WORST IDEA EVER. Where do I start? If only I could award 0 stars... It's a shame too because I had a positive experience with Uber 3 months ago for my sister's bachelorette party in Atlanta. Maybe they just don't service the suburbs the way they do the city? Either way, HONESTY is the key and apparently Uber just doesn't know that concept. It all started when I requested a ride to the city to see a comedy show. It kept saying our card was invalid, though I know that wasn't true because I checked the balance. Then, I tried to use Paypal and it said our account was "experiencing technical difficulties". Come on, seriously? I have no clue as to why it didn't want to work but in the end, I'm out a significant amount of money for a show that I could not attend because of Uber's shoddy business practices, which does not make me happy. I probably would have gotten more satisfaction from flushing that money down the toilet! As well as the $1 or so that was charged to my husband's account DESPITE the fact that the card was deemed invalid. That amount is nothing to bellyache over, obviously, but it's the principal of the matter. Oh, and did I mention that Uber customer service is absolute garbage? Might as well bang my head against the wall repeatedly, that might be more fun. All in all, Uber is a decent alternative to traditional taxi services if you need to get around the city but other than that, I would strongly advise against using it. And I still haven't even mentioned the surge charges! Being as everyone here in the South freaks out over a threat of "inclement winter weather", I can see how services like Uber would exploit that. It went from 1.5 times the surge charge to twice the surge charge in a matter of minutes! What in the actual heck?! And it still didn't even work! Uber came highly recommended, so I was excited to try it. On my first ride, the driver tried to take a bunch of shortcuts, which ultimately backfired and it took forever to get to the restaurant. Okay, mistakes happen. On the way back from the restaurant the new driver took us the direct route home and we made it in a third of the time. The first fare was $37. The second fare was $15...and then Uber upped it to $37 to match the first fare. So not cool. read more

We had a function at Atlantic Station, and all of our friends were raving about Uber. We decided to give them a try. Our driver NEVER showed up, sent us a text 30 minutes after he was supposed to have picked us up, saying that he could not find the address and that he was further out. Meanwhile there were 5 other Uber drivers picking up other customers from the same location. We ended up calling our regular non-Uber driver who came and got us. This review is for UBER EATS since they don't have uber eats on Yelp. Location is Atlanta, specifically midtown. I ordered two burgers and was quoted 25-37 minutes. 45 minutes goes by and the app is saying "food is being prepared". We called. We were told by the Uber rep that our courier "didn't feel like picking up the food" and so they cancelled. We were told to cancel the order and place another identical order and they would send another courier. We did this immediately. 20 minutes goes by and the app is still staying "food is being prepared". We call Uber again- they had a lengthy call with the restaurant and promised they would actually get someone to pick up our food this time. This is food that was prepared an hour and a half earlier. I'm sure that'll be really tasty by the time it gets here. The rep on our second call told us our food would be free since at the time we contacted her our food had not even been picked up and an hour and half had elapsed since placing an order that would supposedly be delivered in 25-37 minutes. It's been an hour and 45 minutes and the courier is still 15 minutes away....which in Uber eats time is probably like 3 hours. In total, our time to place an order and get food has taken 2 hours and 2 phone calls. Absolutely terrible. I don't even care about the food at this point. I could have gone to the grocery store, bought all of the ingredients, came home and cooked and ate by now :( read more

