I'd been a fan of Two Sisters Shipping, having mailed items with no problem domestically and to Canada. Thus, I did not question using them to ship a small package to Great Britain. It turned into a debacle. I've spent so much time & energy on this failure, I barely want to take the time to write this review, much less offer a blow-by-blow of their incompetence, dysfunction, and-- what I can only conclude is-- greed. But I will in case I can help spare another person the same inconvenience, upset, and lost money. Two Sisters took my $75 to ship a small shoe-box-sized package to the UK, which was being sent to a very sick friend (irrelevant except for making the failed result all the more distressing). I acknowledge they warned me that shipping to the UK 'takes longer than it used to', and 'can be a bit wonky'. But the staff person circled the tracking number on the receipt and politely wished me a good day. The long & short of it is that I thought the package was taking a long time to be delivered and the tracking number wasn't working, so I called twice to check on the status, only to be told, "Yes, it takes time," and the second time-- "sorry, we have nothing to do with it once it leaves the US." Only then did I go on a more in-depth personal detective mission and learn the package had arrived in the UK, was never delivered, and was ultimately "returned to sender" after exceeding the hold time. Finally, weeks later, neither myself nor Two Sisters (reportedly) have received it, and there is no means of tracking, so the package is missing. In the end, Two Sisters told me I'd been warned UK delivery was "unreliable," which they certainly DID NOT. The value of that gift was more than $150, and I would not have risked that or-- more key-- the carefully curated collection of items, plus $75 fee for something "unreliable." However, wonky is more benign-sounding, so did not deter me. Should I have asked what that meant? In hindsight, obviously. BUT WHEN I TRUST A BUSINESS **I count on them to be honest and not take my money for a service they are not confident they can fulfill.** And really, I'd not heard that there were problems shipping to Great Britain (as they made it sound was the case in the end!). I learned after the fact that the British Postal Service only attempts delivery once, whereas we are accustomed to the USPS attempting 3x. (Thanks USPS!) Two Sisters tried lamely to offer that as an explanation-- but, if so, and they knew that-- shouldn't they have told me that at the offset? I don't know if that would have changed things, but it might have. I have a friend traveling to London this Fall who could've hand-delivered the parcel, but I was trying to send some cheer in the period between visitors. Two Sisters refused to refund me ANY money, saying it had been too long since the ship date! Their apology too was that type that does not say they are sorry for their mistakes or lack of professional expertise, rather they said, essentially 'I'm sorry that didn't work out.' I am just heartbroken that my card, heartfelt books, trinkets, and custom-ordered t-shirt are now MIA, and my friend without a hoped-for moment of respite. Thankfully, there is a reliable shipping alternative. The Parcel Center, of East Lyme, which is conveniently located at Flanders Four Corners near CVS/ Walgreens/ ELHS/ The Shack, and offers an even broader range of services. They are priced similarly and have never failed me. I had first tried Two Sisters only because it was closer to work. I wish I'd stuck with my own local business. read more

When dropping off a prepaid, already packaged DHL shipment the staff attempted to charge me $2 for a receipt stating that they had accepted the package on DHL's behalf. They made an excuse about the $2 covering the printing of a label and taping up of the box, but when I pointed out that I had already done all of that they admitted it was just a $2 charge for 6 inches of receipt paper. There is no way to prove that you gave your package to Two Sisters shipping WITHOUT this receipt, so unless you want to risk your package "disappearing" before DHL picks it up with zero evidence on your side, they will gouge you for $2 despite you having already prepaid for the label. When I pushed back the staff members apologized, said it was not their decision and voided the charge. I will say that both staff members were very polite, gave me the owners contact info without being asked and seemed uncomfortable having to defend a charge that was clearly an attempted cash grab. I will also be contacting DHL about this to let them know that their "shipping partner" is attempting to make additional funds by charging for proof of package drop off, despite DHL saying that the drop off is free with prepaid labels. read more

