We visited Txakoli Simón for a special anniversary meal, drawn in by all the rave reviews. The food was good--definitely enjoyable--but not quite the mind-blowing experience we were expecting based on the hype. We were seated upstairs in the nicer part of the restaurant, which initially felt perfect for a romantic evening.
Unfortunately, the ambiance quickly changed. A large family with several young children was seated next to us, and the kids began running around the restaurant as if it were a playground. Neither the parents nor the staff intervened, which really disrupted what should have been a special night. What started as a romantic dinner ended up feeling more like a chaotic bar meal.
