Needed a ride from Woodstock, IL to Ohare. It took the uberx 32 minutes when the app said it needed 7 minutes. The driver clearly passed me 4 times. When he finally arrived to pick me up 25 minutes late, he popped the trunk for me to put my bags in, which I didn't mind had he left space for that. His trunk space was cluttered with everything from pots and pans to pillows and a vacuum cleaner. I ended up putting my bags in the back seat with me. After I got in the backseat with my bags the driver who didn't speak English was trying to alert me about something and then he pointed at his gas gauge with the gas light signaling that he was low on fuel!! Good thing I left early, and so we went to the gas station where he filled up. Just when I thought things couldn't get worse, his uber app clearly wasn't working to give him directions and him not speaking English, I had to supply him with my phone and Waze app to get me to the airport. As soon as we got on the express way the uber app started working again and I had my phone back. After all of that, when I was dropped off at my terminal, the man put his hand up and I thought he was giving me a high five, but he was asking me to rate him 5 stars in broken English. read more

I first started using UBER in NYC. (and loved it) I came back home to Chicago and started using it, and loved it,.....up until this weekend. I thought the cars were always going to be nice and clean, and the drivers know their way around without having to ask a million questions. I happen to be from Chicago, so it wasn't that big of a deal. However, there were places I didn't even know exactly how to get there, but a cab driver would (should). Three UBER drivers this weekend didn't know how to get to a specific location, AND they picked me up in cars that were very icky. I was embarrassed as I was just explaining to my biggest client how "nice" UBER was. Uck. If I could, I would give this company a negative rating. I've just had my last dealing with Uber and I definitely intend to take my business elsewhere. I was given Uber credits -- what a fraud and a rip-off. Every time I tried to use the credits, it didn't work and I got charged full rate. I got the old run-around and was advised to try using the credits again on another trip. I have been dealing with a serious fraud issue on a corporate credit card directly linked to Uber, and they are unwilling to assist me to resolve the issue. Uber (Chicago division) has indicated they recognize the credit card is being used for someone else's account, but they are unwilling to help resolve the issue. He was rude As soon as we got in his suv, we had an extra passenger and he demanded we give him a $100 or to get out, he was very rude, and He honestly made me feel very uncomfortable. Best way to quickly and easily get a towncar or cab (if you're in Chicago at least). You sign up (usually can get $10 free if you have a friend refer you), give them your credit card info, choose your car type, set where you want to be picked up on a map and then a car comes and gets you. You get dropped off and bill is automatically charged to your card on file. The best part about this in my opinion in Chicago is being able to order taxis and pay the normal rate and not have to deal with swiping a card or having the cabbie tell you the "machine is broken". Really cool company that brings a service that is only really possible in a world where everyone has smartphones. Uber is my first option I check whenever I am in a city and need a car fast. read more

