DISAPPOINTED is an understatement. I had I plate full of rice with 2 extra small portions of chicken w/mixed veg. and half of that was onions. A rating of 1 is way to high. My brother told me about this place, so I tried it this evening. It's located in the Food Lion shopping center at the corner of Hwy. 66 and Mountain View Rd. When we entered, we were greeted with a friendly smile and hello. My wife ordered the Hibachi Steak ($6.95) and I ordered the Teriyaki Chicken ($5.95) Both came with carrots, zucchini and onions. And the steak also had mushrooms, and the chicken had green peppers. Soup or salad is also included with the meal. Usually when I go to a Japanese restaurant like this (where they don't cook in front of you), I do not order steak. It's usually a bad cut of meat, and it's tough. But not this place, it was tender and good! The teriyaki chicken was also outstanding. Vegetables were cooked just right also. The rice had corn in it (love that!), and it tasted very good. The smells coming from the grill were so good. It reminded me of the fancy (expensive!) Japanese restaurants in Winston-Salem. They also have outdoor seating, and specials on certain days. Monday is free ice tea. Tuesday is a free spring roll. Saturday is 15% off 11am-3pm For this type of Japanese restaurant, it was the best I've ever had! read more

Been going to this place for the past 6 years. Limited seating inside, so during lunch and diner rush times it might be best to go around those busy times. They added some outside seating area, perfect time to enjoy the cooler temps around autumn. Always pleasant staff and they are quick to take orders and before you know it they are bring out your food. Teriyaki chicken is the best! They also have awesome white sauce. Perfect place for a nice lunch/dinner if you are going to or coming back from hanging rock state park. read more

Dirty. Surly staff. Bad food. Flies buzzed around my head as I waited on my take-out order. I should have cancelled but was really craving hibachi and didn't want to drive to Winston. When I got home I found my salad was brown and inedible. Small portion of shrimp and steak was ok. Rice was crunchy in a bad way. I ate the meat and threw the rest away. Called the restaurant to alert them they were sending out bad salads. Wasn't looking for a refund (not worth the drive back) though an apology would have been nice. Got an argument instead. We like to call ahead for our takeout order. Food is very good, the price is reasonable, and the portions are large. We always order extra fried rice to make several meals out of our food. The food is fresh and made to order. There have been times during lunch and dinner where the tables are full, so it's nice to see them doing good business! Simply the worst Japanese cuisine that I have ever tasted. When I asked to see the manager Nge, he told the waitress he was busy cooking and wouldn't be coming out to talk to me. Salmon - small portion, high price, bones Rice - crunchy and undercooked (All three entrees had this problem) Shrimp Sauce - I am not even sure I would call it shrimp sauce. Aside from the horrible food, you can't talk to the cook or manager and even when the wait staff knows you are dissatisfied you get a whopping $4 dollar discount with all my food still left on my plate. The food here is fairly good but, but they have poor consistency in serving size. One day you get a plate full of food, the next it seems like half a portion. If you get there 30 minutes or less than they close, they refuse to let you sit in the dining room, telling you you can only get food to go. This is bad business in my opinion. But the kicker for this negative review was when my daughter was very sick and all she wanted was some soup. They refused to sell just soup unless we spent at least five dollars more. And he was rude about it also. I have never been anywhere that refused to sell anything off the menu because you were not spending enough. Service is TERRIBLE. Let me put it this way, I made a YELP account just to review this place. Every single table was dirty when we walked in, and only two tables were occupied with customers. After being seated we were asked what we wanted without being given menus. Our "lemon ice water" was water accompanied by a cup of artificial lemon juice. After the food was brought out, the waitress never returned to check if the meal was as we ordered. My water glass sat empty for the duration of our meal, and was never once refilled. I had to ask another employee to bring us boxes to go. Even these were filled with remnants of styrofoam, taking five minutes to pick out before our leftovers could be placed in. I have 6 years serving experience. There was NO excuse for the service we received. The restaurant was not busy nor were we demanding. I left 50 cents for the effort it took to hand us our plates. My boyfriend and I had lunch here. Our rice was way undercooked and disgusting. We politely brought this to our waitress's attention, and received nothing but nasty attitude and condescension. When paying, we also told the young man at the register, who shrugged his shoulders and said "ok". We will never eat here again. They were rude, hateful and refused to make our food edible. Don't waste your time or money on this substandard food nor unprofessional rude employees. Mistakes happen but when a restaurant refuses to correct a mistake and still expect me to pay I get angry. He took our drink order and then brought menus, but no drinks. We ordered our food a couple minutes later and still didn't receive our drinks.
