Did my lift here years ago, also this event happened years ago. (review is very late, but started…read morethinking as I saw ads for them on Facebook regularly, people need to be aware of their practice) apparently they didn't tighten the steering knuckle lower 2 bolts on my Tacoma, clearly before I left I saw a thread sticking out on the lower control arm bolts, didn't say anything as I'd thought they'd honor their work, and thought they possibly even messed up the threads on that bolt that was loose which is why it didn't go all the way in, (as a mechanic I'm not going to touch something I'm afraid will break which would turn to my fault, liability is pretty important in the automotive service industry) they reassured me before I left that everything was perfect even though the skid plate wasn't installed as well until I said something, then within less than 6000 miles down the road and within less than a 6 month period, lower control arm came loose and went straight to the floor, took it back to them with a tow truck and they charged me for the labor to replace a lifetime warranty part from rough country as well as a CV axle that got damage due to collateral damage from the bolt coming loose. Clearly they didn't tighten the bolt with their response as "we loctite everything" well loctite only goes a long way when the bolt is torqued with a torqued wrench. A real shop would've comp everything and own up to their mistake and repair it for free due to technician negligence. But that didn't happen, rather just down another couple hundred dollars, around $800-1,000 to fix their mistake. But I mean the lifetime part was free which was great, one company at least honored something. Never coming back here again, neither will ever be involved with this shop ever again. Still have my receipt and can easily warranty stuff yourself on rough country website. Wasn't going to argue with these guys in person as they're pretty intimidated and aggressive when you put them on the spot. So it's easier to result in online reviews and let people know their practice as they're also firm with whatever they say with no room for talk or solution unless I'm guessing legal action is taken or a harsh review is made. They honestly just hungry for money, made the victim an even bigger one.

It was time for my 60k maintenance on my car and I really needed to get it done. I honestly put it…read moreoff for a while because the estimated cost from the dealer was astronomical. I'm talking $800+ for the "recommended" service given my car's mileage. Things are already rough for us local folks... $800+ would have been impossible. I'm also not a "car guy", so there's that. Thankfully, my wife took her car to Car Geeks before. I remember her showing me the multipoint inspection report with photos, recommendations, and suggestions for which actions to prioritize. I appreciated that the Car Geeks team provided that. Making an appointment was pretty straightforward. I told them what I needed and they answered my questions (I was particularly concerned about cost). I showed up to my appointment as scheduled. They completed the multipoint inspection and went over the recommended actions (brake fluid flush). I also received the results from the inspection in a link via text message. Once I agreed to the additional service, I approved it on the web page. However, in order to get the work done, the team needed to remove the tire for access. I explained that, unfortunately, my wheel lock key had not been returned by the previous shop I went to. In fact, it was my second set that was not returned. The Car Geeks team reviewed options with me again. They asked if I wanted to wait until I got the new key, but I said that was unlikely and I've been wanting to just switch to regular lug nuts to prevent future headaches. No problem. They were able to get that done for me as well. The team also kept me updated regularly during the visit. By the time the work was done and paid for (definitely not $800+), I was both impressed and thankful for their clear communication and teamwork. Even though I'm not a car guy, I felt like I was in the driver's seat the whole time. I was very satisfied with the work and will return to Car Geeks for future work. Mahalo nui!

Servco recommended a brake flush and said it'd be $218. I told them I'd shop around instead. The same service was $99 at Car Geeks. They have a waiting room if you don't have a ride. Complimentary coffee and water, comfy chairs, and a TV. I'll be a frequent customer here for as long as they're open.

I can't understand why they choose to conduct business this way. Is everything a little bit cheaper…read morethan around the island? Yes, prices are definitely more affordable, which is what you should expect from an Armed Forces Exchange. But for some reason, they decided that the best way to serve the military community on Oahu is to make them line up first thing in the morning on a first come first serve basis for all auto services. Oil change, 4 new tires with balancing, safety inspection, transmission repair? Active Duty, Dependent, Handicapped Retired Vets: All the same line. I think these guys must have run rifle ranges and thought that making people wait for extended periods of time unnecessarily was so hilariously awesome, that they needed to extend it to life outside the service. And there's no line; it's a gaggle and just pray that everyone recognizes common decency demeanor of who was there first. Get there at 0701, forget about getting any services on that day. And don't think that being the first in line is going to get you anything other than 2.5 hours to put on tires, when every other shop does it in 30-45 mins. Why they can't adhere to the pretty well accepted automotive practice of making appointments, is completely beyond me. Also, on random days (like one of the ones that I chose to try and come down and hit the "get the tires I already paid for put on my truck lottery") they will just not open and put a sign on the door that says "Closed, Staff". So, the next time you need something done on your vehicle and you are an authorized patron, and you see that they're open until 5, and you call and they quote you a better price than everywhere else you have called, and that you can come down and pay, and then just come down another day "anytime after 0700", realize that THIS is why they have 2.5 Yelp Stars. Pay the extra 100 bucks- completely worth avoiding the headache that they will put you throug

The staff genuinely treats customers like family, they are honest, and never try to sell us unnecessary services. Since my spouse travels frequently for work, this is the only shop they trust to handle our car while they're away. Recently, I had an issue and was concerned about some noises coming from our vehicle. I left a voicemail, got a callback within an hour, and given our situation, they worked with us to come in to ensure everything was okay. But, just like a sickly child walking into the doctor's office looking perfectly healthy, our car didn't make the noise when it was checked, haha. The staff suggested recording the sound and bringing it back if it worsened over the weekend, as they are closed then. Also, when they don't have loaners available, they have a very reasonably priced partnership with Enterprise if a rental is needed. I'm truly grateful to everyone there for their caring and professional service. Before finding this gem, we had horror story after horror story trying to find a good shop for our vehicle. Highly recommend them here for any service!

First of all, I would like to say the ONLY reason I decided to go with Pearl City Auto Works was…read morebecause they had 5 star reviews. After my experience with them, they deserve a 1 star. If I could I would give them a 0. 2 and a half years ago, I took my car to Pearl City Auto Works for a brake job. It cost me almost $5k to do it. Now they told me I gotta spend another $2400 to fix the same problem. My other half and I talked business with the owner's daughter Shay Nakamura about the situation and asked certain questions and she couldn't give any feedback to the situation at hand. She tried to give me a discount, but I don't think it was enough, considering I know for a fact they are charging me 3-4x the actual cost for the parts and then will eventually get more money back because of the cores. I text the number they text me with explaining my situation and there were no response. 2 phone numbers they text me from I left a text message, no response. That right there shows me that that they have poor communication skills. Communication was done with text. To be honest, I prefer real conversation with a person/company. I believe that they either did a poor job 2 and a half years ago or the quality of parts they used suck!! I got ripped off the first time and they tried to do that again the second time around. NEVER again will I do business with them!!
