Every single staff member we encountered was delightful and helpful to meet all our needs. Our room faced the Bay side with a wonderful view. The beds were comfortable, large king size room, free working wifi, and a nice pool. The location, which is not on the main strip, allows you to easily walk to town with several restaurants and shops nearby. I liked the fact that it was tucked away a bit, making it very peaceful and quiet. The hotel offers scooters for rent, which we did one day. The also were able to recommend a private boat operator, which turned out to be the highlight of our vacation. We ended up booking the private boat two times during our trip. The complimentary breakfast was exceptional. The variety of food was more than my eyes or stomach could take! They had everything from made to order omelettes and pancake, selection of fresh fruits to a variety of traditional Filipino dishes.

We did the discovery dive and had a blast. All the dive masters were so friendly and informative. Our dive instructor, Kuya Randy is an expert and prepped us so well before we did our first dive. We felt super safe during the training and had fun on the 2 dives they took us. I would highly recommend this scuba dive shop. We will definitely come back!

It is very rare to find a hotel that is all around perfect when it comes to service, food and amenities. This hotel practically has it all. The experience from start to finish was simply flawless! For starters, the hotel was in constant communication with us from booking to departure and they also helped with coordinating travel. Their complementary breakfasts are amazing and the menu rotates daily. They have the best breakfast spreads I've experienced. Happy Hour is offered from 5-7pm on their 4th floor rooftop deck providing killer sunset views which by the way has not one, but two jet tub pools if you prefer to watch the sunset in water versus on the patio chairs. The rooms are clean, modern and the grounds are beautiful. They have on-site security guards which made me feel safe during our stay. They really put a lot of thought in the details of running a hotel chain. Staff was friendly, positive and professional making every moment of our trip memorable. If you find yourself visiting Coron, the Funny Lion is the best hotel for the best value.

They also provide a turn down service with small desserts such as cookies, mousse. Another surprise was that each room came with flip flops to keep and a native bag. All you can eat breakfast is included along with afternoon snacks. Breakfast will consist of different items each day like bacon, longanisa, sardines, chicken, cereal, tablea (chocolate drink), French Press Coffee (local beans), garlic fried rice, bagoong fried rice, egg fried rice, made to order omelet station, banana muffins, kutsinta, puto, bibingka, espasol, local fruits, waffles, pan de sal, sliced bread, fresh squeezed juice (calamansi). Then it seems they gave a way one of our premium room so the a dingle bed room but fixed it with a mattress laying on the floor. Next, when we booked we requested the children's room to be next to parents room. Again the placed the children rooms 5 rooms away. Front desk agents had ZERO answers zero answers for the problem! Basically didn't try to fix anything! Got a manager on the phone because there was no manager there . Manager promised to fix the problem the very next day. After that phone call ended spoke with the front desk agent again, and they said they were surprised at the manager, guaranteed the problem to be fixed because there was no room for us to move to the very next day ! So I guess the managers a bullshitter! I would give this hotel a -10 stars but at this website it's not allowed, so all I can give it is a one star! It took 15 minutes from the airport to the port and 40 minutes by boat from port to the resort. Service from the airport driver, boat greeter/guide, reception, housekeeping and restaurant staff at Sinag restaurant gave very attentive, friendly and speedy service. We had dinner at Sinag. They served a complimentary basket of two flavors of pan de Sal (plain and malunggay). Oh my goodness! We could have had 20 of these. They were soft, freshly baked and fluffy. Then, we ordered kare-kare, Bacolod sinugba grilled pork belly, ube coconut shake, turon and ube ice cream. Their food presentation is so lovely and authentic. The kare-kare was probably the best we've had. Several plates of veges and peanuts were brought in with a clay pot and mixed with oxtail and sauce tableside. I thought the little rice pots were charming. Reminded me of the larger versions we had during my childhood. The sinugba was good. The ube coconut drink was delicious and the desserts were phenomenal. Now, as to our room, it was a garden view on the 2nd floor and the concrete steps were very steep. There were probably 40 steps in all. We were panting by the time we got to our room.

