This review is both personal and not. I worked at this location, and while I have many awful experiences I could share, I'll try to keep this balanced. As a member, the gym itself is okay. The space is large, and it has a lot to offer. I continued paying for my membership because I genuinely enjoyed the martial arts classes which, in my opinion, is the entire point of this gym's existence. The machines, however, haven't really changed since they opened. It wasn't until after the 10-year anniversary that they finally brought in some new equipment. Now for the part that's personal: management. I cannot stress this enough my PERSONAL experience with management was awful. I was fired after being late to work because I had just been in a car accident. The operations manager at the time, Hannah Amayo (who has since resigned), made my life miserable. She and Kate Hansen teamed up to fire me, and it absolutely broke me at the time because I truly needed that job after being T-boned on my way home. As for the facility itself: the gym was always dirty, bathrooms were frequently broken (sinks, toilets, blow dryers), and equipment constantly needed repairs that never seemed to happen. Maintenance was almost nonexistent from what I saw. I know management has changed since 2019, but I found this review sitting in my drafts and figured it was finally time to post it. Needless to say, I eventually canceled my membership because why would I pay over $100/month for a gym that isn't properly maintained? Instead of opening new locations, they should at least invest in the ones they already have. read more

Regret signing up with them and have tired multiple times to get a call back from someone from their team regarding question on my account. Just bad communication. Wish I had listened to the reviews before signing up. Especially the ones about cancellation process being an absolute nightmare. This is not a UFC Gym corporate location, it is a franchise. I've gone to UFC Gym corporate locations and they are way better. Starting off by giving credit where it's due, the coaches that I worked with are top-notch guys extremely knowledgeable and are real fighters. Absolutely no complaint there five stars for the coaches. Had an awesome time in the training session. The problem is when you need to leave the gym. In my situation, I had received a promotion where I was relocating to another state. I cannot come in person anymore and so I tried to cancel my membership over the phone. The lady over the phone told me that they cannot cancel over the phone and then I had to come in. Mind you I was 25 hours away. I told him it would not be possible for me to come in to pass me to the manager after which she just hung up on me. They kept trying to contact me and I kept trying to tell them that I was not gonna be able to come in and that they needed to cancel my membership and stop charging my card. They continued to try to charge my card, which I did not let them do since I'm able to block all of my cards from being charged. But you can see the charges adding up and declining. After this, I wrote an email to them saying that I would not be paying this money and that they needed to cancel my membership ASAP. After six months of them unsuccessfully trying to charge my card. They proceeded to send the debt over to collections. Now I have this in collections with the collection company contact me every day for a balance I've disputed due to the fact that I did not use this membership at all for the time period that I'm being charged. Everything is great when you're in the gym, but it's when you're trying to leave that the problems start. Also on a side-note, their desk personnel, for the most part is completely unprofessional, have zero experience in sales. And just try to push classes and products to you every single time you're there to the point where it gets annoying, even having a walk in the gym. (Im guessing this is an initiative from the franchisee trying to money grab) Every time I went in the gym, I knew that they were gonna try to push some sort of protein or more classes on me even if that's not what I wanted. if you're really interested in fighting, and learning different styles and your already enrolled in clases at UFC talk to the coaches and see what other fighting gyms they work at because UFC is usually not the only one. Go to an actual fighting Gym, it's probably a bit more expensive but the experience will be so much better. read more

Worst gym experience ever - UFC Gym is a scam I signed up thinking this gym would be professional and straightforward, but my experience has been nothing but a nightmare. A month ago, I realized the location was too far from my job and immediately canceled my membership through the UFC app. I followed up multiple times: * Charles Sham told me he saw my membership marked as "pending," which he said meant it was already canceled. * Oscar Ungia told me the same thing in person--that my cancellation was pending. * Chris (the manager) personally told me my membership was canceled. Despite all of that, I've continued to be charged. At this point, it's over $150 stolen from me for a membership I did not use and explicitly canceled weeks ago. The customer service is some of the worst I've ever experienced. When I tried to call, Oscar literally attempted to hang up on me, saying my time wasn't as important as the people in front of him. That's completely unprofessional and unacceptable. Instead of helping resolve the problem, they dismiss you, talk over you, and give the runaround. This gym's practices are dishonest, misleading, and borderline fraudulent. They'll keep charging you even after confirming your membership is canceled, and then refuse to take accountability when you demand answers. Save yourself the headache--do not sign up here. I've been training with Adriana for months now, i was so excited cause I've never had a female trainer before. She's the best! Im not the kind of person that likes going to the gym but she makes it fun! It's like working out with a best friend. Shes very knowledgeable too! She takes the time to explain the proper posture and she explains which muscle groups it involves too. For all the months I've worked out with her, shes only ever called in sick once and when she did, she gave me a very detailed work out plan for upper body and lower body free of charge. I read here in the comments that she wasn't professional??? Thats major BS! Shes so professional to the point that when someone tries to get her attention while shes training me, she tells them to talk to her after our session cause shes working. That showed me how much she respects my time and how much she takes our sessions seriously. I liked her so much i took her high intensity DUT classes too. Because of her, i feel stronger from our strength training. And more confident too cause she is very body positive! But most importantly because of her, i now like going to the Gym. read more

