Very upsetting lunch at U Kozla. I had looked online to see what their daily menu was, and found it to be quite reasonably priced and having a nice variety of choices. When I arrived at the restaurant, I sat in the garden and had a glass of wine and a glass of icy cold tap water. I received the menu only to find that the daily menu posted online was not the same as the daily menu offered in the restaurant. Oh well. I ordered from the permanent menu. The garden was clean and nice, the service was quick and efficient. The food was decent, vegetables were fresh, chicken was overdone and dry, unfortunately, and hard to cut. The reason I am giving one star here is that the waiter refused to provide me an itemized list of the charges, and they didn't take credit cards, so there was no official receipt printed. I paid cash as this was the only option, and I was definitely overcharged based on the prices listed in the menu. The waiter also asked my for extra money for a tip. I don't speak Czech, and wasn't able to argue. I basically paid the sadly not unusual "foreigners tax" for my meal. I should've waited for my Czech husband to get out of work and went to dinner with him instead. No one ever gives me a hard time when I'm with him. I would've likely paid the same amount elsewhere for a meal for two people. Never again, U Kozla. read more