I was looking for a FedEx shipping location in Groton, Connecticut, on the last day of my week-long visit back home in southeastern Connecticut. First I went to two of the locations listed online. The first was now an empty storefront. The second, at Walgreens, was only a dropoff. The man there suggested Two Sisters Shipping (Groton location), which turned out to be located in the same rundown little plaza as the first (closed) FedEx location. I had packed all the things I wanted to ship to myself back in Georgia in a bag--including two of my favorite pieces of clothing and a children's book I had bought as a souvenir in downtown Mystic. I intended to pack them in a FedEx box for shipping. Two Sisters Shipping didn't have FedEx boxes, so the employee who helped me told me to leave my things with him to pack and ship, which I did. I provided the shipping address--my home address in Brookhaven, Georgia. I paid, took the shipping receipt, and left the shop. I waited all the next week for my shipment to arrive, tracking it daily through FedEx. It arrived the day it was supposed to. But, as it turned out, Two Sisters had shipped it to the wrong address! FedEx showed a "proof of delivery" photo, but it revealed that the box was not delivered to me or anywhere in my apartment complex, confirmed by staff in our leasing office where other FedEx packages are and were delivered. Two Sisters had sent my package to an apartment complex down the road from where I live. I found out they had made this error when I contacted FedEx and then called Two Sisters. I went to the leasing office of the complex where the package was delivered, and they okay-ed me to look for it at the building with the incorrect address. There was no box in sight. I went home and made a note--including my contact information and the FedEx "proof of delivery" photo--and returned to the building. I spoke with a man and woman who lived on the second floor, and both told me they had seen the box after it was delivered the day before. They confirmed that the photo was accurate; the box had been there. I left notes on the doors of the adjacent apartments, thinking one of the tenants had taken in the box and would contact me after reading my note. No one ever contacted me. I had no choice but to conclude the box was stolen. I contacted Two Sisters Shipping once again. They were apologetic, and even refunded the cost of shipping plus $100-the "basic" coverage FedEx provides for packages on which a customer hasn't purchased insurance. (I had not purchased insurance because, well, I've always had positive experiences with FedEx and saw no reason to doubt that this experience also would be positive. Silly me!) Two Sisters said they would be in touch with FedEx and were "sure" they would make good on the balance of the inventory I provided to them--the cost of each of the items I had shipped, totaling $307. Imagine my surprise when I spoke a few days later with one of the Two Sisters owners! She told me that the $100 and the $27 shipping charge they had reimbursed would be ALL they were going to do because it was all that FedEx required them to do. I was incredulous! After all the extra effort I had made to recover my package that they sent to the wrong address, where it was then stolen, they had done all they "had to" do. The owner asked, "Ever hear of human error?" I responded, "Ever hear of taking responsibility? How about customer service?" I also asked her, "Ever hear of YELP?" I expect this owner will write a nasty response to this post, and I suppose that's to be expected after already shifting responsibility for their error to me (the mis-directed shipment and theft were now "my" fault for not getting insurance). Moral of the story: If you are visting Groton, Connecticut, and need to send a FedEx package with your favorite clothing items and souvenirs back home, do yourself a favor and drive across the Gold Star Memorial Bridge to New London or Waterford. Go there, or to another nearby town, to an actual FedEx shipping facility. DO NOT trust Two Sisters Shipping to do the job. Not unless you don't care if their "human error" is going to be blamed on you and cost you both money and a whole lot of aggravation. read more