So I've been coming here since it opened. It's a shame how it started so well, and now it can not keep up with basic amenities, and classes. I loved how everything I loved about martial arts is under one roof, and for one low price (started $45/month for ultimate package). Today so many good and experienced coaches, and managers have left the place (coach Matt, coach Mark, etc). It seems like all is left is a dirty gym, with dirtier bag room, an octagon that never gets used, and managers that are only focused on recruiting new members. Today I showed up for the third time this month, and the coach who runs the class is a no show. I used to love this place! I'm an old timer, I pay low rates, but I've heard rates are $120/ month now. This gym is pretty solid but it's overcrowded at the usual peak times. The fitness classes are great for cardio. The reason I rate this so low is because getting a membership here feels like haggling for a used car. If you don't take the upfront rate the "closer" they have on site will begin slashing prices and creating more enticing offers to get you to sign on the dotted line. You should only consider this gym if you're looking to work out here long-term. Their marketing tactics to get you to sign are borderline deceptive and create urgency. read more

New to the gym so I hope the new gym at Sun Valley will be better at enforcing teens/young adults to not come here to sit on weight equipment doing absolutely nothing and stare at their phones. I came at 8pm and counted at least 10 people either sitting on equipment (Not in use) just talking like it's a hang out spot or staring on their phones as if they were at home on their couch. I canceled my membership before a month. Now they charge my account $85. I cancelled in person with Chris Logan. He did not mention that they will charge me in 30 days. I had the membership for over 2 years and this is how they treat the customers. Chris really needs a nice and honest person to train him how to deal with customers and meet their needs. Or, in my case, because my card on file expired, they attempted to collect on the monthly recurring billing. The end result was that I "owed the gym" $675/threat of collections until, lo and behold, they offered me $99 deal to sign back up. Obscene nickel-and-diming. Arguing with Operations Manager will only get you his rehearsed, limp comparisons to Netflix billing. Pathetic. Too bad because the trainers/coaches are absolutely amazing. read more

Let me start of by saying, I love UFC Gym. I worked there from 2010-2017. I started off as a personal trainer and eventually became the Assistant Fitness Manager.. To this day it is my favorite job that I've ever had. Some of the best memories and most important and impactful triumphs are directly connected to UFC Gym Concord.. I have been a part of many gyms and, by far UFC Gym Concord is my favorite gym of all time. I say all this to let you understand how much it sucks having to write this terrible review. Once I left UFC I stayed as a member as I couldn't and still can't imagine training somewhere else but last year I had to put my membership of freeze due to some injuries. I have had a hard time making it back there due to some financial restraints but I fully intend on going back so I have kept my membership frozen which costs $15 a month. There have been a couple times where I missed the payment in which case UFC Gym charges an additional $25 as a late fee ( which is significantly higher that the frozen membership ) rounding up the total to about $40. In the times where I have missed my payment, it is what it is. It sticks for me but I don't complain as that is their policy, however yesterday July 7Th 2025, I remembered that I had changed my debit card as I had been using a temporary so my $15 payment most likely never went threw so I called UFC Gym on the same day my $15 payment was due, so that I could give them my card information and still make my $15 payment. I spoke with someone named Charles who told me that, i would still be charged the late fee for the full amount of $40 even tho I hadn't missed the day yet so I asked to speak with the Operations manager. From that point a woman named Cecily gets on the phone the assistant operations manager. I go on to explain the situation and she further goes on to tell me that I will be charged the full $40 even though i'm trying to pay on the same day that it's due. I told her that that was completely unacceptable and I feel that unethical business standards and I don't have the $40 to pay because I barely have enough to pay for my car loan and make the $15 payment. I asked to speak with her manager at which point she said OK let me get him and she put me on hold. She never got back on the phone at all. At which point Charles gets back on the phone and tells me that the manager is not in. It was a little past 6 PM so I asked for his email. I wrote an extensive email to the operations manager of UFC Gym whose name is Christopher Branson. I went into full detail explaining the situation and that I am trying to pay on the same day that my $15 frozen membership is due and that unfairly charging me additional $25 late fee would make it unable for me to pay my car loan. I never got an email back. I never got a callback or any type of consideration or any type of consideration whatsoever. I woke up the next morning to an automated text from UFC Gym saying that they're trying to pull $40 and now, there's a problem with my membership. I really do hate having to give an honest one star review to a company that changed my life for the better on numerous occasions. However, the management and leadership in that club is nonexistent, unethical and has clearly become a company that is highly driven by corporate practices and has no conceptual understanding of community or ethical business practices.. read more

