After the free cancelation period has passed, a driver will accept your reservation request EVEN when they will not get there in time. UBER is not a good company, if you could drive/work for another company then DO it. I drive for Uber and they cheat there drivers out of pay meaning when you get a 1 hour ride you may pay approx. $40 or $50 but the drivers gets approx. $15 or $20. Got scammed by an Uber driver who took advantage of me on a trip to LAX. Driver said that he would cancel the ride and I could Zelle him $100 which was less than the surge price Uber quoted. I sent money to driver but he never canceled the ride and I ended up paying $120 to Uber plus the $100 to the scammer. Uber's responses were useless as they claimed they had a recording of me and the driver at LAX. They refuse to speak with you directly and only use AI to communicate. To date, I'm still out the money even though they know who the driver is and have the means to either prosecute the driver or refund my money. They've done nothing. Zelle has also been unhelpful. This was one of the worst experiences I've had. Uber advertises that as a female, I am allowed to ask as my preference a female driver. I am 70 years old, and I would rather have a woman driver and feel safer having a woman driver. Well, when I selected woman driver, it gave me that option, and then a man showed up I could not change it because I had to get to where I was going before 3 o'clock in the afternoon. I had ordered an Uber on 10/31/2024 and the charge was $9.73 with a return trip charge of $10.99. I was shocked by the difference in the pricing in less than 2 weeks. I asked the driver if something had changed with Uber in their pricing. He indicated all he was receiving for the trip was $6.98. He also said Uber is supposed to pay drivers 65% of fee and they keep the rest for administrative cost. The math does not make sense. Well i deliver for Uber eats and its an ok second if you just have nothing to do, but in the uber eats delivery there is an option to deliver packages, unless you enjoy paying to work and make somone else money I would not select this "option". I've used Uber for dozens and dozens of rides for the last 4-5 years until today. I just took an Uber today .. I had no food or beverage .. I picked up a small poodle & we drove back to my house. I picked the dog up so he wouldn't get the car dirty. Sat in my lap for the ride home ( about 4 miles , 20 mins in traffic ) and got to my house .. I got out. The dog immediately peed on a tree and the driver said .. " have a nice day" I get into my house and two mins later I got a notification that the driver said the car needed cleaning and $188 charge was added to my card. The driver lied and totally hustled me and the situation. I'm talking to Uber now. Unfortunately you can't speak on the phone to anyone. So I've filed a complaint against the driver, dropped his rating to one star and waiting to hear what can be done before I delete my Uber account. Lesson learned. Take pictures with your phone before you leave the car. And try Lyft . After this experience I'll never use Uber again. Update : Uber just refunded me all the charges except $10. So the $188 for the phony cleaning charge was refunded and the $28 for the trip was refunded. Justice was served. Now I would say .. take a photo of the car before you leave it. I cancelled 70 minutes after booking. But then got a "confirmation" of the upcoming booking. I returned the confirmation with a notice that I cancelled the ride.