Another review for Uber Eats. We decided to give them another try. Big mistake. We ordered from a restaurant about 3 miles from our house. The driver arrived at our house first -- no food! He then headed out to the restaurant, which was clearly shown on the uber map and I told him where it was located. About 45 minutes later, I noticed he was in downtown Atlanta -- not anywhere close to the restaurant located in North Buckhead. At that point, we were starving and the driver cancelled the order. However, we were charged for the meal. I sent uber a message about half an hour ago. No response. I will follow up if we receive an appropriate response. I used UBER only a couple times, with a friend of mine and once after I personally downloaded the app on my phone. I went to Nashville for a girls weekend and my friend ended up getting sick, outside of the vehicle, and they ended up charging me $150.00 on top of my original $13 and some odd change for the trip and the 'mess' outside the UBER car. I tipped the driver an extra $20 for the inconvenience and I was very apologetic. After the adjustment on my bill, I contacted them and explained the situation and they refunded me the $20 I tipped, but it was still $130 charged on my card. There was no reason for that. I asked for pictures from the incident, which I received. When I asked for a receipt for what the "$150.00" was used for, I never got a response back nor did a get a copy of the receipt. So the entire night, with both trips to and from downtown Nashville, total was about $200.00. No reason that it should've cost me that much for a ride. I've heard things about UBER over charging and not being 'honest.' It's a great idea and concept... I have used Uber a few times in Philly, where I had a few hiccups with it. I used Uber for the first time in Atlanta on a Saturday night and was completely impressed! It took about 20 seconds for our driver to arrive after we requested a car via the app. There were several Uber cars in the area. Our driver was great! He offered us bottled water and mints and was very personable. Easy to pay and it seems that it is way cheaper than taking a cab (opposite than Philly), so it's a no-brainer for me. I tried Uber off of a recommendation from a friend who recently used it. I needed a cheap car to take me from the airport where I returned my rental car, to my bus terminal to catch my bus back home. Because I was in the airport and other taxi were charging airport rates and I figured uber would be a better deal. Long story short, I had some complications with using the app, how to request a cab, the location finder etc. I eventually figured it out and requested my cab. When the driver contacted me and I told him my destination he said he didn't go to that area and told me to put in a new request. This happened 3 times to me. Needless to say, after all this running around I missed my bus and was forced to pay over $400 for a flight home as opposed to the $60 bus ticket. To top it off idk if I can get a refund. Dear Uber: I FREAKIN LOVE YOU! I was reminded of how amazing and awesome Uber was the other day when I took a cab home from the airport after a business trip. Upon arriving at my destination, I handed the cab driver my card. (Literally, I got into the cab from a line stating "credit card riders" or something to that effect) He said, "Oh no...that's all you have?" and I said yes. He then mumbled under his breath for like 5 minutes before finally saying, ok fine give me the card. At this point we were all standing outside of the cab (I thought it was odd he got out before requesting payment, but whatever) which he had parked in the middle of the road. He got back in with my card and "processed" it for no joke 10 minutes. Then he got out and told me that they charge him extra for cards, but not to worry, he wouldn't charge me. (Fishing for tips much?) I tipped him well, but he was still unmoved. I had to flag him down when he tried to drive off with my bags inside. Oh yeah - and he upped the flat rate charge to take me home and was fairly rude. UBER IS NEVER LIKE THIS! I always have fast, reliable drivers. There are no awkward payment discussions. I dont understand some of the negative reviews on here. I am big fan of Uber and never take cabs anymore. You can never complain about a fare and the app lets you know with a lighting bold when Uber has a fare increase. You can also get a quote from the app and know what the ride is before you request a car. I have taken over 50 rides and maybe a handful have been a bad ride. Great thing about Uber is being able to rate the driver. On the bad rides I give a low rating and if a driver gets many low ratings they wont be able to drive for them anymore. Uber also rates its riders so best to be behave or they will remove your account. Cabs take the longest routes and you have to tip on top of the cost of the trip. try using a credit card in the cab and the driver said they only take cash. Uber also has flat rates to the airport from midtown, downtown, and buckhead so there is no surprise. In order for Uber to keep good drivers is to make sure you rate good drivers high and bad drivers low. i know you sometimes feel bad doing it, but it helps everyone who uses Uber. read more

I normally have had no problems with Uber, however, I was in Asheville, NC this past weekend and had a driver just leave us stranded two nights in a row. 1st night the driver (who had an Uber tag on the front of the car) looked at us, kept going. Within two minutes he drove back buy with a customer in the backseat and just stared at us and then drove off? The company then charges ME a $5.00 cancellation fee which I disputed. The next night my phone said "driver is 4 minutes away". He never came, never came, never came. We had a dinner reservation so I was forced to call a cab instead. That same night we had an Uber driver take us back to the hotel and he promised and offered himself to pick us up the next night at 5 o'clock for dinner reservations. Never showed, wouldn't answer his texts, nothing. This is the first time i've had problems like this with Uber and what stinks about it is you have no way AT ALL to get a customer service person on the phone. That in itself is concerning. What kind of company has no working customer service plan or person to help you? I will be using Lyft or a taxi cab from now on. read more

I used to be a loyal Uber user, but since my account was fraudulently used and I occurred over draft fees with my bank as someone used my account for rides in Hong Kong, I mean I live in Atlanta, even reported it right away, within minutes and received a reply over 5 days later is not what I call good service. I had to dispute the charges with my bank and had to wait 5 days in order to receive my refund, if I waited on Uber I would still be without money a week later. not once has anyone apologized except to say sorry for the late response, I had to do all the work and with no help from Uber. after going from using them over 10 trips a month to now deleting the app I would not, I repeat not use Uber ever again as they do not care about the safety or security of their users. read more

