Ok. This review will be a little bit different because Im going to be posting it from a DRIVER's point of view instead of a passenger.
As many drivers around, Uber has become the easiest, most convenient way to make some money. Most as I noticed do it full time. In my case is only part time. I use my personal vehicle to give rides on fri-sat night, sometimes sundays. So far, so good. I have the HUGE advantage to live right next to the Disneyland resort area, which as you may imagine is always busy regardless of the day and/or time. A lot of short rides (park-hotel and viceversa) very similar to those rides you take in Vegas.
However, as a recommendation for you riders out there, let me give you some tips in order to make your ride soft and relaxing, the way it should be:
- NEVER request your ride from unreachable places, come on!!! Sidewalk in the middle of an avenue? A corner without stop light or sign? Bus stops? No particular driver can stop in a bus station, is against traffic rules (lf you guys don't know it)
- inside an apartment complex? Thats ok, just don't expect from us to get there in a snap if you don't give us a code key to get in, and even inside, we still have to look where you are.
- refresh your location before requesting the app. We receive the location to pickup from the tip on your map, depending on your phone settings, it might not be automatically allowed to reach your GPS location permanently.
- If you request your ride, DONT MOVE, your locator doesn't move with you after you request the ride.
- Please be kind. Im not justifying bad service from some drivers, but the rider should not be an a...hole specially when we cannot find you in a very crowded location, like outside the stadium after a game, or after a concert, or a similar big event. Be kind. Be patient.
- Cancellation fees applies after 5 mins you request the ride OR if the driver marks as arrived and you cancel after, regardless how long it took for the driver to reach there.
- Surge fees applies at peak times. Don't want to pay surge? Just wait a little bit. Riders app is capable to notify you when prices are not surged.
- remember the rider is responsible for all the tolls we have to go within the route. No express lane are allowed for us to use, but tolls, yes. If we use one, you will be charged an extra for that, and yes, after the driver gets paid, we are responsible to pay that toll to the respective agency. No transponder is necessarily required.
- Drunk at night? Thats ok. We will give you the ride, but remember... you mess the car, you pay for it. Not to the driver directly, but to Uber. And yes, they will get back to you. And a mess is not only vomit. It includes baby mess, makeup stains, spitting inside the car (come on), spill liquids, you name it. After the ride we take pics of the mess and report it to Uber. They approve immediately a certain fee for professional cleaning, and yes, that fee will be charged to you.
- Please no more people than what fit in the car. For your own safety and ours. And also, insurance policies does NOT allow that.
- Don't get inside an Uber car unless you actually request it. This one time this couple of assholes in dwntwn Fullerton got inside the car and asked them what were they doing? One of us told me "just drive bitch" and holding my patience to the maximum I told them there was no request at this moment on my phone, the same asshole told me "we are doing you a favor, just drive this shit" and suddenly, a request came on my phone and had to be strong to tell them to get out of my car, they left finally saying "you could have cancel it" and left... Wanna do that? Get a yellow cab, bitch...
- Against what Uber says, tips are not included in the fare. We get paid 80% of you pay to them. Any tip will be very appreciated and yes, we should NEVER request for it as it should be totally voluntary. Whoever request it, report it.
- No smoking, vaping or eating will be allowed inside the vehicles. Please!!!
- Remember. Drivers rate riders as well. Any 3 stars or less and you might be kicked off the service or wont have any driver want to deal with you in the future.
- and last but not least, any customer service contact is via email. As a driver and rider, Uner is very good in answering any email in less than 10 mins 24 hours a day. No direct line since theres no dispatch service.
Hopefully this tips will help us on both sides to have a more pleasant experience. Im a huge believer this service is great and will continue to revolutionize the transportation industry for good.
Have a safe and pleasant Uber ride!!! read more
