They have a great selection of vegan cakes - there were are least 4 to choose from, as well as other non-vegan ones, and I went for the Victoria Sponge. I've not had Victoria Sponge for years! If I'm honest it's because I thought a vegan version would be heavy and stodgy, but this one was beautifully light and airy, and the delicate tastes of vanilla and strawberries were just perfect. My other half had lemon poppyseed - I had a cheeky wee bite and it was also delicious. There was a lovely relaxed atmosphere in the cafe, it's light and airy feeling, and the woman working there was really friendly. So it was nice to chill out and watch the world go by in the street outside. And eat delicious cake. If I'm in Newcastle again, I'll definitely be back at Sky Apple Cafe. And not just for cake. It's a vegetarian cafe, and they look to be able to customise a lot of the dishes for vegans. It's open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and I could probably eat there quite happily all day - from a full fry up breakfast, complete with 'fakin' bacon' (haha!) through to a hummus burrito for dinner - that just sounds delicious!

Although the menu is limited I am confident nosy people would easily find something they liked. The dessert was just fabulous and definately would make me wanna go back there! The staff were nice and it is reasonably priced. The reason I'm not giving it a 5 * is because I thought it was a bit too claustrophobic in there and the service was slightly too slow. (But only slightly!!)

It's cosy and has a lovely unique look to it with their unusual decor (like photo slide lampshades). Parking can be an issue as there's only on-street parking, and most of it is 'residents only'. Public transport links are good though as there's a train station less than five minutes away, and nearby bus stops. The staff are always friendly and happy to help with any dietary requirement requests. The food is always really tasty however portions can be small and it's expensive. Expect to pay at least £10 just for a main course. They have an excellent range of beers, wines and soft drinks, all suitable for vegetarians. Dessert time is always disappointing for vegans as all they ever serve is plain dairy-free vanilla ice cream, no sauce. They have at least four other desserts for vegetarians. On my visit today I was even more disappointed than usual as my friend had the dairy ice-cream and got twice as much as me for the same price! If you like fine food, and don't mind paying for it, then this is a wonderful place! It's also great for special occasions but, due to the price, I wouldn't make it a regular place to eat.

These guys are primarily vegetarian, but they certainly cater for vegans too. I was recommended it when I was avoiding wheat to test what was up by a good friend who'd been here a lot. It's right next to eaglescliff station and short walk over the bridge and up the hill from yarm. The decor is sweet, and the staff both times I've been have been wonderful. The food is simple but tasty and well seasoned, and it is expensive compared to some of the other places nearby but I wouldn't say expensive for vegetarian food I've had in most restaurants.

As we ventured inside, the first room was full of luxurious sofas and leather chairs, an area perfect for people with young families or couples having a spot of lunch. This leads into the counter area were you order your food. The menu is primarily vegetarian with a variety of dishes like quiches, butternut squash lasagnes, vegetarian burgers, all good wholesome food. There is variety of filled sandwiches and jacket potatoes with a sizeable side salad too. There were some half term specials including some meat/fish dishes like meatballs, seared tuna and an Aberdeen Angus burger. We dined in the main area with spacious wooden tables with chunky wooden tables, surrounded by local art - spectacular visions of the tempestuous sea. A huge wooden boat suspended above us too! We ordered a chunky vegetable soup with a heart shaped croûton, and accompanying homemade rolls (still warm!). I had the Welsh Rarebit, with the cheese infused with mustard and sweet onion chutney side. Both dishes were very fresh and tasty, its nice to find a restaurant that is just a little bit different. The coffee was not to my taste though, a little acrid, but that's just personal taste. Will definitely return to sample more of the menu.

Which I always like to see in train stations, that they haven't come under the thumb of the Starbucks monopoly: "land on green, you must pay £40 for a giant coffee that we don't pay tax on") I was greeted by *the* friendliest older chap, and I mean, even friendlier than your standard Geordie, I was only in there for 3 or 4 minutes grabbing between changes, but we got talking about the holiday I was about to go off on and his friends who lived over there without any effort. Everything was really reasonably priced, and such a good range of choice for those with awkward dietary requirements (sorry guys, it is awkward) I grabbed a vegan berry cheesecake, scattered with pistachios and coconut shavings, tempted by the vivid purple and green, paid up, and was handed a spoon without having to ask, and headed to my platform, past the little area you can sit outside there. It was then I realised gor much my little desert looked like play dough, so slightly fearful when I tried it, it was lovely. A little oily, which I've grown to expect from Paleo products, but so tasty. And, being a vegan one, I could pretend it wasn't entirely bad for me too! Huzzah!

Good way to eat clean on the go - there aren't normally enough veggies in takeaway meals from grocery stores, so this place fills a needed gap. All clean-eaters, vegetarians (they do have meat I think, it's just organic maybe?), and people trying to eat healthy food that isn't boring should stop in here before catching their next train.
