairly busy and there seemed to be only 3 members of waiting staff available so that was understanding I suppose! And the staff were extremely apologetic and friendly throughout the whole service. I opted for the 'Happy Ham, Wild Mushrooms, Mozzarella, Creamy Ricotta and thyme' pizza and my partner opted for the meat Calzone. To share we chose the cheesy garlic bread - always a winner in my opinion! When the food came it was piping hot but delicious! And massive! I loved the ricotta on my pizza as it added that extra creamyness. And the pizza didn't have a soggy bottom! Winning! The garlic bread in my opinion could have done with a little bit more cheese but it was still tasty! After all of that bread we were stuffed so we didn't get to try the puddings! Sad times! The decor in Herb Garden is shabby chic with the chandelier being made out of wine glasses, which in my opinion looked incredible! And a good use of upcycling! Overall a lovely place for a bit of munch!

They have a great selection of vegan cakes - there were are least 4 to choose from, as well as other non-vegan ones, and I went for the Victoria Sponge. I've not had Victoria Sponge for years! If I'm honest it's because I thought a vegan version would be heavy and stodgy, but this one was beautifully light and airy, and the delicate tastes of vanilla and strawberries were just perfect. My other half had lemon poppyseed - I had a cheeky wee bite and it was also delicious. There was a lovely relaxed atmosphere in the cafe, it's light and airy feeling, and the woman working there was really friendly. So it was nice to chill out and watch the world go by in the street outside. And eat delicious cake. If I'm in Newcastle again, I'll definitely be back at Sky Apple Cafe. And not just for cake. It's a vegetarian cafe, and they look to be able to customise a lot of the dishes for vegans. It's open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and I could probably eat there quite happily all day - from a full fry up breakfast, complete with 'fakin' bacon' (haha!) through to a hummus burrito for dinner - that just sounds delicious!

Can't fault the location on Newcastle Quayside and unusually this restaurant has rooms within the stone arch leg of the old high level bridge so you feel like you're outside except for the fact that you're toasty and warm from the flowing food and drink! If you miss out on these rooms and are seated at the front of the restaurant you can at least see the kitchen in front of you which is a nice touch. Happy hour means you can afford to eat out on a budget with some pizzas and pastas priced at £6. Headed here for sunday lunch once too....reluctantly as surely this would be better at a British pub over an Italian restaurant?? Well I was surprised at how amazing this was...the meat was cooked perfectly although overall the portion was a bit on the small side.
