There are not many food options in the Twain Harte area when we come to stay occasionally so we decided to drive a bit down the hill to this place as I was craving Mexican. Of course everything was still on lockdown with no indoor dining but it was a cute little place that i would totally eat at! One side was the U Kneada Burrito and the other separate side was U Kneada Pizza. Very unique combo for sure. We walked in and placed an order to go, very reasonably priced for tacos with chips and salsa! I must say that i thoroughly enjoyed my crispy taco. Update: I've eaten the Mexican food here several times now. We've had street tacos, big burrito and street burritos, nachos and chimichangas. All are absolutely delicious. My favorite by far is the chimichanga, the best meat in my opinion is the carne asada, al pastor, carnitas, then shredded beef. The chicken has been dry a few times unfortunately though so I avoid it. The serving sizes are very generous. The chimichanga is more than worth the money especially with beans and rice on the side. It always smells so good and looks so good I always forget to get a picture. Be sure to try the horchata too! Yum. The dough isn't the best...but I will say for the price they make it more than worth it. The lady who is usually in the pizza side makes it a work of art. The food here was great- definitely authentic, and a close option to Twain Harte which has only one "Mexican" restaurant. Two complaints are that none of the people in there, workers or patrons were wearing masks- it said take out only, yet there were two people sitting and eating there. Other complaint, the guy taking my phone order was gruff as heck and not even a little friendly. However, in person he was much nicer- thank goodness. If you want their real hot sauce, be prepared- it's really spicy, really. Their standard hot sauce is very good, mild but super flavorful. We had 4 a la carte burritos- one carnitas, super delicious and no fat! Two veggie, good even with the lettuce ;) And a chicken chipotle- not on the menu, but if you ask for it they will make it for you- hubs loved his. It's seems to be a family run business combined with u needs a burrito. Different review. Crust is made fresh with fine flour. (Good sign). Run thru sheeter and perforated. The sauce is the weak point. Laced with overpowering raw garlic from a jar. Topping are very understated. Pricing seems a bit high (20$+ for large). given the fact they beg for tip with a tip bucket as it's supposed be manditory. Tips are for good service. Not for mediocre uncooked food with less than 20 words spoken. Sorry that's the facts. Recommendation is if you live up the mountain and want not to cook and hanker for pizza. This is the 3rd option and u have to cook it still (or they charge extra for it). I like to support family operations when possible.