They have a major issue. I have received no less that 2 dozen calls an text from drivers. I have never called uber nor signed up but now I am getting called all the time at 3-4 in the morning. I would think when you sign up you should have a confirmation sent to the phone so this sort of mixup doesnt happen. I cant find any where on the uber site to contact them either. This stinks. I will start by saying that Uber is hands down the best riding service in Atlanta (Lyft being next) and the cab drivers definitely to know it! Every time I'm out on the weekends and tell a taxi that I have an Uber on the way they become IRATE. Obviously, this is because Uber is taking some of their clientele, but why? Uber is cheaper, much cheaper Uber works on a flat rate system that can ONLY be used by the GPS on their phone. This means you avoid sketchy cab drivers turning off the meter to overcharge you or purposely taking you on long ways to your destination in order to make your ride more expensive. Not only is the flat rate service great, but it's CHEAPER than the flat rate service of a taxi. I can get from Buckhead to Old Fourth Ward for around 10 dollars. Every. Single. Time. You are not expected or required to tip and when you do insist the drivers are shocked and extremely grateful! It's also nice that you NEVER need cash because when you sign up for Uber you put a card on your account and it's automatically charged after the ride. This means you don't need ANY kind of payment to take an Uber because everything's already on file. Uber takes care of their customers and frequently sends promotional e-mails including even cheaper fares than the already stellar deals and even send you free rides. For instance, this week I have 4 free rides to use until Friday ANYWHERE in Atlanta. Uber drivers are professional, qualified, and friendly The class of the drivers of Uber is far superior to taxi drivers. I've been using Uber for 1 year and have NEVER had a bad or rude driver. Whatever the filtering process is for potential Uber drivers, it's extremely well done. You can rate your driver If you have a bad experience or a rude driver (hasn't happened in over a year) you can rate them and automatically guarantee you will never receive them again as your driver. If they truly are awful and don't belong with Uber they will lose their job based on the ratings. This ensures that when they are on the clock they are always in their best form. The cars you ride in are BALLLLINNN No but seriously, any driver is required to have a car that's no older than 2006 and a four door. Usually, I ride UberX which is the least expensive of the options (oh yeah, you've got options) and the cars are still very well maintained and nice. If you want to spend a few more dollars you will receive a luxury black vehicle that's only requirement is to make you feel like you're using a limousine service. What's even crazier is that these extremely nice standard Ubers are STILL CHEAPER than a taxi. So, I could continue to go on but I'm starting to feel like an Uber spokesperson. I wrote this review because I feel that not everyone is aware of Uber and when I began reading the reviews that were rated low, it became clear to me that these were taxi drivers in Atlanta doing everything they could to make Uber sound bad (no surprise there!). I'm fed up with the antics of taxi drivers in Atlanta. After discovering Uber I have never chosen to take a taxi and I can say with 100% assurance I never will. If for some reason you have to take a cab I recommend giving your driver the directions yourself, asking if he takes cash BEFORE getting in the cab (Atlanta taxi drivers are required to have card machines but most of them will accept cash only), making SURE that the fare is turned on an running, and making sure that his passenger surcharge is the right amount. The passenger surcharge fee is based on how many people are in the car, which is always 2 dollars a person. I have had countless incidents where taxi drivers have tried to raise the surcharge as if I had more people in the car because they thought I wasn't aware of what the charge was for. Lastly, if you feel and know that you've been cheated by a taxi driver, DON'T give him the full amount he demands. Numerous times I have had taxi drivers try to over charge me. I simply hand them an amount I believe is fair, tell them that this is what they are getting, and walk away. Not one time have I had them call the cops and that's because they know I'm right. I've been cussed out on multiple occasions by taxi drivers who are angry at the world, but that's about the only action they'll take when you put your foot down for what you know is right. My husband and I ended up in Altanta under very difficult circumstances. I took a taxi from the airport to the Court House (I was told it was 10-15 miles). That ride cost me $70. I met David Thompson an Uber driver there. He was upset that I was taken advantage of and was absolutely incredible! He gave me his phone number and then after I called him he had to wait quite a while for us to finish our business, but he stayed and got us to the airport in time for our flight home. Not so fast Atlanta. Commuters beware. Uber in Atlanta is a bit tricky. My experience is that Uber drivers in Atlanta want you to come to them if they're maps are incorrect and they cannot find your exact location and the company will bill you for it. I contact Uber through their app and I wasn't allowed to changed the location. The driver ended up a block away. He called me to confirm my location and asked me to walk a block for the ride. He was too lazy to find the restaurant (which by the way is in the center of downtown and very visible). When I refused the ride, he told them he was at the exact location of where I was, waited five minutes and left. He did not tell them the whole story and they billed me for the ride. BE CAREFUL! I'm finding this service a bit tricky. Some of the drivers are lazy. read more
