She wants a CURLER SET so it stays in longer, better than a CURLING IRON. They said YES. Made the appointment. Dropped my aunt off, 30 mins later she was more than ready to leave. Her Hair was as straight as could be. The stylist had BIG CURLING ROLLERS that could not possibly work & she blow dried the hair BEFORE attempting to roll on the Curlers ??? Clearly the stylist had no idea what she was doing. The hair was not very short but not hanging on her shoulders length. I could not believe what I saw. So terribly disappointing. The shampoo job was another issue. My aunt told the girl there was a fair amount of hair spray in the hair, she used next to no shampoo and barely massaged what there was in , like she was afraid to touch her head. My aunt has been getting her hair done every week since I was a child and I am a young 70. I do not understand how they can get this SO TERRIBLY WRONG , If they do not know how to do a process do not lie that you do ! Well on to the next salon hunt !

Because of my fragrance and dye allergies, I feel more comfortable going to a place that uses paraben free products. I used to highlight my hair all the time before I started to become allergic to fragrances then was afraid to do highlights until going to this hair salon. I noticed that when Dee was highlighting and toning down my hair, there wasn't that tingling and itchy sensation on my scalp that I used to feel which means my body likes it and there is no harsh chemicals... Also, no ammonia smell! I highly recommend this place and Dee ALWAYS does a GREAT job cutting my hair. This was the first time she highlighted my hair and the color is perfect!

Lisa took that formula and changed it slightly. I was happy with the results. I leave for the season back to Boston next week and called the salon to ask for the updated formula to take back with me. It took 4 phone calls over two weeks to get Lisa on the phone. She refused to pass the new formula along saying it was "unprofessional" to do so. She was very unpleasant, insulted that I even made the request. Every stylist that I ever had was happy to share her formula. She would have kept me as a client as I was happy with her services had she just shared her formula. Bad attitude, bad for business.

I had also done a couple root touch ups at home with clairol. I am not from the area and I don't have a regular stylist here. She is highly educated and experienced and walked me through the processes my hair needed to get good color. She was thorough and gave me a time and cost quote as well. Super professional! Two weeks later I went back, and spent 5 hours there for corrective color. I think the results speak for themselves! I couldn't be happier, she is worth every penny. Highly recommend.

I went in asking for a specific balayage in cool tones for my brown hair and walked out with.. red hair and possibly some highlights (after paying $200 too!) The colorist, Jordana, made excuses of course but wow, terrible job. I like to think that I am low maintenance and rarely leave reviews but this is a terrible place. Expensive and terrible. Do not spend any time or money here. UPDATE: Owner called and refused to refund for services. She made excuses for the colorist and claimed I was told what to expect. I was not told I would walk out without a balayage and with red hair. I truly believe that if another method (foils, etc.) was the way to obtain my desired look, I should have been informed as I am not the hair expert. Very disappointing. SECOND UPDATE: Owner keeps updating his comments to my review and is now lying about what the stylist allegedly said. DO NOT VISIT AVANT GARDE. The photo of the end result that I posted says it all. No salon would take your money for an"balayage" and leave your hair like this. I was NEVER told I would have "red undertones" and when I was offered a glaze, I was not told I would have red hair unless I got a glaze. In fact, Jordan's stated that the toner should do the job and I could always come back a few weeks later for a glaze. INCREDIBLE!
