Back then, I didn't bother shopping here because you had Eaton Centre across the street. The office building part wasn't even on my radar. It took being an undergraduate and spending a lot of time in the area for me to warm up to this place. I spent a lot of time at The World's Biggest Bookstore and all music stores on Yonge Street, along with some time at the arcade. They are all gone. Back then, the Atrium on Bay had an Olive Garden. So many breadsticks, and spaghetti with meatballs were consumed. Yep, that folded years after I had left living in the GTA. When I returned to reside in Markham for my second and current stint, I often had dinner at The Pickel Barrel with friends. I loved it. It's gone as well. See a pattern? Then, there was Spring Roll. Although my go-to location was across from where I worked at Yonge and Eglinton, there was one here. All Spring Roll locations have folded. It's sad that all these places that I enjoyed visiting and eating at are gone. However, I was pleased to return after a decade to the Atrium on Bay and I like what I saw. Red Lobster is there. I wanted to get some biscuits, but I had just had dinner. It smelled so good as I continued my walk. The food court is still there, but it's cheerful and vast. It wasn't busy at dinner time, but you can get your Popeyes chicken fix or hit My Sushi for your Japanese food cravings. I walked by Rexall, CIBC, and Kin Kin Bakery (seriously tough not buying stuff before going to a concert), before I got to the flagship Muji store. If you are a fan of Muji, you must visit this store to enjoy two floors of minimalistic, nondescript, functional, practical items. There are a number of vacant stores. It's not expected during this pandemic. I hope that more stores open up. There are a number of smaller businesses that I'd love to spend more time checking out. Photo Imaging Plus intrigued me. I wasn't expecting an assortment of Squishmallows there. I'll definitely be back to check them out as a fan. I hope to go back to check out the stores more thoroughly when I'm not cutting through it before attending a concert. I'd love to eat at Red Lobster. Markham lacks one, so why not come down here and toss my money at Muji? I'm glad that I dropped by to check out the Atrium these days while reminiscing about the past. (191)

I managed to fit in lunch, afternoon…read moretea, a walk around One's Better Living which has a lot of stuff to look through, and picked up groceries at Prosperity Supermarket. The food court has a few options although a lot of them have similar dishes and are really fighting to be the restaurant of choice with the low prices. There usually is enough seating so you don't have to wait, even during lunch. If you're sitting at two tables that are stuck together and aren't using one side, don't be surprised if someone asks if they can pull the table apart to sit next to you. There is a TV on each side of the food court depending on which way you're facing and it appears to always be set to Fairchild. The food court has notices that guests are restricted to a 60 minute sitting time. I've never been there that long so I'm not sure if it's enforced. I do always see maintenance wiping the tables and cleaning the trays so the tables are pretty comfortable. This little plaza really has everything you need!

Chartwell Shopping Centre has been around for years and years!…read more Great neighbourhood Asian Mall if you need to run some errands and want to do everything in one stop: - Supermarket - banks: BMO and CIBC - bakeries - bubble tea shop - travel agency - family doctor - vet and grooming - hair cut - restaurant: Dim Sum and Dinner - Food Court (one of the better one in the area) Ample parking if you are driving.... Especially on a hot summer afternoon, a lot of seniors are hanging around watching TV: CP 24, TSN and Chinese program... and enjoying the AC!

This restaurant is being replaced by another AYCE restaurant. As a family we later frequented the local favourite Smash Kitchen and Bar. They used to have a M&M Meat Shop in the plaza that has since closed down. There are a number of service-based businesses including York Region Community and Health services, the UPS Store, and Fabriclean Dry Cleaners. I have been eyeing the Silver Leaf Day Spa for some pampering, but have not yet tried this place. There is plenty of parking in this shopping centre, including towards the rear of the complex.

The only issue is with our Canadian weather, an open concept mall like this is tough during the colder months. Really quiet during the colder months and who really wants to hang outside for too long. Maybe it was the open spaces, the indoor-outdoor feel of the place, architectural features. Look it up... After exploring for a bit, we had lunch in the food court. With lots of choices, we had a Roast Beef meal and a Roast Pork meal from The Carvery. Both were very good, and at decent prices. Others decided on Fish Tacos from Hooky's, along with items from other vendors. We were all happy with our choices. After lunch, a couple from our group went to see Arcadia Earth, an artsy exhibit/show, while the rest of us wandered around, exploring The Well. Nice place. It's super convenient and can be a one stop shop for many. There's a food court with tons of options for food, library, hotel, convenience store, banks, pharmacy, gym, car rental etc that are located in this building. Everything I mentioned is on the main floor/street level except for the subway, gym, car rental and the pharmacy as those are all on the lower level. There's escalators and elevators that'll take you to the different floors. I'd recommend the North York Centre to anyone in the area.

York Lanes is a small shopping mall at York University. If you are living on campus and don't feel…read morelike heading off-campus, it's a decent walk over. It has been there for eons. It has changed quite a bit since I was an undergraduate student, but feels the same. Although shops have come and gone, the York University Bookstore remains a staple. It was unfortunately closed when I was there for CRAM learning sessions at night. I like that there is a decent Shoppers Drug Mart now. I often had to visit one off-campus to get munchies, cold medication, and frankly hang out because everything was closed after my night classes had ended. At 10:30 pm, Second Cup and a few eateries were still alive and kicking. After admiring all the York University-branded sweatshirts, t-shirts, water bottles, and more, I need to come back and get something. I don't have much gear as an alumna! There is a decent parking lot on Vanier Lane where you can park your car. It's $8 if you park after 6 pm on weeknights and is good until 6 am the following day. It's cheaper on weekend with flat rates. You pay at one of the most sophisticated parking machines I have ever used. It accepts coins, credit and debit cards, bank cards, and YU-Card if you are a student. Yes! I used my bank card and the transaction was seamless. There is a walkway between this parking lot and York Lanes. The parking lot ismonitored, which is positive and reassuring. I had no problems here, as I spent nearly four hours on campus. I will return to get my York U. gear. It felt the same being here, even with the change in stores and look. (123)
