Once seated, you are treated like a local who is well loved. Excellent appetizers that are fresh and mind-blowing (you seriously cannot choose a bad one), and fabulous love, attention and drink service. You'll leave with a smile on your face and feeling like a local. Excellent fresh food, excellent generous beverages.

Someone recommended this place to my friend so we stopped by, and wow! Delicious…read more The Spanish "tortilla" was packed with flavor. The onions were jammy and so flavorful; they made this dish amazing. Definitely different from all the other tortillas I had. Grilled beef sweetbread bruschetta, with melted havarti cheese and chimichurri was rich but not filling, so I ordered the Red tuna tartar with wasabi pearls. My friend had the oxtail fajita- which she loved. All of the food we had here was great. I only wish we had been told that we could only get the dolce de leche volcano if we ordered it at the same time as our food. I was really looking forward to it. Instead we had the carrot and ginger pie (cake) with yogurt and the lemon pie. Of note, this place is small, so be prepared to wait. You can sit and eat at the bar.

Juana la Loca - This place was packed. Lack of A/C had me dying. Angel was an amazing server, however. Thanks man!

It was a weeknight but it was late night, so the spots on Pez were popping. We worried this one would be too crowded too since it was close to Plaza Mayor, but a table opened up quickly. You order at the bar. The bartender was super nice - he was French and I'm American but we were able to piece together each other's Spanish. I think this is a phenomenal value for money. For about 3-4 Euros each, you get a gigantic slice of the tortilla of your choice, served up instantly. There were plenty of vegetarian options. We went for the goat cheese, the parmesan, and the classic. I thought they were all great, the parmesan was probably my favorite. They are a little more liquidy and creamy than the standard spanish omelet you'll find in many more traditional tapas places, but I like my eggs that way anyway. We also tried the truffle croquettes, which were so savory and piping hot, with the absolute perfect temperature and consistency. We each had a beer as well. There was a mix of generations, though mostly late twentysomethings and thirtysomethings. Very hip place, lots of locals. I'd recommend a visit and would return if back in Madrid!

Luckily, we got there when it first opened so we were pretty much the first ones it, but it quickly got full. You order at the counter and they bring the items to your table. I am now a big fan of the Spanish tortilla (egg pancake type of dish)! We were served quickly and since on our friends is gluten free they were good at guiding her to what would work best for her. I highly recommend going to a Pez Tortilla when you are in Madrid!

We ordered lots of tapas and a few bigger dishes. We really enjoyed everything, especially the white prawn on toast, smoked cod on toast, squid ink with rice, and pork cheeks. The duck with orange slices was also good, but the orange slices overpowered the duck flavor. The black pudding dumpling was also very tasty. Their service was good and the food arrived fairly quickly; they also had a menu in English. We saw lots of people with vermouth cocktails, but I did not have a chance to try it (it looked good though!). They also had seating downstairs but it didn't look like many people were there. This was definitely one of our favorite tapas places in Madrid!

We wasted no time and ordered their white vermut and red vermut and then tried their spanish wine.. their wine was great but their house vermut - undeniably the best I had in Madrid (trust me I had plenty). They give free tapas with their drinks - mushrooms (wow) and also ham and mini breadsticks. This was perfect to pair with our vermut and wine. We loved their house vermut so much that we ordered 2 bottles to take back home with us. Staff was friendly and loved the vibe of this bar. I will miss this place for sure! Highly recommend.

Botin is…read morethe world's oldest continuously operating restaurant, with the world's continuously operating oven. People line up before opening to get a table. It is required that each guest orders at least one main entree. They are known for their suckling pig, which I am not a fan of, so I ordered their roasted chicken instead. The chicken was moist and tender, slightly under-seasoned, but not bad for a weeknight dinner. The vegetables it came with were overcooked, kind of like those you would get from a cheap cafeteria. That's okay...it is not a fine-dining restaurant. I think it's fun to come here once, just to say that you ate at the world's oldest continuously operating restaurant. Order some classic dishes, have low expectations, and you will be pleasantly satisfied.

I guess they've perfected their recipe over the past 300 years! Price for the Menu 1725 was 90€, very reasonable for the quantity and quality of food. I was afraid it would be a tourist trap (it was #1 on our tour's list) but was very happy to see local families dining. And a bachelor party from Australia that we out-rowdied. Yay USA! If you get a chance, go!