UFC Gym in Concord is hands down one of the best gyms I've been to (compared to 24, city sports, and planet fitness). It has 3 Olympic lift platform/squat racks, an additional platform and cage squat rack, a variety of plate-loaded machines and beginner-friendly machines, up to 120lb dumbbells, a large turf area for functional training with sleds and tires, boxing/MMA/juijitsu classes, HIIT classes, and more. I agree with some comments about some equipment needing repairs or upgrades but the community (including the staff and members) and positive environment far outweigh that. It's very friendly and a comfortable environment for women. Yes, we lost great coaches from pre pandemic but we gained a lot of new ones. :-) I'm currently training with Coach Nick 1-2x per week, and I'm really enjoying my sessions. I think I'm pretty fitness-knowledgeable but there's always more to learn, and I wanted help with my accountability during the holidays. Nick puts in time to create new and challenging exercises and makes tweaks to existing exercises to make them more challenging. He is very knowledgeable, encouraging, and calm. One of the reasons I have been at this gym for so long was 1. All the options for working out it was like a candy store 2. The coaches who were top knotch in my opinion And 3. The community was unlike any gym I've ever been in. Even during fitness challenges at other UFC gyms our vibe was unlike any other gym there. The love and support we have for our gym and each other can't be matched ANYWHERE Fast forward to the present due to the departure of staff members/coaches the vibes have changed. You can feel it when you walk in leaving many people feeling like corporate NOT management don't care. I understand sometimes a "Fresh" perspective is important to some I just hope that whoever makes these decisions realizes that without the community of people that have been members for 8+ years there might not be a successful gym. I have been a member at many gyms in the Bay Area, but nothing compares to UFC in Concord! I've been a UFC member for the past 3-4 years and have had my best health journey moments happen here! The UFC team is super supportive, helpful, and approachable. Jason is such a kind and proactive general manager and Coach Brandon is super detailed as the sales manager! They have created such a power duo that it keeps me motivated and curious to trying new things! So I decided to sign up with a personal trainer named Kim for the first time in 2021. She was such an amazing, dedicated coach! Kim had many years of knowledge being a personal trainer and really laid the foundation down for me and my health journey! With her, I was able to lose around 20-30lbs while building muscle and toning. Then, when she transferred to another location, I unfortunately fractured my ankle and was still recovering from a pulled hamstring that I had for months. It took months before I could really come back to the gym. I had gained everything back and my self-esteem was super low. Then, I met my now Coach Nicholas Haro! He is such an amazing and passionate trainer that words don't do him justice. After signing up with Nick, he made sure to plan workouts that really targeted the hamstring and ankle issues. He is super attentive to my needs while providing me with professional tips and pointers to help me not only at the gym, but at home as well. Coming back to the gym after gaining the weight back and still recovering from injuries really shot my confidence and morale. But Nick really lifted me back up with his considerate and disciplined nature! I was finally able to recover from the injuries within a few months of hard work with him and in time for my wedding last year! I honestly think I met both of my coaches at the right time and when I needed them most. Can't wait to see what other health goals I will accomplish with the UFC team! read more

On July 17, 2023 I called to cancel my membership but unfortunately they could not give me a refund for the remaining of July. That was fine with me I could do anything else about it. And also you have to email to cancel the membership you cannot do it over the phone so I emailed them with the email they gave me over the phone. This gym has really gone way way way downhill. In the past few years they've steadily lost their best coaches, trainers and group fitness classes such as spin, yoga, zumba, cardio kickboxing, Pilates, barre, and others. A string of incompetent, clueless managers come and go. Fight Night used to be a fun activity for adults and kids alike and well-attended. Chairs were provided in the group fitness room and sometimes pizza for the children, but recently, when the fight is broadcast, members have to bring their own chairs. The atmosphere just isn't the same anymore. Other UFC gyms are so much better. read more

I called and spoke to Daniel and he said he would have a manager give me a call. I waited a small amount and then called back and asked him to take my card off file. Hoping I can get a call back from a manager today or tomorrow and update this review to a positive one. They have sent "on accident" several emails to me of other members personal information including their numbers and credit card information. All because they don't know how to send proper emails. & I was followed around and basically stalked by one of the guys that signed me up for my membership here. He even went out of his way to let me know that he wanted to talk to me that's why he kept following me around. Every time I would work out he would literally follow me to where I am trying to talk to me. How creepy. I would not recommend this to any female who wants to feel safe when they're working out. Or to any person in General who doesn't want their private information linked to random members of the gym. Private emails containing credit card info, people's numbers... this happened to me. All (the "manager") had to say was "that's an accident and we are working on it" after I kept emailing them letting them know time and time again I'm receiving customer's private information and details. read more

First of all, I love this gym. The coaches and the staff, they're all great. That's why I go here. This review is for their parking and lack of security cameras outside or on the side of the building. In the past, I've personally seen numerous cars get their windows broken while parked right there, within steps of the front door. I even spoke about it one incident while walking in the gym, I told the front staff that a bunch of cars in the front / side of the gym building had their windows broken in and the staff said they would report it. Well tonight, it happened to ME. Their "security guard" was nowhere to be seen and there I was, with my car window broken into, feeling absolutely violated. This sucks! This has happened way too often and they really need to do something about this... maybe one camera out there can help catch the guys that do this! read more
