They now have a pickleball court which was busy. Malls are changing with the times to include indoor exercise facilities and a range of food options, while focusing less on traditional retail. I'm not a mall person but this place had an overall vibe which I appreciated.

It's been many years since we've been in the Promenade, and it probably wouldn't be a surprise that we barely recognized it as a lot has changed. We stopped by in the early afternoon on a Friday. My sister and I met my cousin at Tim Hortons in the food court. While my cousin and I both enjoyed a beverage and a donut at Tim Hortons, my sister instead opted for Yogenfruz. My sister later had lunch at Sushi-Q while I chose Feta & Olives. We were surprised a number of the food vendors were closed on a weekday afternoon. We then stopped in Roots, Dollarama, and Olive Branch. There were certainly a variety of different vendors, and it was fun to learn there was now a pickleball place in the Promenade. The Promenade has a Guest Services team that staff the counter located at the Bathurst Street Main Entrance. The mall also offers free Wi-Fi, complimentary wheel chairs, access to SmarteCarte Self-Serve strollers, and family parking options at each of their main entrances with parking options for expectant mothers and parents with young children. The hours at the mall are Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 8 PM and Saturday through Sunday from 10 AM to 6 PM. There are holiday hours published for Black Friday, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day. The Promenade also has special events like free treats on Halloween (this Friday), the Haunted Carnevil from Halloween for three days, and an Autism fundraising night at the St. Louis Bar & Grill throughout half of October and November. I came to Yorkgate Mall two Saturdays ago to pick up dinner at China Wok Super Chinese Food. Due to…read morethe pandemic and my comfort level being in malls, I didn't walk the entire place. The mall is an older one. There is lots of construction happening outside, which can be a bit challenging when entering and exiting the parking lot. It was pretty busy traffic-wise along Finch Avenue West when I pulled in. This mall is at Jane and Finch. It has a bad rap for being a rough area. However, it felt pretty safe when I was here. Things seem to have changed. I entered from what I believe is one of the two mall entrances. This one was closest to Finch Avenue West. I walked up a flight of stairs to get to the food court. The chairs and tables have been removed, but the light coming through the glass was nice. Only Caribbean Cuisine and China Wok were open when I got there at 5:30 pm. The top floor across from the food court has Seneca College, Ziwa Cell Phone and Computers, and Shiv's Jewellery. When I entered the mall from the main level, Tim Hortons was buzzing with business. The York Woods public library is further down, but has been closed during this pandemic. This mall does have businesses that interest me. There's an LCBO, No Frills, Dollarama, Harvey's, and Bulk Food Mart. I'd like to return when I'm ready to shop and check them out. It's a good mall for my needs. If I were a local, I'd be content with the store selection at this mall. There was plenty of parking. (117)

This outlet usually has 30% off the regular price, which makes a huge difference for my skinny wallet! One of my favourite fall jackets had a large rip in the lining. I brought it in for repair and they didn't even ask for the receipt. I was given a repair ticket and informed it would take 6-8 weeks. It was a bit confusing though, with several calls for a return authorization number, in order to follow up. When I went to pick up the jacket, it took the staff a very long time to find it. Thankfully, my wife wrote my name, address, and telephone number on a luggage tag, and looped it around the inside hook. The staff said my name wasn't anywhere on the jacket, but they noticed the tag while searching. I was also looking for the McMurdo winter coat for many years, a very popular jacket, and finally gave up. I found a similar one, and it is very warm, especially for our recent -28 C weather! The rain jacket that I bought a few months ago also came in handy during a massive downpour. I noticed the rain repelled off nicely. The service is friendly, but I suggest coming on weekdays if possible.