We needed to ship an unusual item and chose Two Sisters based on glowing reviews and it being a small local business. On December 6, 2024, I helped an older relative bring a bulky item to Two Sisters to have it packaged up and shipped to the other side of the country. We were advised that it would take a few days to palletize it and get it on its way. We were told that an email with tracking information would be sent asap. We paid for the services and left the store believing that the item was in good hands and were glad we chose this small local business. Today, December 18, 2024, I learned that my relative never got a tracking email. I checked the spam folder and it wasn't there either. I called the Groton store and advised that tracking information was never received and that the spam folder was checked and asked for the tracking email to be resent. I explained to an employee named Ray that all I had was a receipt for packing materials & shipping as the item needed to be palletized. He put me on hold for a few minutes and came back on to say that it would take about an hour to get the tracking information emailed again. I asked if it could be done while I was on the phone to make sure it was received - he said no. I asked to speak to a manager - he said he was the manager. I asked him if he could at least tell me what day it was shipped out. He said he didn't have access to that information. I asked if I could speak to someone who did have access to the shipping information - he said no. And then he hung up on me. I called back and Ray answered the phone again. I asked to speak to a manager that wasn't Ray - he said no - and hung up on me a second time. My older relative and I immediately got into the car and drove down to the Groton store. There were three employees working each helping a customer. We waited and, just our luck, Ray finished with his customer first. He identified himself as Ray and I asked him why he just hung up on me twice. He said that I was rude to him. I said that I asked him a few questions (shown above) and never said anything rude to him. He kept insisting that I was indeed rude to him and I knew better than to engage any further - the other customers were both staring at us and I didn't want to escalate the interaction. The other male employee jumped into the conversation and tried to explain what Ray meant - I ignored this employee. I asked if the owners were working in the Jewett City store today and was told "Yes - but they likely wouldn't be there when you get there.". As I held the door open for my relative, Ray's last words were to me were a sarcastic "Enjoy the drive." The email with tracking information was finally received from Luke who apologized for "the delay in providing you with the tracking information". He further wrote - "Please note that the shipment was delivered on December 16th to the address provided.". The shipment was not delivered on December 16th - and per the tracking information that Luke just provided, the shipment wouldn't be delivered until Thursday, December 19th. As of the posting of this review, my relative has yet to receive a response explaining the discrepancy between the two delivery dates. Our initial thoughts on using Two Sisters for further shipping needs has changed. This shipment cost nearly $800 and we were happy to Shop Small/Shop Local. After the initial contact with the company, all other interactions have been poor. Based on the lack of follow-through and professionalism, I cannot foresee using Two Sisters in the future and suggest others be wary - if this is how they handle an $800 shipment, I would wonder how less expensive packages are handled. read more

I had a package that I needed to drop off with FED EX. The package was all set with appropriate label and all paid for. However, for me to simply drop it off into the 2 Sisters FED EX receptacle, I was told that I had to pay them $1.00. $1.00 for what?!!!! I did all the work to prepare the package, I drop it off into their FEDEX receptacle, FEX EX comes to pick it up...etc. What is it exactly that 2 Sisters does with the package that requires a $1.00 charge?!!!! The answer is NOTHING!!! Thankfully, I looked up other receptacles in Groton on the FED EX website and was able to mail it without said $1.00 charge. This is, simply put, an obvious example of outright greed on the part of 2 Sisters!!! read more

i was sent to this place by ipostal 1 .after buying a post box i called to conferm my purchase , after 3-4 calls they said they are busy and they were paid only $4 per month by ipostal1 so im not thier no.1 priority (lol) When ever i had to pickup mail they made me pay $2 evry time which i paid willingly (though was unresonable) as i wanted them not to feel they were getting only $4 a month from me. after 2 yrs working with them one day i went to pick up my international mail which they could not find. 1 week later it was told she tore and threw it??? the idea of having a mail box is to have your mails secure !!?? maybe i forgot to insure my private mail box?? had to pay extra for that ? lol was told there were some chocolates inside and dint seem like a important mail maybe i did not recieve the main mail yet??? i dont even know what that means? its a PRIVATE mail box she was not SUPPOSE to know whats inside.... anyways i removed my mailbox from there for good. pls be careful with your dealing there. read more

