Txuleta was our last tasting in San Sebastián and it was a good one. We luckily got one of the few tables inside where they prepare the Pintxos, rather than the sit down restaurant. We sampled four things here but got the impression the entire menu would be excellent.
Anchovies with roasted garlic in olive oil. These are not the things of dreaded American pizza fame, but if you are eating in this part of the world, you probably know that already. Beautifully filleted soaking up the flavors of olive oil and fresh roasted garlic, I would definitely get this here, even though you are probably coming here for steak.
Idi-Burgers - well that great flavorful steak you are coming here for, they have to trim it, and who wants those tasty bits to go to waste. So get some of these sliders made with the same great beef. Packs a punch. Nicely paired with a truffle aioli and caramelized onion on the bun. With some fries.
Red Piquillo Pepper stuffed with Crab - this was another great dish a Smokey red piquillo pepper stuffed with creamy spider crab mixed with bechamel cream sauce. Topped nicely with a seafood bisque to add even more richness.
Steak Skewers - Well if you just want a taste of what Txuleta steak is all about this little skewer was nice and medium rare with 3 little bites per skewer. If you aren't going all in on an entire steak while in San Sebastián, for sure nibble on these. Although I recommend doing both while you are in town. read more
