The true definition of a hidden gem! I've known of J&P Cosentino Farm for years and knew the…read moregeneral area of where it was, but it really is tucked into a neighborhood so that you wouldn't find it unless you were looking for it. The farm sits at 2 acres and boasts a variety of fruit trees, some bee boxes, a small flower garden, and a very well stocked farmstand. The stand has a variety of in-season fruits and vegetables, starter plants and herbs (they had tomatoes and strawberries when I visited in April), and a bunch of locally made and seasonal goods. Not everything comes from the farm, but they source from other farms in the Bay Area and state, and local businesses. They also work with local businesses to use their produce for fun products like jams, cocktail mixers, and dried fruits. They have tours and events at the farm, we got a tour when we went and it was really cool to learn all about the history, see the different fruit trees, and then of course visit the farmstand after and shop around.

I finally got the chance to visit this local fruit stand and it really didn't disappoint. It's…read moretucked away in a really nice, quiet cul-de-sac in a clean neighborhood behind Branham High School on the south side. If you live in the Almaden or Branham area, it's such a cool little hidden gem and definitely worth stopping by. The fruit looked super fresh, though the prices are higher than I expected, more like Whole Foods level prices. I thought going straight to the source would mean much lower prices, but what you lose in price, you definitely gain in freshness. For example, their strawberries were $5 per little green basket (three for $15), which comes out to about $5 a pound. At Costco, organic strawberries are $5.49 for 2 pounds, roughly $2.75 per pound. The giant seeded watermelons were $12.49 here, compared to $6.49 at Walmart. (Suggestions from a visitor) A couple of friendly suggestions that I think would be really helpful: It would be great if they posted online what fruit is in season and what will be at the stand, along with the prices. That way people can plan ahead and know when to make the drive when their favorite fruits are available. Also, there are no signs letting customers know they can go in the back. I only knew because I saw pictures on Yelp. Locals who've been here before probably already know, but as a first-timer, it looked like an employee-only area so I didn't go back there. A simple sign would be awesome, it would bring more people to the back to sit, eat, and enjoy the space since most fruit stands don't have that nice extra feature. Overall, worth visiting if you don't mind paying a bit more for freshness.

This is a rating for Saul Sandoval who participates in the farmers market…read more He and his partner/dad are veryfriendly and even had Chile relleno as a burrito. For my regular chile relleno burrito, a large chicken quesadilla, and two horchatas it came out to $18 which is extremely competitive for the area. But that's not all, the flavor of the burrito itself was amazing. I think I found my new favorite Mexican food place. The chicken within the quesadilla is very tender and not dry at all. They also loaded us up with sauces. Hot cream sauce, mild cream sauce, guacamole, green salsa, pico, red salsa, and mango pico. All fantastic flavor. I'd come back anytime they're open.

It's a good flow of people, not overly crowded or busy. I also frequently pick up eggs, cheese, and bread here too. There's a good variety and I like how the tents are close together for easy access. I've gone to farmer's markets, where the tents are further apart and it feels a bit disjointed. I love bumping into the same vendors every week and listening to the fun, live music in the background.

The mulberries are so good!…read more After reading a lot of their reviews, i was a bit worried about driving all the way there and not getting any mulberries so I texted their number to schedule a pick up. The berries are super fresh and sweet! I feel like it's the perfect summer fruit. The darker they are, the sweeter they are but i also really like the slight tartness that the just ripe ones have as well. I picked up 2 pounds on my first go but my family and I ate it all within 3 days so I had to go back to pick up 5 more pounds. I recommend texting or calling before you go to make sure they're open as they do sell out quickly. I didn't try the u-pick as I didn't have time but I would like to try next year!

We were saying we'd like to come back again with the rest of our family since the kids enjoyed it! We were told the golf cart will do their rounds to drop and pick people up. However, since the cart wasn't there yet & we needed to use the restroom close by, we decided to just walk to the restroom. And we can see the front from there so we decided we would just walk back after. A car was coming so I told my daughter to move in so the car can pass. *HONK HONK* as if we were running. She rolls down the window and starts giving us a huge attitude about how we are not suppose to be walking around "Stay right there!" She was so completely rude I knew it had to be none other than the owner because everyone else we encountered were so kind! Literally a family with small children just walking didn't need to be honked at. We were already stopped when she approached so she could have just rolled her window down and spoke to us nicely. We didn't know there was a rule of no walking or we would have been more than happy to obligated. She should definitely have a staff member roaming the grounds instead of herself because she definitely cannot control her bad attitude and should not be out in the wild.

We arrived about an hour before closing and there were only a few other people picking cherries. We walked up and were told what to look for and what cherries to avoid. It's more expensive than the store for bing cherries, but you can't beat the quality, freshness and supporting a family business. We picked cherries for about 20 minutes and of course took the opportunity to take some pictures. We picked about a pound and a half and were on our way. This was a great quick stop and we had a healthy snack on our road trip. I would recommend stopping if you are in the area.
