The process with all the paperwork and signatures was very easy and relaxed. The couple has worked together for about 18 years and are some of the kindest people I've ever met. I expected to be stressed during my driving test, but instead I felt very calm. Both my brother and I passed with high scores, and all of my friends who have gone here say their experience was amazing as well. Unlike some of the negative DPS experiences I've heard about, Double G is friendlier, less stressful, and even cheaper. Definitely worth it! They truly make you feel like family :)

My experience with the Helotes Driving School, especially with the instructor, Mr. Santos, was rewarding. Mr. Santos is a gifted teacher who truly loves his vocation. When we were on the road, Mr. Santos was vigilant at all times so that I felt safe even when making those inevitable learning mistakes. He devoted extra time to techniques to help me overcome some physical impediments. I have seen him teach other students--both adult and teen. He truly believes in his students and has a positive "You Can Do It!" attitude. It is because of Mr. Santos that I can drive independently now, and I recommend him highly!

The actual school was good and the classes began and ended timely…read more The curriculum is confusing. It states that once the teen obtains a driving a permit, they are then able to drive. This is not so true. The teens obtain their permits within the first week of the 3 week course. There after, there is only class time and they teens are not allowed to drive during this time. The driving is scheduled after the three week class course is over. This means, the driving school can take months to complete. To be able to set up any driving times, you have to pay a fee on top of the already paid for class time, even if you paid for class and drive. The drive times are scheduled on line on Monday's and it's first come first serve without a lot of offered times. The teen needs to complete 7 drive times to complete the course and drive days are not allowed back to back. Oh, and don't get your drive time incorrect because then there is yet another $35 fee charged if you happen to miss the time. The owner, or main instructor of this place is not so nice either. When I called to inquire about a drive time, he was very rude and extremely defensive. He did not even answer the call to the business in a professional way. I have not had a good experience with this place and would not recommend them to any other teen needing to complete their driver's course.

I've had one kiddo on the campus from age 4 until now (age 10), and my littlest one started this last spring (age 4). HCMS has a very strong familial environment that I honestly don't think I could find elsewhere. I know that they are happy and safe and learning in an environment that teaches more than just standard curriculum, but also an entire method of learning that never ceases to astound me. There are so many positive attributes I could list, but it's even easier to just go take a tour of the campus. Plus there is no description of the atmosphere that I could ever come up with to do the school justice. But If I had to pick just one thing about HCMS to relate to other parents who are looking for the right fit for their kids, it is that you are always welcome on campus. Seriously, like always. That was a big deal for an overbearing mother who wasn't ready to let go :) Instead of crying in the parking lot I was welcomed to cry on campus, in the office, in the classroom, heck I've shed a few tears in their goat habitat. You are welcome to observe the classes (all levels), and not only are you allowed to hang out but it's encouraged. Okay crap just one more thing that I want to mention is that the Montessori Method is really into having the students help each other, it's structured so that the older ones even give lessons to the younger ones. It's my impression that most of the parents of the school did not receive Montessori education themselves, but you would never know it. There is a great sense of comradery between the parents with each other as well as with the the eclectic group of teachers and staff. Many of the teachers and staff have students at the school as well. Shouldn't that be a pretty good indicator of a great place to drop your kids off every day? The teachers are all amazing. Each classroom has a certified Montessori teacher to guide the children to find their love of learning and direct them through the curriculum at their own paces. The classrooms encourage collaboration between the students of different levels and the respect the teachers have for the children shows them how to treat each other. I am constantly impressed by all the students here.

They are focused on opening up a charter elementary school more than correcting the issues in the daycare/preschool. We offered a lot of grace to this school as we wanted it to work out and liked the idea of Christian foundation for our child. They also do not have cameras in the classrooms to validate/review any issues- so you really need to trust your gut and advocate for your child. The only light of hope at this school is Ms. Sharon; she is wonderful and is the main reason we did not speak up sooner.

They make you feel right at home from the second you walk through the door. Their communication with parents is superb. They'll call me to let me know of incidents that may happen and what they've done to take care of your child. Every day we go home with a report card that has your child's behavior, eating habits, how long they slept during nap, etc. Throughout the summer they have splash day every Wednesday where the children play outside in the water. Every week they have a different theme they focus on and fun activities to celebrate. During the holidays they put on a fantastic Christmas program that every classroom participates in. The staff is wonderful and communicating and always keeping us posted and most importantly my daughters both love it there and all of their teachers. It's a wonderful environment for sure.

The kids learn through play...how human beings were designed to learn. When people see how WELL their kids learn and how HAPPY they are learning, it's not uncommon for people to get a strange sensation of both happiness and sadness. I believe that's because we intuitively understand that was the educational experience WE were supposed to have as kids but never did. Oh, and the kids are actually sad when they can't go to school and learn new things. That's exactly the kind of education system our nation so desperately needs.

Felt our child was not safe…read more Our child attenteded the Farmhouse program (3-5 years old) in January 2022 and we withdrew him about 4 weeks into the program. The issue that made us withdraw our child had to do with an inclement weather situation. At the time, the farmhouse program was very fluid between indoor and outdoor activities, with the child being able to decide what he/she wanted to do. The problem arose when inclement weather struck combined with a minor COVID outbreak. 1. COVID Policy: If there was a COVID case, the policy was to close the indoor spaces and have the kids be outside only due to not having enough space to safely accommodate all 37 students - this was perfectly acceptable 2. The Inclement Weather: When inclement weather struck (high of 34 degrees), the Farmhouse program remained open and we were given instructions to bundle our kids so they could handle being outdoors for the entire duration of the classtime. We did not feel comfortable leaving our child out in near freezing weather for three hours straight 3. What Puzzled Us The most: our understanding was that all the other programs (Kinder-8th) - which had enough space to safely accommodate the children indoors - were going to be entirely indoors due to the inclement weather. It was only the Farmhouse Program which would be outdoors, and to reiterate, it would be outdoors for the entire three hours of the program We  felt that it would be inhumane of us to send our child out in the cold when we ourselves wouldn't be out there, so we kept our child home during those days of inclement weather. However, as we thought about it more, we realized it would have been perfectly acceptable of the school to ask parents to keep their children those days due to the unfortunate timing of events with the indoor space issues they had and the COVID outbreak. But to make the decision to keep the school open and feel comfortable having pre-school age children in near freezing weather for three hours straight raised an immediate red flag as to other decisions that might be made in the future. There were other smaller red flags with decisions like these, but this one made it very clear we needed to withdraw our child. There were absolutely good things about the program itself that we liked and it is hard to write a review like this given that the program itself seemed to have merit over a traditional school setting. We also intentionally waited 6 months after the incident to write the review so as not to write out of emotion. We hope this review helps others and also would be ecstatic to find out that those policies/decisions have changed.

This turned out to be a blessing as our child's special education teacher is AMAZING and highly qualified. Apparently, the staff at this school do not all have special education degrees. They had no business teaching my child in the first place. And the headmaster's approach is a red flag.

The staff is incredibly kind, honest, flexible, and consistently supportive. They meet children where they are without judgment or pressure, and they create an environment that fosters both emotional and academic growth. For our child, that made all the difference. She finally felt safe, seen, and capable of thriving. What stood out most was how the school didn't try to "fix" anything, they accepted her and built around their strengths while gently guiding them through challenges. Their patience and communication with us as parents were outstanding. We felt like true partners in their education. Clowvazar Academy deserves all the praise.
