Supermarkets in OR can sell beer, wine and hard cider but not liquor so at McIsaac's, it's truly one stop shopping! Lots of local ingredients. Meats from local farms, local cheese and produce. Even Mexican staples like tortillas, tamales, masa and chips from Juanitas. In the meats, deli and bread areas, there were lots of sparse shelves so merchandise moves quickly. Prices are definitely higher but for the convenience, it's totally worth it. Located just west of Apple Valley BBQ, next to the hardware store, they are open 7 days a week. It definitely serves the dual function as convenient store and small restaurant for the area. What's not to love! Everybody that we interacted with was really friendly, and due to the relatively small size of the building, we were able to get out rather quickly. It was a great little stop and one that we will likely be visiting again the next time we pass by!

Their today's special was a $5 burger (60c for cheese, jalapeño etc) came with fresh lettuce, tomato, onions and pickles. The patty has a smoky favor so I guess they were grilled on bbq. It was a healthy looking burger and great. Do not miss the peanut butter cheese mousse ($18/whole). They said they don't sell slices. I got it anyway but I'm glad I got the whole thing. But it's the customer service that really stands out. On my way to a pig roast, I went to Angel's Bajery downtown, who always has trays of the molasses pig cookies. Not this day! So I did a search for Mexican Markets which led me to La Michoacana, a bright yellow building further up in a neighborhood. I found bags of mixed pastries up on the top area, but no bags of just pig cookies. The bags were only $10 each, but I couldn't justify buying 6 bags just to get a few of the desired cookies. The young lady working that day said, "give me a minute." Then she came back with a bag of the cookies, after taking all the bags apart and rearranging the packages so that I could buy a half dozen cookies. What? Now that's service. So of course while I was there, I loaded up on pantry items, tortillas, bought the carnitas and some fresh tamales, plus the cookies. Her helpfulness resulted in me making a much larger purchase than intended. When I brought the tray to the party, everyone thought it was a genius idea - so cute, pig cookies at a pig roast - and after I told the story, everyone asked for the name and address so they could support this business. And I now support them frequently. 5 stars all the way!

Had a few breakfast sandwiches, all of which were tasty. Also got a few pastries - honeybuns were just ok, almond tart was great, and the berry danish was excellent. Kids played a few games and we had never seen a library kiosk that prints out little stories - neat! We hung out for over an hour and it had a cozy small town vibe where everyone knew each other. Staff were friendly and we'd definitely come back.