Uber is disgusting. Their customer service is horrible. They fraudulently charged my debt card 7 times over the past week! No one is willing to help, and there is no phone number to actually get a hold of someone. This is beyond illegal. I am planning on reporting them to the BBB. This should NEVER happen to anyone. This company canceled two of its drivers for my daughter when she was going for her interview with their company! They commented to her when she got there that it seemed she had a "stressful morning" because they knew about it and most likely set her up to be late! On my most recent usage, Uber charged me $77.37 which is over 3 times the normal cost to go from Andersonville to O'Hare. I didn't ask for a limo but was charged for a big black SUV. UBER updated me today that rates from airports in NJ to anywhere are averaged out, making their ride from Newark to any place in NJ cost as much as if customer rides from NYC airport. This makes UBER more expensive than taxi service! Beware. UBER remains a good choice for local suburban drives or borderline good for inner city drives. So this ticks me off. Uber is not cheaper than a cab/taxi to and from the airport. I paid over $100 to get to the airport and back by using uber, even though I asked for a carpool/ share a ride. My driver refused to wait for another rider. And a cab/taxi company quoted me $90 both ways. Should have taken a Taxi to the Airport Also, the Uber driver took Weber Road off of 55 South, then he made a left on Boughton Rd., then he made a right on 95th Street, and then he made a Right on Naperville /Plainfield Rd. And made a left on 75th street! (Whuch there was still 8 liles down 75th to go until it ends). When he could have just taken Lamont Rd. North and left on 75th St. ....all the way until 75th Street Ends (Which is shorter miles and time). He deliberately took a longer route, even though I told him a different way to go! WTF!! It is 32miles from my home to Midway Airport, and Somehow the driver added 5.5 miles more to the trip by taking a long detoured route. 2nd time an Uber driver has done this along with Not arriving on time (it says 4 mins away, and they arrive 15 mins later ). My second time trying to use Uber was last night after the Cubs game. We walked down Clark about 6 blocks to get away from all the Cubs congestion, and I contacted Uber from the App. However the auto-correct on my phone changed my location pick-up from Clark to Claremont. Even though I realized this right after I put it in, there was no way to correct it with Uber, and the driver went to Claremont, and eventually cancelled the trip. In the 15 minutes it took for all this to happen, there must have been about 30 cabs that drove by as my wife questioned why we are not taking one. I finally flagged a cab down and took it downtown to our hotel. To add insult to injury, Uber charged me a $5.00 cancellation charge. Uber should have better communication if a mistake is made. I have used Uber three times. Every time the person has shown up later than posted as they always get lost trying to find my location. If a person does not know how to follow directions why are they working for a taxi service? Yesterday, I was running late and decided to request a ride from Uber. Since the bus arrived before the person even found me, I deleted my Uber app on my iPhone and after that my phone died suddenly. Later that day I fond that Joanna(the Uber driver) had charged me $4.45 although I had not once seen her, talked to her, or rode in her car. When I tried to contact customer service, there was no answer. So I decided to call the person who charged me, Joanna. I am actually shocked at all the poor reviews about Uber. It is an alternative to a standard Taxi service, it's ride sharing, how perfect do you want it to be? I've been using it for over a year and I've been rarely disappointed. Yes, sometimes it is very hard to secure a uberx or taxi,and sometimes they cancel last minute. Oh well, if you have an EXTREMELY important event or flight to catch, maybe you should plan a little better. Uber always lets you know when there is surge pricing, and although the approach may be a little crooked, this encourages more uber drivers to get on the road! I recently had an issue where my driver turned on the meter before he picked me up and I was charged a considerable amount more than I expected. Good thing Uber shows you the map, so I simply emailed customer service about it. They responded within 30 minutes and refunded half of my trip. I truly think people are expecting a little too much from a ride sharing program. Their customer service is awesome and face it, when it does work, you are saving money. If you dont like the surge pricing, you have the option of not taking an uber and getting a regular cab, bus or train instead, its that simple! This service gave us a 5 minute wait time. The car eventually showed up 25 minutes later. The problem with this is that we had a flight to catch which we missed. While we could have ordered 30 minutes in advance, if the car had really shown up in 5 minutes, we wouldn't have been ready. Also since I already am writing a bad review: the car had a hole in the exhaust pipe and was making a louder than normal noise. It also had an alcohol smell in it like a bar. The driver was not drunk. He drove in the right most lane for maybe 3rd of the way. Rest of the time he drove in the middle lane. On the bright side though I did not feel unsafe while he was driving. Bottom line is that next time I have a plane to catch I will just order a taxi the day before to come at the time we need it to come. read more

Overall I love the idea of Uber! Its easy, convenient and safe to use! However, if you have a problem you cannot get help! We have an Uber for Business account. We have been unable to get our card updated for over a month. I have sent emails to their customer service team with no reply. There is not one phone # listed online for them. Uber is missing out on money simply because they wont communicate with people other then by putting in a support ticket. So if you have a problem with Uber, I suggest posting on Yelp or BBB since there is no other way to get their assistance. read more

My friend and I used Uber this w.e.. I do not have a smart phone and my friend has a Windows phone. We could not install the app. I texted the address and a black car showed up. To the way back, my friend texted the address specifying he did not want a black car, and a black car showed up. We spent $18 each way for 3 miles. I am writing to strongly object to no limit surge pricing. My college age daughter and her 3 friends took an Uber on New Years Eve which would normally be a $20 cab ride on a bad weather night and she and her friends were charged $120 which they agreed to out of desperation. Other companies in other industries do charge premiums on high demand days or for emergency maintenance calls but SIX times the normal rate is simply gouging. It is the kind of behavior that will lead to really bad PR and ultimately a public outcry for stronger regulation of this industry. I drive for uber and they really need to go up on the prices because I don't live in the city of Chicago and where I'm at it do not go into surge or have that many riders. Most of the riders I pick up do not go far. I'm driving far to pick them up but they only go as far. So I will make at least $2-4 and it takes almost an hour apart to make that. read more

You get to choice the levels of cost and comfort. I have done cabs on Uber but for a few dollars more I can be treated to a variety of luxury cars and extreme comfort. With every cab company that I've taken the cabbie always agrees to accept my credit card requirement when I get in and then seems pissed when I pay using the card. This entire process takes up time an often puts me in a foul mood to boot, but never again now that UBER is here to save the day. Just like a super hero, a "black car" with a truly trained professional Limo certified driver is just around the nearest corner ready to swoop in an save the day.
