Ask the Community - Two Bones BBQ

I'm a BBQ snob, and I don't want to be a d**k if I go and order. The website says its "whole" and "prime" brisket. Is this still current? 2nd question: when you order, do you get the choice between point and flat, (also stated moist vs lean)? thx

Hello Rick, Thank you for your interest! We smoke USDA Prime Brisket (Whole/trimmed). Sliced per order. Hope you can come visit us sometime.

Hong BBQ and Hot Pot

There are a few Korean BBQ/hot pot places in town now, which is super fun and a great dinner option…read morefor a group or a fun date. The space is large and decorated nicely compared to the other spots I've been. Our group of four had a bit of a wait (10 minutes) when we arrived around 6:30 on a weekday. They seemed a little understaffed and were only utilizing a small part of the whole restaurant for seating. Our friends are regulars so they guided us on ordering and mixing up our sauces, which was really helpful. Our server was super kind and went through the menu options with us. It's all you can eat and they'll just keep bringing out more items throughout your time. Our server was really good about checking in with us. For hot pot you choose your own broth flavor for your personal hot pot - I went with the Szechuan which was spicy and numbing. I really liked it! Nate got the mushroom, which he said was just okay. I'd recommend starting with a bunch of items all at once. The meats are very thin cuts and cook quickly in the broth. We also got an assortment of veggies, dumplings, and my favorite, the udon noodles. The menu gives cooking times for each item which is helpful. Your price includes all you can eat hot pot or Korean BBQ - you can do both for an extra $6 or so. I honestly think I prefer hot pot to Korean BBQ, it's a little easier and more forgiving of a cooking method. I thought the options were nicely varied, and you get access to the sides/dessert buffet, with salads, kimchi, chicken feet, fries, egg rolls, etc. and the sauce bar that has tons of options! They also have a full bar and serve sake, soju, boba, etc. I really loved this spot and thought the service was by far the best of the hot pot places I've visited in the area.

Pros: gorgeous restaurant, good meats, good sauces, no time-limit, and FINALLY -if one person at…read morethe table gets hot pot, not everyone has to get it! Only the person that wants it will be billed for it. Cons: hot pot is pricey, but prices are the same as other restaurants. Not as big of a selection of appetizers/hot food bar compared to other restaurants. If I did Hot Pot, I would likely choose this place. It's gorgeously decorated, our waitress, Anisia, was so lovely, attentive, and helpful -and the food was delish. It's different from other restaurants in that it didn't have a 2-hour time limit and if my husband wanted hot pot, I didn't have to pay for it as well. The only downside is there wasn't as big of a selection on the cold/hot bar. But everything else was great and it is my new preferred location!

Butcher's Union - 14 Oz Ribeye from Double R Ranch. And dressed it with fried potatoes, black garlic butter, red wine reduction, red onion, chives.

Now that they take reservations online and not just in person, it's so much easier to get a seat! Every time family or friends visit in town this is our first stop. The decor and ambiance is top tier and I wish there were more like it in GR! I highly recommend for a date night or nicer dinner out since it is a nicer place and the prices reflect that somewhat. My favorites are the whipped feta, wagyu sirloin, and the Daisy Du cocktail. For dessert, the bourbon apple crisp and chocolate mouse cake are incredible. But you truly can't go wrong with anything on the menu!

I felt like had to try THE burger (BU butcher's beef blend, cheddar, caramelized onions, spicy pickles, creamy aioli, griddled brioche). This ate like a fancy Big Mac - and I mean that in the most complimentary way. So tasty! I, of course, had to add the hand cut fries. These were done VERY well. Also, they had a very SOLID spicy bloody mary. So why only 4 stars then? Welp, best burger in the state still goes to Ricewood (Friday & Saturday only!) - that smoked brisket burger is dang good. I'd come back to BU to try other items and enjoy their patio. Reservations can be made on OpenTable.