Complimentary treats are delicious as well. We had a dinner scheduled at 5:30pm for a party of 12. Upon arrival, the table setting was different than advertised photos but still was gorgeous and on the actual beach which was what we wanted. We received menus to the grill even though we were told we were able to pick from a menu which had a more Western fusion theme. This was unexpected as well, but we put in drink orders and food orders. Unfortunately there were many bugs flying around us, significantly more than usual. An hour later we had no drinks or food, it was getting dark, and so we decided to get up and ask to all move to the actual restaurant part to make it easier for them. We finally received our drinks which now had melted ice and our coconuts were lukewarm. Then the salads came (included in the meal), it was an embarrassment of a salad. Something even worse than what you would see in a school cafeteria, incredibly overcooked chicken and a measly portion. The soup (also included) followed which tasted like instant soup (think grocery store Benihana's dupe) and had undercooked mushroom chunks. I ordered the ribs which was dry but the flavor was good, especially because I was starving at this point. My friend next to me ordered the salmon which was so overcooked it resembled a brick. It was also interesting to us that now that we had complained and were visibly upset that now the staff decided to be attentive. We received complimentary mango cheesecakes for their bad service. It reminded me of something you'd find at costco and I felt it had little to no mango flavor. Unfortunately this mid tier dessert was the general consensus to be the best part of the meal since everything else was greatly disappointing. Day 2: My friend woke up with heat exhaustion so I called the front desk to get more water, ice and a thin sheet since there's only a thick comforter on the beds. No answer so I went to the front desk and they said housekeeping can bring it to me and I can go to the restaurant. I got water and ice at the restaurant fine and the manager said they could bring housekeeping stuff over to my room. After initially telling housekeeping around 7:20am and a manager at 7:30am. I came back to my room to call housekeeping to followup and they said they'd be there immediately and it seemed front desk and manager did not communicate my needs to them. Housekeeping did not come until 8:15am, about an hour from when I initially asked. Lack of communication and urgency after I told two employees my friend was sick was concerning. Spent some time at the beach and tried some American food and drinks. Those parts were nice. Day 3: Spent some time at the beach and exploring the resort. Wish it was easier to order food/drinks to and from lounging areas or that there were more bars/restaurant options. Cheddar bacon apple sandwich was nice. Drinks were strong, highly recommend only ordering off the menu because venturing from it causes subpar drinks. Also, was surprised to see a "clean" beach towel I received was COVERED in brown and black stains. I also received a "clean" towel from housekeeping smeared in black stains. For dinner, we tried the sinig restaurant and it was delicious. Great service and amazing selection/wide variety. Especially loved their boodle fight and dessert options. Got back to our room to find a stench eminating from the bathroom because the water here is potent. After a while you can tell the water is green so be careful. Day 4: Had to see the doctor and he was very helpful. Spent some more time taking photos and relaxing around the resort. Had dinner again at Sinag which was really lovely. Staff at sinag was very accommodating and helpful. The food was great. Laing and the salted egg bibingka were definitely my favorite Day 5: Checkout was a breeze and there was a slight delay to our boat ride back. Luckily they were able to take us closer to get us on a van ride that was shorter to the airport. Complimentary sweet treats were great as well. Overall, beautiful location. Lots of wildlife in the actual resort; snorkeling, sea turtles, large lizards at breakfast, and fruit bats hanging over the resort. Sinag was delicious and we loved the staff, but the other restaurant seemed subpar with a large party. Unfortunately, urgency and communication between staff seems lacking which caused great discomfort and disappointment within our party. Other customers at the resort were also unfriendly and we felt a hostile energy from them. Hoping they improve in the future.

As…read moreexpected from Filipino hospitality, the staff were incredibly friendly, warm, and accommodating--always ready with a smile and eager to assist. The location is stunning, offering easy access to Coron's natural beauty, and the rooms are comfortable with well-maintained amenities that make for a relaxing stay. However, the food options could use some improvement. While the quality was decent, the limited variety made the menu feel repetitive over a four-night stay. A bit more diversity and creativity in the culinary offerings would enhance the overall guest experience. On a more somber note, I visited Coron a decade ago, and it was disheartening to witness the dramatic change in its once-vibrant coral reefs. The colorful underwater world that once teemed with life is now largely dulled and degraded. While some damage is undoubtedly due to natural factors, the more significant impact has clearly been caused by human activity and overexploitation of this precious ecosystem. If Coron--and Palawan more broadly--is to continue being a destination of ecological wonder, tighter regulations must be enforced. Tourists should be made to sign agreements to observe but not touch, and local authorities need to ramp up protection measures. We are stewards of this natural beauty, and we owe it to future generations to allow our reefs the time and space to heal. I sincerely hope to return in the future and see signs of regeneration and responsible tourism taking root. The Philippines has been gifted with some of the most extraordinary marine biodiversity in the world--it's worth the protection.

