It was bad enough I had to cut back on dog walks (out Doodle was not happy with this). Reviewing the medical literature I found out there was a minimally invasive procedure for the treatment of my condition. After multiple phone calls to clinics offering dermal fillers (mostly for cosmetic procedures) I found the practice of Dr. Anna Sylwestrowicz, MD . The office was very accommodating with my unique inquiry and agreed to meet with me just to discuss my diagnosis and treatment plan. One of the most vital requirements for a good medical outcome is a solid 'Doctor-Patient' relationship that starts with an open and frank discussion. I found my conversation with Dr. Anna (as she prefers to be addressed) to be all a patient could ask for. We jointly came up with a plan, discussed the various dermal fillers on the market, her experience with their use, possible outcomes and hoped for outcomes. I agreed to the procedure. Three weeks before the start of my hike, Dr. Anna injected my left heel pad with dermal filler. The procedure itself was tolerable and I walk out of the office with an order to 'take it easy' with my walking. For the first 5-6 days I was sore at the injection site but that was too be expected. After a week, I restarted my daily dog walks (much to the pleasure of our Doodle) and gradually increased my mileage. On April 23rd, 2026 I found my self hiking south on the Appalachian Trail from the small village of Damascus, Virginia. I was planned on keeping my daily mileage under 20km while carrying 15kg of pack. At that point, my heel was pain free. I hiked for a month pain free. I ended this section of the Trail in the very tourist town of Gatlinburg, Tennessee. This was a distance of 400km-pain free! Considering the pain, I was in prior to the injection of dermal filler this was a remarkable medical outcome. I am very, very pleased. As for the future, there are 333km left for me to complete. I will be back to the Trail in September for finish that section. Thank you to Dr. Anna and her staff in joining me on this journey!

My aesthetician, Paulo, is charming company who is a perfectionist when it comes to skin care. The atmosphere is relaxing, friendly, and casual; the location at Cedar Hill and Hillside is conveniently located ....not downtown, but 5 minutes from my North Jubilee home. I would not consider going anywhere else! Keep up the excellent service; Emerald Day Spa is A real gem!

Not a good experience…read more I don't write a lot of reviews. I tend to write them when an experience is either really amazing and I want people to know, or it's really not good and I don't want people to have that experience. For context, I've had a lot of facials in my life-- too many to count. I'm new to Victoria and can't get to my longtime facialist on the mainland for at least a few months, so I decided to try to find someone good in Victoria. I thought to try Emerald Day Spa because of all the good reviews and awards. I specifically booked an extraction facial. When I was asked by Parisa, the facialist, if I had any concerns or things I wanted her to know, I said I was there for extractions, most importantly. I asked if she could turn on the light so I could show her specifically what I wanted her to pay attention to. She said no, that she would look at my face when I was on the treatment table. This struck me as odd, because I can't look at my own face when I'm on the table, and how can I be sure that she's seeing what I need her to see?? Next, after I'd changed, she took forever to come back in. I started calling out, "Hello! I'm ready!" but she did not return for at least five minutes. It was bizarre and stressful. Then she asked if I was comfortable. The towel I was lying on was really old and rough, and I asked if she could remove it. But instead of just taking it off, she left again for another five minutes! Once again, I called out, "Hello! Hello!!" She finally came back in and I said, "Wow, that was a long time just to take away a towel." Then, she didn't remove the towel and instead put down a sheet. This was okay, but to lose ten minutes of my hour and fifteen minutes while I was lying there, cold, was weird and unpleasant, to say the least. When she got to the extractions, I again said that I wanted to show her what really needed extracting, but since I had no mirror and I was now lying down, I couldn't be sure that I was pointing to the right things. She told me she saw what I was talking about: white heads on my nose, an enlarged pore that gets really clogged, and most importantly, a very large white head by my ear that needed to be punctured, drained, and extracted. I repeatedly pointed it out to her. She started the extractions with a small machine, and then said she was missing something and left again! This time leaving the door open!! OMG. Any relaxation I'd achieved was torpedoed as I heard the people in the hall walking by, talking, and I worried that someone else would come in. Back to the facial... Like I said, I've had countless facials, and I know what extractions feel like. She was NOT doing extractions. She continued moving the little machine around my face. I'm sure it was doing something, but it was not getting out whiteheads, blackheads, etc. Then she got to the area with the very large blemish. She futzed around a bit with the machine, and then said, "It's all cleaned out." Well, let me tell you, the big blemish is still there, as are the white heads on my nose and the clogged pore. It's like she did NO EXTRACTIONS AT ALL. No joke. Now I need to find another facialist who can actually do the extractions, or make the trek to the mainland. And I'm out $183 for something that did not do what it said it would. Perhaps there are other treatments that are good. I'm guessing that with all the rave reviews, other folks have had good experiences. But let me tell you, an extraction facial with Parisa is not why this place is winning awards.

I moved to Forks earlier this year and upon arrival found out there are no skin care specialists in…read moremy new town. I asked around to some locals and they ALL referred me to SkinCare Suites Spa and I'm so glad they did. As soon as I walked in the doors I was in love with the atmosphere of this spa. It is tranquil, relaxing and everything I want from a spa. They carry lots of retail skin and beauty products, including the full line of Bare Minerals so there are lots of items to shop for. The nail stations up front I think is a cute way to offer nail services without shutting you into a treatment room and the stations are far enough away from the treatment rooms to where conversions from them cannot interrupt a private service. I've not yet received any nail services, but it does seem like a lovely place for them. On the website Jodi was the only listed esthetician so I was shocked when I had Larissa on my first visit. I've now been to see Larissa three times and I'm thrilled to say I've found my new esthetician on the peninsula. Larissa is so fantastic, she literally leaves my skin glowing after each facial and honestly she gives my brows the best shape they've had in years. She also shapes my husbands brows and she is great at cleaning his up without making them look androgynous. She is friendly and gives great product recommendations and even gave me samples of products to try. I wasn't looking to add any products to my home routine but after trying some of their lines, I've added three Epionce products and I'm thrilled with them even three months down the line. During my first facial Larissa explained the Hydrafacial to me and I decided to do some more research prior to booking an appointment. I have dealt with adult acne for the past 10 years, I have hyperkeratinization and rosacea making my skin a challenge to deal with. After a few hours of internet research I called to book my first Hydrafacial. It was an incredible facial and so fast! Never with rosacea have I been able to walk directly out of a facial and have my skin be glowing. Usually it needs a few hours to calm down but I was not red or purple even, I just had beautiful, glowing skin. It is more expensive so I am having my alter my normal facial schedule from every 6 weeks to every 8, but my skin did so well with it that is the facial service I want each and every time. My only gripe with SkinCare Suites Spa is that the receptionists have never asked if I wanted to rebook a service. I always have to initiate my next appointment, which has to be the smallest gripe ever, but I want readers to know that I am not totally biased to this place. If you're thinking out coming in for anything, just give them a try. I even waited until after three appointments to review to ensure my initial thoughts were not just a fluke, this place really is as great as it seems.
