In 1992 Walter and Judy Haig took a chance on creating a vineyard on…read more Lake Roosevelt , Washington. It turned out to be a perfect location to grow grapes . They only use grapes from their estate vineyard and they don't grow white wine grapes, only red (which is fine by me). In July of 2005 the winery opened up a small tasting room at the production facility in Wilbur, Wa. They renovated an old service station in 2001, the winery has since expanded with a new barrel aging building and 10,000 square foot production facility. The tasting room is open Fridays and Saturdays 11am to 4pm Memorial Day to Labor Day. In April of 2009, Whitestone Winery opened up a brand new tasting room in downtown Spokane, WA. The new tasting room allows them to showcase their wines and their passion for winemaking in a downtown urban location. The Spokane Tasting room is open year round Thursday, Friday, and Saturday Noon to 6pm. I loved the winery itself, but don't join the wine club if you are visiting out of town! I visited…read morethe winery on July 1, 2018. I enjoyed their wines, so joined one of their wine clubs. The cost was $60, which I paid upfront, and was told the wine delivery would be sent that week and would arrive in California in less than a week. A week has passed.....no wine was delivered. The worst part is that I have not been able to reach the winery after calling 3 different phone numbers. I've left many messages over a 4 day period, and not a single person has called back. THE PHONE NUMBER ON THE RECEIPT WAS AN INVALID NUMBER WHICH WAS NOT RELATED TO THE WINERY. An unknown person was nice enough to text me back and give me two other phone numbers to try. I have also called the phone number that I found on the winery's website. At this point, I just want to cancel my membership and be reinbursed for my membership fees! Making good wine is important, but being a responsible business owner and marketing your product fairly to your paid customers is equally important!

We stopped at Latah Creek while visiting Spokane Valley. It is a lovely location with great seating…read moreand a wonderful ambience. We did a wine tasting of the standard six pre-selected "The Pour by Natalie Tasting" and then a "your choice" tasting. My taste buds were blown away! I have NEVER tasted a better Moscato! The Orange Moscato is knock your socks off amazing! The Sweet Riesling and Huckleberry d'Latah were both incredible, as well. I don't usually like Pinot Grigio, but this one was out of this world! The wines were so good, we came back the next day (before my son's wedding) and brought friends and family with us. We ordered wine to be shipped to Texas because it is THAT good AND the prices are amazing! With an average price of about $17/bottle, you just can't beat that! It is worth the cost of shipping! The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. For a small fee, we had a custom label created for our son and his new bride to commemorate their wedding day! When we visit family, we will be back. In the meantime, I will be placing orders to be shipped to Texas. This is a can't-miss visit if you like wine and you're in Spokane Valley! I know I said amazing about a half-dozen times, but it is the perfect description!

Natalie (daughter of the family who started the winery in 1983), did a stellar job giving us a tour…read moreof the winery and the winemaking process. We ended up trying several bottles including one of my new favorites, Huckleberry which is 93% Riesling, and not overly sweet. I would highly recommend this as one of your stops when you do the wine tour in Spokane.
