Okay - so delicious! First impressions? Easy parking within Thunder Bay Mall (right off Little…read moreCanada Road). Upon entry, I felt transported into Middle Eastern heritage due to the decor. From bamboo seats, to history on the walls, to colorful murals - the interior is decorated perfectly. There is even a small game section with uno, dominos and other board games for patrons to take advantage of. Seating options: lots! The variety is what you'd expect for a business: bar seating faces the parking lot which allows for natural light to seep in, 1 couch area with surrounding chairs, roughly 20 tables, about 6 booths and 1 giant closed off space with a long workstyle table which I'm unclear if you have to rent it or if it's free game. The service was mostly quick with a large menu displayed on the wall or a printed version which was nice to have options. As I prefer to use a hand-held menu, I took one home and repurposed it for a bookmark and eventually used it to revisit menu items. This trip I didn't opt in for any treats, but there is a plethora of options in the front display case including pistachio cake, Oreo cheesecake, spicy chicken curry pie, cake pops, and tiramisu. I was pretty basic on this visit attempting the Mufawaar coffee which is a medium roast coffee with cardamom and cream. The barista asked if I wanted sugar which I agreed. This drink was outstanding!! I would get it again for sure. What I enjoyed most about Qamaria is that I felt as if I was learning about another culture as it promoted me to research Yemen more. In addition, I could taste the fresh spices in my drink which is hard to find at other coffee shops. Lastly, I'm all for promoting small business and ones that are unique to Minnesota. Qamaria is all of it. Thank you!! I look forward to returning with friends on my next visit.

Not a cheap cup to coffee - $6 for the cheapest and there wasn't just a plain option so I got Turkish with cardamom which I liked. Also got the pistachio baklava and loved it - would recommend. Not a good grab and go option

I said, oh no, I drove all the way here for them, I ain't leavin, I'll wait. She hollered back to the cooks and asked how long on the donut holes and they said it would be about 10 to 15 minutes. I said I was fine with waiting and I picked out some donuts from the case. Listen. I get it. You want fresh donuts for everyone. You don't want customers waiting even though you have designated dine-in seating that I have seen made use of on a Sunday morning by the 60+ sect with copies of the day's newspaper available to them for reading. But I was nothing if not fully and totally amenable to the prospect of waiting. I drove out here, I used the gas, and frankly, it was all I wanted for my order. I came specifically for the donut holes and the extra donuts were for my bf. It's not to say he doesn't like them, he very much does but he can't get his mitts in fast enough to get them before I gobble them all down like some sort of baked goods hobbit goblin. My Precious(es). I like that the sugar glaze makes them crunch and you can taste the butter. They're light and airy and they make me happy. Anyways. I would like to note that the last time I put an order in ahead of time, it got lost in the shuffle and when I came to pick it up, it wasn't ready and instead of taking the risk and missing out, I just went to the shop and ordered them right there and I figured by doing so close enough to open, they'd have donut holes available. I didn't know they were essentially made to order but I presume since I arrived a half hour after they opened, they surely must have simply run out. To that end, I don't see how it would really matter all that much who buys them and how much of them are bought considering you're still getting paid, whether it's my money or Burt's, our cash is still the same shade of green and still fits the same way in your register. So time ticks on, I'm waiting, another lady purposefully walks in and walks around the counter with all the authority and lateness I would expect from a managerial type. I couldn't make out all of what was said but I did hear, ".....No. She's waiting on a dozen donut holes..." So then I got concerned bc I thought they were gonna cheap me out and only give me a dozen when I paid for 2 so when I got my donut holes I asked for another dozen. The manager possibly owner type takes my box and puts another dozen in. I ask if that makes 3 dozen and she said, "I actually put more than that in there." All of what I'm recounting to you should ultimately be what one might consider a 5 star review but I can't bring myself to do it. I don't know what is going on with customer service in general but I blame the cost of living crisis. It's pushed a bunch of ppl who have no business interacting with customers into jobs where they have to interact with customers and they are doing a horrible job if it. It's not rocket science. Customer service has the easiest formula on earth: 10 foot rule; you see a customer w/in 10ft of you, you say hello and ask them if you can help them with anything. They give you their order You say: Great choice, but it's gonna be about 10 to 15 minutes, are you okay with waiting for the best donuts in the twin cities? Customer says yes. You: Sounds good. Here's a newspaper if you want something to read. End of interaction until you hand me my order. Very simple. What you don't do is try and talk me out of giving you my money. And when I try to give you MORE of my money, you don't respond like I just told you your cat has cancer. You just give me my f*cking donuts and you smile and we f*ck off until I see you again when I want a lard and carbo bomb in 7 months man. Why is this such a difficult concept? I'm not even asking you to be fake nice to be but don't try and weird me out of buying your sh*t. What's the point then? Alternately, when the elderly ladies are working, placing an order has them diving for donuts like they're dodging a Blitzkrieg. It's very unnecessarily chaotic. I would be okay with changing my review if they maybe take it down a notch but I doubt they will.

I came back the next day and got a banh mi that was HUGE and delicious. The "House" is about ten bucks and that is a great deal for such a large, stuffed sandwich. They cut it in half and you can absolutely consider splitting it with someone or making two meals of it. Tons of Asian flavors on fresh-baked baguette bread. Absolutely outstanding. I brought home some treats from the pastry display, including an above average vanilla eclair and some macarons, one of which is super big! It's like hamburger sized, look at my picture. All of it really good. The service is very pleasant and upbeat, and it's a cute, homey space. I love this bakery!

There are also Banh mis and Vietnamese coffee. I liked the almond croissant and the salted caramel Vietnamese coffee. They had great flavor and tasted fresh. The cream puff was decent and not too heavy, and the strawberry croissant was too sweet and heavy for me. The pandan dessert had really good pandan flavor, but the inside was a little too sweet and rich for me. I split it up into a few dessert meals. The owner was really nice and gave a free French bread, which I also liked. It wasn't too thick and it had a nice crisp to the outside. I would come back to try a couple other desserts and get the almond croissant again!