I had used Two Sisters three or four times with no trouble and then they made an honest mistake. That's fine. We all make those. The issue is that they refused the take responsibility for it. They insisted there was no negligence on their part, and left me out to dry with the bill for a damaged item. I left my package with a young man and specifically asked him to pad the wood from the metal part to avoid scratches. He later that week passed my item along to a lady who packaged it. She said he gave her no instructions on how to pack it, so she put no padding between the parts at all. It seems that padding would be common sense to most professionals. It arrived to my client damaged. The young man then told his boss that I didn't tell him to put any padding. He either forgot or lied. I understand making a claim with the carrier. I've been there. Carriers are sometimes rough, but the outside of the package was unmarred and intact. I have photos from the client. The damage happened because the parts were poorly packed and spent the trip rubbing back and forth over each other. It was not the carrier's fault. It was the packer's fault. I trusted them to pack it right and they didn't. I respectfully brought my issue to their attention in the store. I was never rude. They gave me the owners' email. I respectfully pleaded my case with the owner by email, but she insisted that her packer did a good job, despite never seeing it. I don't doubt that she does good most of the time, but this time she clearly didn't. And they should take responsibility for that. Not the carrier. What can I say? I tried to be fair, polite, and reasonable with them but apparently, owning up to when you're at fault is not as common a trait as it once was. I realize that we busniess people can become jaded by illegitimate customer complaints to the point where we treat the legitimate ones like they're illegitimate. Perhaps that's what happened here. The owner seems more interested in winning what she perceives to be arguments than actually addressing legitimate customer complaints. To me, that's a deal-breaker and totally disrupts a business's credibility. That's enough for me to take my business elsewhere going forward. To be fair, the owner did offer me a $15 in-store credit for my trouble, which is not nothing, but I think paying for at least the return shipping would have been the more honorable thing to do (standard protocol for pre-paid packages or not). At least then I could repair the item and send it back to the client myself on my own nickel. I'm sure you could probably get good business here four out of five times, but if you're the one case that they make a mistake on, I would not trust them to make it right and take responsibility for it. So, in that sense, it's a gamble. Patronize at your own risk. read more

i had them pick up, pack and build a crate for several items i needed shipped internationally. the owner, kim, sent me a quote for $4800 out the door for 3 day air freight, the crate and the packing to which i agreed to. throughout the next several weeks she tried to hike the price to $5200 claiming "the crate was bigger than we thought". when she finally shipped it she put it on a boat instead of air freight without asking or telling me - i had to figure it out by myself after she sent me an incorrect tracking number. she also tried to withhold the name of the freight forwarder. the crate took 2 months to arrive. i paid her in good faith thinking if i was paying for air freight and she never said anything to suggest otherwise. Kim became combative when i confronted her about the bait and switch, refused to answer why she had done this, and told me "this conversation is over". i requested to see the breakdown of my quote and after more arguing she sent it - $1000 for a (max $600) plywood crate? $1000 for bubble wrapping? maybe i'm in the wrong line of work here if i can open a shipping company and charge prices like that! i reported her to ct consumer protection and BBB and her defense was to claim i was an "international scammer trying to scam [her]", took an "attack is the best defense" approach and continued refusing to address the bait and switch issues, offering me $100 to go away. after a lot more back and forth she sent the attached email to BBB, i'll let you decide if this is someone you want to be dealing with or not. she may write a rebuttal here raving about how i am a "scammer" and a "liar" and how i "wasted her time" and whatever other deflections - customer service is clearly not her forte. We purchased a dual manual combo organ (125 lbs with everything) from a fellow in CT and he used these people to ship. Sadly it arrived broken BECAUSE the *BOX* was actually SHORTER than the Organ!! Well the phenolic knobs that hold the legs were bulging the ends a bit. It was close. But the point is, a professional packer does NOT try to ship a 125lb Organ without 5 or 6" at least of GOOD UNBREAKABLE padding on the ends. They had a layer of bubble wrap. I kid you not. Kim there *claims* that someone opened the box....and removed the padding. Gee Kim the only problem with that *theory* is that the photos show that the box wasn't long enough to *hold* any padding. We told the truth to UPS and they denied the claim. Now what do we do? Kim has no concern that we get paid. She was only concerned to keep beating the drum claiming that she never does anything wrong. Avoid at all costs. I see they claim to be 'authorized ups outlet'. Not sure what that means. We bought INSURANCE. WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON HERE?? We did nothing wrong. We told the truth about HER crummy packing job and now we're out the 100 and whatever dollars repair plus all my time documenting it..I'm putting a video on sounddoctorin youtube channel showing what went on even.
