I called 5 of them and waited for responses. A manager at Golden Group was the first to respond. I made an appointment with him on the following Saturday and by then 3 others had responded and met me on that day. Long story short: I chose Golden Group and am still pleased I did. They finished the job in 2 days with a large, industrious crew who were incredibly hardworking and did a wonderful job cleaning up. For the last five years we have been trying to get "one more year" out of the roof. When the vendor who cleans our gutters said we had a roofing section down to bare wood we became mobilized. On December 26th, using Google reviews, we called the first roofer presenting, Pinnacle Exteriors, (they had 20 five-star reviews and was from the neighboring town) Chris was over within about two hours that same day, had taken photos and was able to show us where the issues existed. We considered other roofers, some even recommended by close friends, but Chris stood out with his no nonsense, can do, we can fit it in during a break in the weather over the next two weeks, approach. Other roofers didn't seem to want the job. Chris considers this time of year in many ways optimal to be installing a roof. When a clear weather day approached with a 40 degrees forecast, Chris let me know that was the day. On Jan 23, 2024, a crew of nine arrived and completed both house and garage roof replacements in one day (7:30 am to 5:00 pm). Chris and his entire crew are very professional, knowledgeable and very easy to communicate with. They are real craftsmen taking extra care in all their work. Even repairing some issues with our chimneys and gutters. Chris and his son Nick went into the attic and covered everything and then cleaned up after. They did a thorough clean up and also used a large rolling magnet to pick up all the nails. Chris came back the next day after the dumpster was removed to again do a magnet sweep of the driveway. This company is very detail oriented. We were extremely pleased with the result and the look of the roofs. Did you know, Chris is also a great carpenter! This year he was back for another big job and some smaller yet tedious jobs. We had him repair and cover all the exposed (and some rotted) exterior wood on our entire 1920 house. That included the wood window trim, soffits and trim around all the doors. It was a big job as we have a large multi family house. He replaced the house numbers, and also did some paint touch up. We also decided to have him replace four outside storm doors which also meant rewiring the doorbells or installing wireless doorbells. He also supplied and installed windows, including those hard to get to windows in the basement. He probably did more work that I don't even know about as he takes pride in his work and is meticulous. Friends that have spoken to me or read my review of his roof work, are also impressed. I feel like we hit the jackpot with Chris. He's a great guy, very honest and you can trust him. In October of 2025 I signed a contract with a company called Teixeira Construction Remodel Inc…read more based in Southborough MA. Gave them a 20% deposit. And another 20% when they started in December. They worked on the project for a couple months. Here are the issues I ran into. After stripping the existing siding and trim they started residing. Soon I realized that they weren't putting the contract specified PVC trim around the windows. This is the actual contract language; "Installation of new 5/4x4 PVC trim with integrated pocket on windows and doors". After bringing this to their attention they claimed that they had some verbal conversation with me and this was not required. I have no recollection of such an agreement and would never have agreed to anything not documented in writing. Rather than dispute this I agreed to a change order (funded by me) to at least do the windows facing the road and neighbors. I raised another concern about exposed Cortex plugs in the PVC trim (see pictures). They weren't drilling the screws far enough, so when they hammered in the plugs, they bottomed out on the screw head leaving part of the plug exposed. They addressed a few lower ones, but many are still showing. They consulted me about where to position a horizontal PVC board which separated the lower clapboards from the upper board and baton on one the front peaks. We agreed on the best solution but after they did the work, they did something completely different. Had to live with what they did. Lastly, I called to their attention a problem I found in the spring where the clapboard siding above a rear sliding door was protruding (see picture). They sent someone out, didn't schedule with me, and addressed the issue. The problem is what they did is nail the clapboard to the house. This is not suppose to be done as with all siding like this (Everlast) the boards are suppose to move horizontally given expansion and contraction with temperature changes. I suspect that this voids the Everlast factory warranty which I am still researching. One very dissatisfied customer. Can't give them a recommendation
