He measured the windows and told me he'd provide me with a quote the following day. I got the promised quote (very reasonable) the next day and decided to proceed with the project. The shades arrived within the time frame Rich gave me and when he had them, he called to schedule the installation. Rich and his coworker again arrived at the promised time and the install was so quick! I'm in love with my new shades. At a time where it's hard to get a contractor to just return a phone call, Rich and his company were a breath of fresh air from start to finish!

They don't make the shades anymore, and they sent me these AWFUL replacements that were like brown paper bags. I felt like I had dressed a beautiful bride in a garbage bag! Cut to five months later, after so much searching for drapery repair--everyone else said no--I finally found Yelena at Design and Thread. I sent her photos of the original drapes, and she said she could repair them. Not only did she repair them, her installer came and put them back up in under an hour, and then Yelena came herself to my home to make sure the cords were working and arrange the drapes so they looked BETTER THAN EVER. My windows are back in their original dress and I could not be more grateful to Yelena and her crew! She is a magician and an angel....and honestly so soulful too; she and her husband invited me into her home when I brought the drapes to be repaired, and I feel I have new friends. I admire her greatly! If you have big old historical windows--or any need for respectful, ingenious decor design in an historic district, look no further. Yelena is your woman. SO GRATEFUL! John is very responsive, knows his product, and was able to guide us to the best options for our needs and budget. Fast forward to 2021, we have completely renovated the house, and are in need of all new window treatments. We are working with an interior designer who has their own preferred blinds vendor - but after receiving their seemingly high quote, we reached out to John at Boston Blinds to see if he could do better. He had quote to me in less than 24 hours, and it was $1200 cheaper. The designer and their vendor have since reduced their price to match, and we will go with them in the interest of not making too many waves (as we have a few more months of working together on other interior design elements). That said, we are are very pleased with John's responsiveness and are confident in recommending Boston Blinds.

I decided that instead of looking at ugly, broken blinds I inherited with my condo, that I should…read moreinvest in something I want to look at. I got a few quotes from vendors I had reached out to on Yelp (thank goodness for Yelp) after first trying a personal referral from a friend that went poorly. I had two vendors come over and I like the brand of product that Paul brought for cellular shades, Comfortex. They had all sorts of beautiful colors and textures for the fabric cellular shades I had, and it was hard to choose! Another vendor I had come to my house did not have this brand, but had a brand that did not offer a fabric black-out cellular shade. I am really glad I had ABC Shades come over first so that I could see what was out there first. The shades have been installed and they are beautiful. Everything from start to finish was smooth and everything about the process was seamless. Having these new shades have really perked up the appearance of the 3 rooms I had them installed in. I knew they were not going to be cheap, but the fact is that these are custom-built for my windows, and I was able to select a lovely fabric. I also selected a higher end fabric so that I could get exactly what I want because I actually keep my shades closed almost 100% of the time, so I want to make sure I like looking at them. He came today (despite very bad weather) to install them. We love our new shades. Everything was very professionally installed, and he removed all the packaging neatly. We highly recommend Paul Conti and ABC Shades and Blinds. Good value for the money. We have the right shades on a large sliding door, windows which needed privacy with top down /bottom up option, and light filtering. We started out thinking we wanted electric but as we reviewed our needs with Paul, ended up deciding against it. After 18 years of loyal, but damp, service, we had to replace three large Hunter Douglas blinds in…read moreour bathroom. The design is a bit complicated as we like to keep the shades open at the top to see the sky in the morning. The Barrows team was fantastic in reviewing all the style and price options. Most importantly, they sent a measurement person who also brought a sample book, so that I could see the shade options and colors in the room. We are extremely happy with the final result.

This was my fourth time using Barrows for window treatment. Obviously I was pleased if I used…read moreBarrows for each place I lived. Never again. This time they badly mis-measured the windows in a bedroom. Because of that mistake, the window treatments were unusable and had to be re-done. For a few months, Barrows gave me an expected date of arrival, but the date kept being pushed out. Eventually, Barrows stopped up-dating me and I heard nothing. I began calling to try to get information. I thought I had been forgotten and my order lost. Every time I called, I got a different person. In all, I was passed around to five different people as I tried to get information. It took five months to get the window treatments and when I did get them, they were not the original fabric because that was no longer available. (Barrows did not notify me this was going to be the case.) In the past, the installers have been excellent. This time, the men who came to install, did not know what they were doing and I had to argue with them to place the window treatments so that the most light could be blocked. Barrows eventually offered me a small amount of money as compensation. Imagine my feelings when the window treatments I waited so long for finally arrived and were installed, to get a coupon from Barrows for $500 to be used upon initial consultation. That was like adding insult to injury. The delay in my receiving my order was not Barrows' fault. That was a supply chain problem that began to develop just at the time of the order. The original mis-measurement WAS Barrows' fault. Had the original measurement been done accurately, I would not have encountered the supply chain problem. I don't think Barrows is the company it once was and I would not use them again.
