    English Menu for the tourists
    Kanchan B.

Thanks to other Yelpers for helping us find this place. Beautiful spacious room with a gorgeous ceiling- looked to be from turn of the century. The bathrooms were really nice too. It's not 5 stars as the smoking inside was a turn-off. But we got wonderful service and all wait staff spoke English and where great about explaining unfamiliar menu items. They were a bit slow with getting cutlery so we just grabbed the cup of cutlery from another table. We ordered chicken wings as starter and this came with carrots and cucumber (instead of celery). These chicken wings were delicious as was the dip that came with it. We also got wonderfully hearty rye bread with the pork crackle pate. I ordered the wild boar with rose hip sauce based on the waiter's recommendation and throughly enjoyed it. I had never eaten wild boar before and this fulfilled my secret desire to eat like Asterix and Obelix! So I also found it tasted gamey like goat and unctuous like duck. My dining companions orders goulash which they enjoyed. The meat was cooked perfectly and it was a rich sauce. The red onions provided some acidity and the potato dumplings were hearty and really stuck to your ribs. Another dining companion scarfed down his chicken schnitzel so all in all great food! I also really recommend getting the vanilla ice-cream for dessert - it's great quality I've cream and we were really amazed by unusual taste and puzzling to figure out what the tastes profiles we were encountering. Amazed to find it was pumpkin seed oil and caramel solids. Would totally recommend this place.

Yelp came through for us today as we were looking for a charming local and authentic restaurant to get good beer and food. We found it at the Deminka. Service was excellent and the waiter was friendly and recommended excellent food, drink and desserts. The price was so reasonable the bill had me questioning if the server missed some items. I would recommend this to anyone visiting and would gladly return.

The BEST goulash soup I ever had! Great service, delicious food, good location (1 block from I.P. Pavlova tram or metro stations

Best taps in Praha 2 and excellent food. The waiters were helpful and it had recently just had some Reno work done.

Great food and wine but very very smoky and hard to breathe and you stink after leaving.

If you are looking for a very lively place that seats about thirteen hundred guests per day and has twelve tanks of beer, and the beer hall vibe then this spot is most certainly for you. Close to the Old Town square it is not at all touristy, the service is good and the prices are very fair for what you get. K ordered the Goulash, and I had the Chicken Schnitzel along with a beetroot salad to share. The food was plentiful and very good, especially the goulash gravy which was a deep colour that had amazing flavour. The schnitzel was not as big as the plate, but I couldn't finish it. K had a glass of wine and I a beer for about $64 CDN, which is good in Prague. Our only quibble was that the beetroot salad turned into a cabbage salad with horseradish. It was also good, but not what we ordered. We would most certainly come back and endure the half hour wait to experience and enjoy what is a somewhat unique European offering.

Prague was a stop on my cross-European bike adventure this summer and I simply loved my stay here…read more In fact, the visit to this restaurant contributed immensely to my favorite review of this city: the food was amazing, the atmosphere great and the service was excellent. Having had just arrived in Prague earlier that day and having cycled 100+ kilometers, I was quite famished when I arrived. I hadn't made a reservation but being a singleton at an early evening hour, the staff found me a table quickly. I started by ordering an alcohol-free beer and then I perused the menu. Marek, the waiter, soon came to my aide and helped me pick out a hearty portion: dumplings, of course! For dessert, I also had another set of dumplings and I loved both dishes.

I was about to order a glass of wine when I saw the Pilsner Urquell in the three styles. Although the menu did not have the official name, I opted for The Cut (aka Šnyt), which is more foam than beer. For dinner, I went with the Veal & Cheese Rissole. The breading provided plenty of flavor to the veal & pork combo. The mashed potato had a very creamy texture. Unfortunately, the cucumber salad was the least favorite of the three. The shredded cucumber was akin to sauerkraut being drowned in water. I regretfully passed on the dessert. From my vantage point, I could not see anyone ordering dessert. Even more regrettable, before I left, I discovered the restroom was not well cleaned.