Once you see the resort, you'll know what I'm talking about when I say "tropical hideaway". Beautiful scenery of the resort and the waters. When checking in, you're greeted with staff singing a welcome song and a welcome non-alcoholic drink. Our stay was in a duplex beach cabin with adjoining doors. Both rooms were spacious and very clean. Small tub of water sits by the door to wash your feet of sand and debris if you need it. Patios have chairs to lounge and take in the beautiful beach view. Bathrooms have showers and limited amenities. Hairdryer, toothbrushes with toothpaste, soap, shower cap, and shampoo. Rooms have a safe, small basket to carry your belongings to the beach or infinity pool, slippers, robes, complimentary bottles of water (which they replenish every day if you drink them) and coffee maker. Resort has many things on site, including activities such as billiards, karaoke rooms, kayaking, paddleboarding, beach volleyball, swimming in roped off area (very safe). Very small gift shop with decent prices compared to US resorts. Although the place was fully booked, it was never crowded anywhere and almost felt like your family was alone to enjoy the entire place. Customer service was beyond excellent! Everyone there greeted you with smiles and offered help. Our server Jewrel was the best! Lunch and dinners at the only restaurant on site is by purchase but prices were decent and food tasted good! Breakfast is complimentary. Front desk is very helpful too. For a fee, you can book excursions. We chose the all-day island tour. Resort to Coron town is 1 hour. By boat, we went to Twin Lagoon, Kayangan Lake, Barracuda Lake, Siete Picados Marine Park, and Maquinit Hot Springs. Worth every peso! Highly recommended. Comes with a lunch, snorkel gear, towels and tour guide (3 other staff to also help you throughout the entire tour- helpful when I didn't want to swim anymore- they pulled me with a floater). Twin Lagoon- you'll get off boat into the water and swim to the lagoon. Get a kayak if you don't want to (must be booked prior to leaving Corona Town port). Barracuda Lake- some uneasy stairs so be careful (someone fell into the waters next to stairs). Kayangan Lake- so many stairs and steep! Siete Marine Park- coral reef beautiful! Maquinit Hot Springs- perfect ending to a long day of swimming. Quick stop at souvenir shop before heading back to resort. Ask for Darren if possible. He was the best tour guide!! Tips: Bring conditioner, small loofah, and body lotion. Bring water, snacks, sunscreen, mosquito repellent, small soap, toilet paper and water shoes for the excursions. Beware: no clean bathrooms, toilet paper and soap. Hot springs is the only place with decent toilet and toilet paper.

What Sea Cocoon offers is a comfortable, centrally located hotel with friendly staff, helpful recommendations, a great breakfast, and a wonderful view of the bay. Our room was clean, the air conditioning kept the room at a comfortable temperature, the front desk was able to order tricycle rides a bit cheaper than we could find on the street by ourselves, was able to direct us to the locations we wanted to visit, and had several connections within town. Each floor also had a water dispenser so you could fill up your travel bottle with water without having to rely on tap water. Outside of the hotel was a spot with an air compressor so you can remove sand from your shoes and sandals. Each room also has plenty of shelf space and a rack to hang things so you can pull all your clothes and gear out of your luggage and have everything easily accessible. I was in a more upscale hotel in Manila that didn't have all the great organization space Sea Cocoon offered. The facilities did look a little old, but the staff kept them clean. The elevator had a glitch where it didn't stop level at the floor you were exiting, but it was manageable. The sewer system in El Nido does smell, but the sink has a stopper in it; so long as you remember to use the stopper after using the sink, you won't get a smelly bathroom. I would absolutely stay at the Sea Cocoon the next time I visit El Nido.

However this hotel has a no refund policy, so here's a fair warning to any potential future traveller: Cons - There was a moldy smell during our entire stay. The first day we checked in there was a strong vinegar smell but that dissipated in a day, but the moldy smell persisted. That can't possibly be healthy to breathe in. The room is very humid, even more humid than outside. Mind you there hasn't been any rain in the past week so it wasn't humid because of a recent thunderstorm - The AC unit points down directly at the desk and bed and there was no way to change the direction. Hence the cold air was always blasting on my face when I'm sleeping. I wake up 6 times every day because of that - The sheet felt like a solid layer of humidity. I'm not sure if it's the material or how they wash it, but when I have it on me my skin feels very uncomfortable. That also keeps me up at night because the AC is too cold so I need the sheet on but that makes me feel very humid. I couldn't turn off the AC because then the room gets way too hot and humid - The WiFi is very unstable. Front desk said the typhoon from last December affected the whole island so WiFi is unstable on the entire island, but the WiFi is actually very fast and reliable in the hotel I just checked into - Not so much of a con, but they charge extra for beach towel rentals and there's no drinking water refill except for the first day you check in. I've stayed at many beach/island hotels and all of them had free beach towel rental and free water refill We originally booked 5 nights on Agoda but decided to extend 2 nights prior to check in. They suggested we pay in cash for a discount. We ended up staying only 3 nights because I have been inhaling moldy air and not been able to sleep properly for 3 days straight. I've brought up my concerns with front desk and they told me they have a no refund policy. I've had many bookings in 3 star hotels on tropical islands, so I'm well aware of the limitations of those hotels. However, Sea Cocoon is the only one that I felt like I had to leave because it was affecting my health.
