    Pork knee!
    Karmen M.

I was fortunate enough to try what seems like a local favorite during my time in Prague. I walked in with my party (mind you, we were a pretty big party of about 12 people), and sure enough it was already pretty packed. We were about half an hour early for our reservation, and sure enough, we were told to come back when it was actually time for our reservation. Thankfully for us, there was a cafe/bar just a few doors down and we entertained ourselves by having of course, a pint! :) Beer really is cheaper than most other things you could get on the menu. The menu is quite extensive (full of Czech favorites) and you will be spoiled for choice as you try to determine what you would devour. They have a pretty good bread that they serve up while you figure out what you wanna eat too. Due to our large party, I was able to sample the pickle cheese thing (never figured out the name of it) and jellied pork. The cheese is AWESOME. A.W.E.S.O.M.E. Get it, you will not regret it! The jellied pork requires time for you to really be OK with it, so pass if you're not the type to like that kind of textures in your food. The flavor wasn't bad though, imo. I personally got the Roast Pork Knee for dinner and it was by far one of the highlights of my trip there (foodwise anyway). I really liked how well it was done, the skin was nice and crisp without making the meat underneath dry and flavorless. It was a very well-done piece of meat and definitely one you should not leave Prague without trying. You will quickly realize that meats in Czech republic are served with mustard and horseradish; surprisingly I really enjoy the pairing and gives a little kick to every bite of meat you have. Definitely try it if you haven't. I'm sure you won't regret it. The service was pretty good, but they do get busy. So, don't be shy to hail your waiter if you need something. Clearly, a local favorite and the crowd shows it.

    The ribs were absolutely tender.

The meal was really great. My girlfriend and me were so happy about the food. The service was also friendly.

Amazing place in the heart of Prague 6. Always love to get back when I am in Prague. They have the best beer among Pilsner Urquell tank restaurants. The kitchen is amazing too. Sometimes bit heavy, but that's what you expect in traditional Czech pub/restaurant. The services are friendly and fast. It hardly happens that you would wait for a beer :) There is a great atmosphere U Veverky, no mattering you are local, common guest, or tourist. If you are around, high recommendations! ...just don't forget to bring cash, no CC unfortunately.

    Nice draft beer

Good place for beer and food! Staff is nice, everything is delicious there, price is very reasonable, portion is huge! The restaurant is convenient which is very close to tram & train station.

If you are looking for a very lively place that seats about thirteen hundred guests per day and has twelve tanks of beer, and the beer hall vibe then this spot is most certainly for you. Close to the Old Town square it is not at all touristy, the service is good and the prices are very fair for what you get. K ordered the Goulash, and I had the Chicken Schnitzel along with a beetroot salad to share. The food was plentiful and very good, especially the goulash gravy which was a deep colour that had amazing flavour. The schnitzel was not as big as the plate, but I couldn't finish it. K had a glass of wine and I a beer for about $64 CDN, which is good in Prague. Our only quibble was that the beetroot salad turned into a cabbage salad with horseradish. It was also good, but not what we ordered. We would most certainly come back and endure the half hour wait to experience and enjoy what is a somewhat unique European offering.

It has a cafeteria look and feel to it as the space is long and slender with wooden tables lining the one side and a few tables lining the other. It is devoid of color and sparsely decorated so it adds to this depressing feeling. Our server was ambivalent toward us and didn't visit us after we got our food. We had to watch for him to run by to stop him for our bill. This didn't give very welcoming vibes. The food was not exceptional. It was good and filling but I could not wrap my head around what everyone raved about. Perhaps we went in with too high of expectations but I've checked it off the list and will opt for other places to try in the future.
